I’ve been a carpenter for over 40yrs as I watched you try to explain the stringers layout I noticed you forgot about the thickness of the top tread . I tried to yell at my screen but I guess you didn’t hear me ha ha . But you reacted like a pro….when you make a mistake fix it. I guarantee you won’t make that same mistake again ever. Good work!!!!
Cheers to you guys for grinding out the stairs and fixing them after you noticed the top tread being too shallow! AND your wife being there helping! That's a lot of work.
Fantastic work on that home rehab! I can't even imagine the amount of work that you are putting into making all of that happen. Looking forward to seeing the end results! 👍👍🔨🔨
Fantastic video. I'd loved seeing all the construction changes. The moving of the staircase was excellent. You have very good skills. I wish my basement was taller. I had to subscribe to your channel so I can see future changes. Loved everything!!!
So very informative and easy to understand; did you know you were going to have to do all this when you bought the place? Is there an exterior door on that level? Yikes, so so much work for you guys. Job well done with more to come.
Thank you! We had an idea and as we have progressed we just decided to do a little more each step up the way so it really has compounded. 😬 Thanks again
Stair stringers are so easy to screw up. Lots of details to keep track of. Especially the first time you do it. In other news, around 22:10 when you take down the last piece of framing on the interior wall it looks like the ceiling settled ever so slightly.
When the video started I wondered how come the ceiling was so low…nice job. I ave a theory if you make the kids room smaller the will want to come more…
I just found your channel this morning; building the new fence around your chicken run. Then I saw lifting a house. Wow! Now I'm catching up and following the cabin remodel! Impressive!! Can't wait to see the finished product. Btw, how do you like using Ryobi 's new framing nailer? I need one.....
It’s called sistering not a trimmer! Trimmers are in a rough opening to a door ! This is an absolutely frightening video! Someone will buy that house down the road and hv no idea this was not done by a licensed contractor! You are messing with structural items and hv no experience! Would you diagnose yourself medically no! Permits? Inspections ? I am a finish contractor and never buy a home if the home owner did the work ! Nightmare after nightmare !
Sistering meaning refers to the process of reinforcing or adding extra material to strengthen a damaged material, typically floor joists. A trimmer joist is a beam in a floor or roof structure attached to truncated joists in order to leave an opening for a staircase. What makes you think I have no experience? And yes this project is permitted and will be inspected. Did you see the part where we lifted the whole house! I bet that really blew your mind 😂
@@rogueengineer so your a GC and build homes ? I apologize not an engineer ? Listen you can give me the specific I call it sistering because all the rough outs of the doors receive trimmers ! Ask any experienced carpenter what it’s called I don’t care what your dictionary explanation is ! Thru out the video you state “ this thing or that thing “. Or “ whatever” ! I am really glad you hv a great degree ! That does not make you a GC ! And for a guy like me who has fixed and looked at plus purchased many homes these are the ones I avoid ! And by the way it’s not that difficult to lift a home ! However; to me if I learned the home was lifted I pass! Anyway good luck you obviously know what you are doing !
The large window with lake view is pointless. You put up the walls of the linen closet block it from all sorts of views. Sure, it will allow some natural light at the top of the stairs, but who cares if you cannot sit and enjoy the view from the window. SMH.
It's a hallway and staircase. Not really somewhere you would sit to enjoy the view but definitely need some natural light and why not make it a view of the lake from the top of the stairs. plus the position of the window is offset so that you aren't looking right at the neighbors house. It will make more sense when you see it done.

😂😂😂 thank you and so true! Like forgetting to put the plug in the boat. Only happens one time 😂
Absolutely stunning transformation! The way you've reimagined the layout of this house is nothing short of brilliant.
Thank you so much!
Can’t wait to see the large window with lake view! So excited for you guys! God bless.
Us too! Thank you!
Never mind that you moved the stairs, you also LIFTED YOUR ENTIRE HOUSE UP!! HOLY COW!
Cheers to you guys for grinding out the stairs and fixing them after you noticed the top tread being too shallow! AND your wife being there helping! That's a lot of work.
Yes! Thank you!
Ok. I’m fully engrossed in this project and am all caught up. Happy remodeling!
👍👍👍

👌Good work 👌 and big thanks for sharing the stair building process 👍
Thank you and my pleasure

Thank you very much!
Clamps are your friend , might save a few trips up and down. your doing great!
Thank you!
I was not expecting the entire house to be lifted. Crazy! Adding 2' of height to the basement was super necessary.
Great job 😊
Thanks! 😊
Great work!!! Thank you for the video
Thank you!

“We had a few other things to do…” proceeds to jack up the entire house
😂
SOOO much work, but it looks like it will be totally worth it in the end (if you ever finish). 😁 - Chris
No doubt, hopefully that day will come soon.
Looks great. Only criticism is, it's height, not "hidth" 😊
I don't know why this bugged me as much as it did.
Good work bro
Thanks man

Haha yea it was only about 6'8" to start! Thank you!
This man is so handsome, He is a dream.
Oh, and by the way, we had to lift the entire house 2 feet...

Honest question: Is this more or less work than just building a new house?
Probably a little less but not far off. And definitely more of a headache. 😫
The expense to do something like this is worth it?!
You kind of casually breeze past the part where you LIFT UP THE ENTIRE FUCKING HOUSE
😂😂😂 full details on that here:
