    The issue I always have is:
    The green dot videos are things that I love to do.
    The other color dots that come along are things that I don't really want to do.
    I can sometimes identify a different color dot, as in, something that would get more views, but it just isn't something I care much about.
    I guess the difference is:
    investing into a passion and communicating it through a youtube video, versus investing into being a youtuber.
    Something like that.

      @L3roy ปีที่แล้ว +19

      This is such a great point. I think bottom line is the purpose of it all? Are you making videos for you, or your audience. I’m not saying your green dot videos won’t eventually work, I think it just takes way way way longer for it all to flesh out. The algorithm works best if it has large numbers to work with. Maybe your green dot videos are actually epic, but it’s gonna take years for the audience to find them. I’m just starting out so I’m not an authority on the subject… so Either way, good luck to ya!

      I totally agree with u tbh but my philosophy is that i want to make content that I love so that the ppl that do like my content, love the same things that i do so ill create a great community that i would love.

      There's some niches that really will never get traction. that's what this dude is wrong about. Some niches just never get traction, and TH-cam isn't about YOU. It's about the watchers and what entertains them. You have to find a common ground in what you like and what they likd

    • @thenachothief
      @thenachothief ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What I would do (if you haven't already) is try to find what makes those videos turn into different colored dots, and try to implement them (if possible) into what you love doing most. I'm not entirely sure if this is possible under your circumstances but I hope this at least helps

But I kept pushing and telling myself not to give up, and I guess I'm getting better. This is the best explanation of growing a channel that I've ever seen after watching lots of how-to videos for almost a year. In my case it has to be a balance between addressing topics people want to hear about and important things that need to be said and communicated. We'll see where it goes and I'll work to identify those blue-dot and other-dot videos while staying true to my green-dot vision. God bless, and thanks a lot!

    • @grim6392
      @grim6392 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How about musicians??

    • @TheThinkersBible
      @TheThinkersBible ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@grim6392 I'd recommend focusing on search at first. Starting with specific techniques you're good at that you can teach others to do. One technique per short video. Then perform that technique in a context of a popular song that you can play well.
      Research what songs and techniques people are search for, and incorporate a popular song and technique. Especially if you can find both a song and technique that aren't covered by a lot of much larger channels.
      Check out Rob Brown's channel. He's a drummer but he's great at teaching one technique per video.

    • @TheThinkersBible
      @TheThinkersBible ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@grim6392 also -- I'd recommend doing a lot of research on how to get GREAT-sounding recordings for your instrument within your budget. AND some research on how to mix sound on video so your voice and instrument balance. Sound quality will make you or break you. For musicians it's doubly true.

    • @grim6392
      @grim6392 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheThinkersBible I'm a producer so I can kind of do the technical stuff Abt music. My problem is getting people to listen to what I release.

    • @TheThinkersBible
      @TheThinkersBible ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@grim6392 ah ok. Then I'd recommend starting with searchable topics -- techniques people really want to learn about. Do a short lesson, then demo the technique in a production that you want people to listen to. That way you can move into pure music over time if enough people like your teaching and vibe with your music. If you're not already famous then you have to give people a reason to listen to your music. And if you're teaching them something they value in production or in performance on an instrument, that's a good segue into the listening area.
      Also I'd do trend-surfing like Grow Your Gaming Channel is recommending. Do what you need to do, then move into what you want to do.
      That's essentially how I started my channel. My first video was a video on the origins or Easter. Because a lot of people, especially Christians, are interested in that topic. I released it 3 months after Easter(!) but it still got views and is at 200+ views now.

  • @ErmEpic
    @ErmEpic 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

    I’m in a peculiar situation. So I had an old channel which I made in 2022. At that time I made these “green dot videos”. Then I made a discovery with a series that was getting me 40-60 views. Those were my blue dot videos. Finally I started making edits, which were my red dot videos getting 500-2000 views. But my channel got deleted at 217 subs. And now my edits, which are better than ever, are my green dot videos.

    One thing I'm finding is you have to like editing. If you don't like to edit... things become a LOT harder. You really have to focus on dots which do not require a lot of editing. Limiting. Not impossible. But... maybe improbable at that point. Also I've read if you don't like editing try livestreaming instead.

    This, my friend, has been the most amazing video on this topic that I have watched. I have trying to get more views and subscribers and grow my TH-cam channel, so I have started prowling TH-cam for ideas and knowledge. I am enjoying the learning part, as this is something that I enjoy doing. Plus, I just love learning new things! I am glad you have experienced success and are willing to make videos to help others. This is exactly what I am trying to do with my channel. Thanks for your video!

    Very interesting…I started with random gameplay, to shorts, back to gameplay, then randomly did some unboxing which went really good for my small channel. Trying to stay in that realm of reviewing and small tutorials…not sure how to elevate but my gaming channel is doing better than I thought even though almost at 200 subs, it’s a journey and i like the potential

    Something else to add: People are seeing your dots this entire time and you are growing exposure everyday. While it does happen, it is hard for a purple dot to reach millions immediately without a good channel base.

    This absolutely makes sense. But my only problem is that the videos I don’t really have fun making blow up. And I really want to go back and make a another video like the last one. All of my videos I have creating, however, as well as spending much more time on them, almost always flop. Getting 10-12 views. If anybody knows how to help me, I would greatly appreciate it if you gave me advice. And if I have to, I will start making the videos I don’t enjoy as much, if that is what people want.
