After that last dataslate, Daemons are looking the best they've looked all of 10th edition & Khorne is no exception to that! I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts on them though or if there's anything you disagree with or think I missed. Hope you guys enjoy the video!! PS: Let me know which Chaos God you guys would like to see covered next ;)
I am just getting into warhammer and recently just played my first game. I am really into it and looking to expand my army. I bought the daemons combat patrol and was stuck between buying be’lakor and a skull cannon or Skarbrand and a rendmaster. Your video helped tremendously thank you so much 😁 I will be going with Skarbrand
I think that's the right call, Belakor will be a great pickup if/when you're ready to expand into some of the other Gods (tho he's still fine even mono Khorne!), but yeah Skar + Rendmaster will super boost your entire army so I think that's the best route. Soul Grinders would be a good pickup too, eventually :P Either way, thank you for the comment & I'm glad you found this helpful!!
Yeah I've had some really good success with Khorne too, very happy with how the FAQ worked out for us. Great work as always FA! I'd love to see your thoughts on Nurgle next 😘
Thank you Flatlander! You're one of the OG's lol, we'll see who I do next it's currently up in there. I'm a Nurgle fanboy so I miiiight save them for last :P
Aw shucks, thank you Wodam!! I will most definitely get to Tzeentch, they've become one of my favorite god's lately (I used to not care for them *as* much but they've really grown on me). Right now it's about 50/50 if I do them or Slaanesh next but we shall see. Either way, tyvm for the kind words
Indeed Khorne is the best!!! Plan to get myself a combat patrol later this week and beginning on my way to build out some daemons for the local crusade campaign we have had going! Thanks for the video!
I been world eater player since 8th edition still kinda noob at the game but I been slowly getting into khorne daemons too I actually ran into your videos yesterday when I got myself a Skullcannon and wanting to see what's good in just chaos daemons. Your videos been a life saver for me I wish this video was out yesterday though since I didn't know rendmaster was sooo good. oh well I'll just buy another kit for them and build it cause holy crap they are good!! I really appreciate your video format makes it easy to understand. 🐈⬛😻
Thank you Midnight! Newer Daemon players are one of my main targets so that's fantastic to hear you were able to stumble across this one! For your skull cannon, if you used super glue (& NOT plastic glue) you can toss it in the freezer for like an hour & it should come apart easy 😜 Also! The Rendmaster model that sits on top makes a perfect Bloodmaster kitbash (just his head), it's how I did it with my army. Either way even if you can't/don't convert him you're still spoiled for options
@@fatarchon thank you so much and unfortunately I used the plastic glue >_< but I'll definitely keep the Bloodmaster kitbash in mind I do love kitbashing a lot so yea thank you again for your advice!! ^-^/
Oh man, I wanted to go to that sooo bad but sadly I'm broke. Either way best of luck!! I have a few friends reffing there so I'm sure I'll hear a lot about it :)
Thank you very much! I've learned a boatload since starting this channel so it's great to hear it's all coming together. Appreciate your comment & glad you enjoyed it!!
That's a great use for him so good point. There's some (really good) tournament players out there that swear by them too so for sure you can make a strong list with him, he just doesn't fit my style all that well. Then again at only 95pt it almost doesn't matter hah
Yeah I'm not sure you could get much further from Tau than with Khorne hah. They're a great army to learn / play, they can be as straightforward or as devious as you want 😜
@@fatarchon oh yeah I've been looking at those 5 inch charges on the bloodletters and using my Bloodthirsters as portals for them basically. Khorne wins either way, he gets his blood regardless.
Back in Leviathan I was running a mono-Khorne (+ belakor) list with triple rendmaster. Damage 5 Bloodletters was never necessary, but it allowed me to deep strike in multiple locations and chunk down anything I wanted. My personal recommendation for mono-khorne is to actually run 2, as it lets you either stack to damage 4, or let you drill down 2 targets at once. If you're running a GUO and other-god units, 1 might still be the best play. Either way, running 3 made for an incredibly fun game!
Oh man I STILL need to try bringing x3 just for the fun of it 😜 Otherwise I completely agree with you, 1-2 is probably the best route to go. Very curious what will happen to them come the Codex though; I don't think they're OP in the least but it *looks* like such a powerful buff (... Which it is lol) that I could see people wanting to knee jerk replace it
I'm just starting Chaos Space Marines (Night Lords) and have a Khorne daemon combat patrol from when I first started. I was just wondering if any Khorne daemons could be worth allying into a CSM list? I only have 1 bloodmaster, 20 bloodletters, 10 flesh hounds and 3 bloodcrushers at the moment of course
Yes very much! I wouldn't say they're optimal or anything but they can give you a big melee punch & you can still Deepstrike all of them if you wanted. Like I say in the vid I think BLs on their own kinda suck so I'd probably attach a Bloodmaster personally. That would eat up an allie slot sadly (I think..) so to bring more you'd have to bring another squad.. So actually you COULD skip it if you wanted but they'd lose a lot of their punch Then again if you play with friends just ask if it's cool if you bring an extra unit of Khorne. 90% of folks shouldn't care! Beyond that, while Flesh Hounds are amazing obviously Bloodcrushers are way more FUN so I'd prolly lean towards them 😜
@fatarchon I only play with friends so that's probably the way to go! Not sure what I'll bring, but it's probably worth experimenting with! Might consider getting a bloodthirster down the line, but hopefully they'd be alright with me skipping the battleline tax and just taking what I'd like 😅 Thanks for the help!
I would have never understood how awesome Khorne daemons are without your videos. I think they are kinda insane compared to other armies. Not O.P. But crazy fun.
Thank you Kakashi! 'Spreading the word' on Daemons is big to me, so it means a lot to hear you say that 😜 & yes, Khorne (+ Daemons in general) are one of the premiere melee armies & like you say they aren't OP in the least yet are incredibly FUN / unique to play
Lookin' forward to the inevitable Slaanesh video. ...and hoping slaanesh gets a Combat Patrol with the codex release. Even though we both know it's going to Nurgle.
You know, GW doesn't seem *as* Nurgle obsessed as they used to be so.. Who knows! I'm a huge Nurgle fan boy but throughout all of 8th & 9th even I was getting kinda tired of it haha
Good point, I suppose they got a lot of love earlier though Death Guard. But Pink/Blue Horrors makes a Tzeench ComPat logistically funky, and GW are too cowardly to put Slaaneshi stuff on center stage for their product. I really fucking hope the new Daemons ComPat is just the old one but with 150 less points worth of units. But as I type this out my gut is telling me that's what its gonna be. Actually you know what? Calling it now. It's gonna be the old ComPat but with one less squad of bloodletters, a different HQ, and no bloodcrushers. Save the screenshot lmao.
Lmao, I shouldn't gloat but the moment Combat Patrol became a thing I *knew* GW was going to start screwing every army over so I ended up buying x3 of every Start Collecting for every Chaos God (& CSM!). There will NEVER be as good of deal as those again :( The Tzeentch one might've been their best kit ever.. Flamers, Screamers, Pinks, Exalted Flamer & Fateskimmer - which I magnetized ofc lol. Basically their entire army all in a $75 box.. Jfc times have changed. For their CP, tbh, I'm not surprised if they'll change it at all this edition. Prolly do some limited release kits that sell out the same day but that's all. But hey maybe they'll surprise us ;P I agree Slaanesh is risqué for them, I'm just happy they're still around. To GW's credit they didn't reel back the s*xuality at all with their last releases tho
Oh jeez. I'm pretty jealous. All I have from back in the day is an old set of the new daemonettes and some super old 10 pack of chaos space marines, the old one where the sprue had one extra helmet/shoulder combo for each chaos god. Been thinking of ways to get a chaos army with maximum savings. But it's a long term projects because they're like my 3rd army and I still only have like 19 jump pack models (counting 4 characters) for my Blood Angels lol.
I think for the thirsters it's Enhancement Thirster>Skarbrand>non-enhancement thirster. It's understandable to cut out the thirster if you were wanting to run winged prince with enhancement, but the 9 attack bloodthirster is just cracked. The sweep profile getting an extra ap over skarbrand is also a big deal. His buff is also more applicable. Skarbrand's benefit doesn't apply to all the Extra Attacks, so he doesn't help out the rendmaster or bloodcrushers as much as the bloodthirster does. Skarbrand's mobility being less is a huge detriment, as is his second ability being so much less reliable than the thirsters for followup punches. Not to mention the fact that Skar gives up 6 points on Bring it Down compared to the Thirster's 4.
Those are all fair points! Tbh I think it just comes down to preference when it comes to BT vs Skarbrand, they're both super close. Obv I rate the +1A a slight bit higher but really I run both of them these days hah
I feel letters are underrated because they can go through walls. With 10 giant walls on WTC, opponents LOVE to hide actual units behind them while putting trash the the left or right of them to prevent Mounted/Monster units charging them. Letters just go through and kill them though. The "the unit has dev wounds now" Skullmaster buff isn't good at all. Letters don't have a giant number of attacks or full wound re-rolls that will transform it into Dev Wounds. So you're for the character you gain like 2-3 dev wounds, at least 1-2 of which the opponent would fail the 4++ (if he even has one) anyway. So the buff is almost meaningless. Rendmaster does hit hard because almost every relevant target is Character(aka has an attached leader) or Monster
The Dev Wounds *can* come in clutch but I mostly agree in the sense that Bloodmaster is usually my first pick for a BL bomb / to really eek out the DWs you need both Skarbrand + Rendmaster nearby so it's a lot of effort. I do think most people underrate them too. Great point on the walls, a lot of folks don't realize how much that hampers most Daemons lists when they go so big on monsters & mounted. But yeah I love my Bloodletters too, they're one of the main reasons I quit bringing Belakor so often (god knows how many times the damage for cheaper, tho they're both valid ofc!)
Skull Cannon battleshock is key, but not as you said. Use it in combination with the Shadow of Chaos, and get some mortals. Include 2 cannons in every list, and enjoy.
Great suggestion! There's a good # of players (some of the top players at that!) who swear by Skull Cannons so maybe I need to give them another look sometime. Appreciate you sharing your own thoughts
I'd definitely rank them higher, even if you never shoot the gun. Nearly as tanky as Horticulus, with better movement, better OC, under 100 points, doesn't give up anything on assassinate
Winged Khorne Daemon Prince supported by a Rendmaster is insane. 6 strike attacks at strength 11, AP -3, and Damage 4 is amazing. On top of that, you get either sustained hits, lethal hits or free precision. He is very survivable too with a 2+/4++. I like to run two alongside 2 Rendmasters, a Bloodthirster and Skarbrand. The Princes and one rendmaster (or both if really needed) go one way, Skarbrand and Bloodthirster go the other. Most people over commit to Skarbrand and Bloodthirster, so Princes clean house.
@RLNTSS2 you know, that sounds like a legit way to run a DP. That's ones of the fun parts of Khorne w/all the combos you can cook up just with Rendmaster alone 😜
I brought 2 rendmasters but i cheated because i had Belakor and used him like a bodyguard for one of them as they and some units took the obj together while my bloodthirster and some others with my rendmaster deepstriked the guard's mortor emplacements. The resulting sandwhich was delicious
They aren't terrible. The issue I have with them is for 40pt more you can bring a GUO (I know that's not Khorne but still). That said some people have been experimenting with him more & he's most definitely still usable. I prefer the foot ver for the Stealth bubble & the 3++. So yeah, he's fine. Nothing standout but completely valid, imho
You know, I was thinking about the Khorne version last night (just for staying mono / using him offensively). He's not that far behind a BT damage wise & even resiliency is way up there considering the cost. I still think Tzeentch is best for the range output but yeah at 180pt they're completely valid! I'm not sure they're auto include levels but pretty much any list can bring some without handicapping themselves
@@fatarchonI’m a Khorne guy all the way and it really chafes me that the Khorne ones gun is so much worse for no points decrease. But at the same time I still really want to run one.
A 2d6 flamer ain't so bad but I do agree it isn't on the same level as pretty much any of the other options. I'd have liked if they made it 1d6 but 2D instead (something like that - heck maybe better melee?). Either way, he's still fine even Khorne marked as that means you can deepstrike him in with a BT or similar with their SoC so it's not hopeless heh
Great video. Am I missing something: my understanding is you can't flip objectives to deny primary with Skull Cannon. If you battleshock with it, its in your turn, so when your opponent comes to score in their command phase, the battleshock will have worn off?
If I said primary then I misspoke hah, really I mean for secondaries - so yes you're spot on! My bad if I said that, one day I'll start using scripts 😜
well I hope they're all wrong, but I've heard some rumors Daemons might get swept into their respective Codices next edition. Personally I don't really buy it, but I don't put anything past GW :P
I was debating on adding one of the daemon princes to my mono Khorne army. I saw your dedicated video for them. Does anyone use the Khorne ones competitively?
Competitively? No unfortunately not really. HOWEVER, just because something isn't meta doesn't mean they aren't usable. That stealth aura is low key stronk & would go a long way with all your 4++'s so don't think you're screwing yourself by bringing one. It's just a GUO in 40pt more so they usually skipped (obv not mono Khorne but still)
Nah we do gain cover saves! It's just in the vast majority of cases our invul is as good or better than our regular cover saves so it *usually* doesn't matter. But nah we can totally still benefit from cover when it comes up!
I see Skarbrand is higher than bloodthirster. They seem very similar - one is slightly tougher and the other is faster and can take enchantment. Why did you rate Skarbrand higher? Just looks so similar to me
They're indeed incredibly similar & for sure there's an argument to be made that they're either equal or could switch spots etc. Part of the issue, for me, is the points drop is so fresh that I'm still mainly experienced with using Skarbrand so maybe the BT's capabilities hasn't fully settled in for me yet 😜 That said, I've ran him a bunch since the dataslate & while he's done AMAZING I still lean towards Skarbrand edging him out ever so slightly. Mainly I really like the set 6D & I think the +1A aura is superior to the +1tH. But yeah BT has done fantastic so for sure just because I put him A+ over S doesn't mean he can't be ran in every list! Obv we all have our own tastes 'n styles too so might be a hint of bias hidden in there lol
Prince is hard to rate because he has an amazing ability (6" Stealth bubble + 3++ OPG if foot ver), but at the same time you could bring a GUO or Rotigus for 40pt more. I think he's fantastic for players who don't have a really large collection but once you start getting all the Greater Daemons he falls behind a bit. Soul Grinder on the other hand is baller imho. 180pt for praaaactically the same output as a GD & not much worse resilience is fantastic. I'd still run him Tzeentch 90% of the time but even Khorne marked he'll make a damn deadly distraction Carnifex, who can actually murder if he gets in close! But yeah, that's my opinion on those guys :)
Heh no promises but I'll consider them! Slaanesh is ran a lot less so I was considering them anyways tbh 😜 I agree Daemonettes are just so-so even at 100pt (tho that 9" move is sneaky good), Fiends... Well we'll have to wait & see mwhaha
@@fatarchon I have 2k CK army and I wanna jump to another thing (soulforge, WE, or mono khrone) actually I was thinking on it, thanks for your content you're the best , if you have a good 2k list of khrone or something that I'll could use with my knights I'll will appreciate boss 👌
@ALoo07 I'm too lazy atm to put together the exact points (mwhaha), but an example mono Khorne list could be along the lines of: Skarbrand Bloodthirster w/enhancement Rendmaster Skulltaker (solo) Bloodmaster Bloodletters Flesh Hounds Flesh Hounds Flesh Hounds Bloodcrushers x6 Bloodcrushers x6 Bloodcrushers x3 Soul Grinder (of Tzeentch.. Or Khorne) Believe that's ~1990pt but obv you can adjust it to your tastes. Dropping the Soul Grinder or the BL bomb might give you enough for Skullmaster'etc But yeah something like that. Basically overwhelming brutality
Is there a value on overwatching with a unit of 12 flesh hounds or does the low attack value and lack of AP just make it a lot of dice for no damage. I never see it discussed as a viable strat with them, but 10d6 overwatch flamers, even weak ones, followed by a free heroic intervention seems good.
Love it. Not so much as Khorne (tho it still works, especially aggressively) but with the Mark of Tzeentch he's one of the more efficient models we have! Also: looks sick af

Good stuff man keep it up! Btw Mask of Slanesh has advanced, fall back and charge.
Good looking out! I had a feeling it was hidden *somewhere* in the Index 😜 Appreciate the comment friend
Hi thank you for your content. You did not speak about the khorne daemon princes. Where would you place them please ?
They aren't terrible. The issue I have with them is for 40pt more you can bring a GUO (I know that's not Khorne but still). That said some people have been experimenting with him more & he's most definitely still usable. I prefer the foot ver for the Stealth bubble & the 3++. So yeah, he's fine. Nothing standout but completely valid, imho
What do you think about the Soul Grinder with the rules/points update? Easier to move around, but not as good at tank shocking.
Haha nah I was just checking if they're better than I thought they were. I'm still gonna try them. Thanks again for the video
archon show is all your daemon models, i really wanna see how you painted rendmaster
Lol I'll see if I can get some pics together. They aren't the best ever but I'm pretty proud of 'em!
I really wish a bunch of these were rolled into Worldeaters as well. Would have been much more interesting for them!
well I hope they're all wrong, but I've heard some rumors Daemons might get swept into their respective Codices next edition.
It's just a GUO in 40pt more so they usually skipped (obv not mono Khorne but still)
On the blood crusher you state in cover you go to a 3+ save but daemons don't gain the benefit of cover right?
Thoughts on Khorne prince with wings and Soulgrinder?
Hey FA, please do Slanesh next. honesty, i dont get why people love feinds and WHY are daemonnates so bad?
Heh no promises but I'll consider them! Slaanesh is ran a lot less so I was considering them anyways tbh 😜 I agree Daemonettes are just so-so even at 100pt (tho that 9" move is sneaky good), Fiends... Well we'll have to wait & see mwhaha
@@fatarchon Aha love it, regardless of which one you do next its gonna slap!
FYI the Slaanesh video is dropping in the next couple hours 😎
Khrone list ❤
Yeah I know :( I meant to toss in a mono god list at the end but tbh I was kinda beat by then lol. I'll try to include some for the rest of the gods!
@ALoo07 I'm too lazy atm to put together the exact points (mwhaha), but an example mono Khorne list could be along the lines of:
Skarbrand
Bloodthirster w/enhancement
Rendmaster
Skulltaker (solo)
Bloodmaster
Bloodletters
Flesh Hounds
Flesh Hounds
Flesh Hounds
Bloodcrushers x6
Bloodcrushers x6
Bloodcrushers x3
Soul Grinder (of Tzeentch.. Or Khorne)
Believe that's ~1990pt but obv you can adjust it to your tastes. Dropping the Soul Grinder or the BL bomb might give you enough for Skullmaster'etc
But yeah something like that. Basically overwhelming brutality
@@fatarchon I'll will try this list, thnx you boss 👌
Is there a value on overwatching with a unit of 12 flesh hounds or does the low attack value and lack of AP just make it a lot of dice for no damage. I never see it discussed as a viable strat with them, but 10d6 overwatch flamers, even weak ones, followed by a free heroic intervention seems good.
So, unfortunately it's only x1 flamer per squad 😭 Still, with a Rendmaster they get brutal good in melee at least!
Soulgrinder?
Love it. Not so much as Khorne (tho it still works, especially aggressively) but with the Mark of Tzeentch he's one of the more efficient models we have!
Also: looks sick af
@@fatarchondo you think they will Legend the soulgrinder in the next codex? or maybe in 11th edition?
