For Lord Solar, in particular, there is a before lore impression and an after lore impression. Seeing Lord Solar for the first time, I would rate a 0/3 for the before lore because he sticks out like a sore thumb from the regiments and a 2/3 after reading what he does. There are some moments in books that show he's not perfect like he fumbles his pistol after a Tyrannid Norn Emissary ambushes his marching line. He does his best to spare no expenses to increase the chance of victory like personally bargaining with knight houses to join this war effort. He made inspirational videos to show to guardsmen to increase morale and sometimes rode his horse to each regiment that was about to fight to personally give a speech/sermon. That, in my opinion, is a pretty cool dude like a guardsman at heart. Also, Ursula Creed looking like a lunch lady is the most apt description I have never heard until today.

@@auspextactics The “but it hits on 2s rerolling” argument is certainly one I heard a lot from people, who were then astounded that the Leman Russ Battle Tank could hit on 3+ rerolling even easier with basically the same gun, while bringing Multi-Meltas and a Lascannon to bear at the same time. The valk has good play since in hover w/ 20in move you can get in you opp face and move block and with a stat line that makes it a mini russ it can be suprisingly difficult to take out and if it does you drop 10 inf. If the opp tries to move block you, simply fly over and take the mid board behind them. Since in hover it loses the aircraft keyword and rules associated with aircraft you can score engage and behind. The problem is the price and keywords, if it got dropped 30 pts or gained the squadron keyword i think it would be a viable choice and make air cav work
I have used it twice to take the centre objective to good outcomes. First with an infantry squad and second time with ogryns. The ogryns then also got into dakka-range with -2 AP so it felt good! And I almost always charge in with the Valk to tie up an enemy big unit and also effectively giving the enemy -1 to hit me since I'm in combat. The Valks shooting is bad enough that having -1 doesn't ruin the day either. Powerplay would be to give it +1 OC from lord Solar and do actions!
@@karlnygren Ive done the exact thing with charging my valks and it almost always catched my opponent off guard. No one expects you to pull a carter from Halo Reach. Since leaders can give orders when they disembark dropping a scion squad using grav chute my be worthwhile since you can use take cover and bring them to a 3+ sv and remain stationary in your move to make use of drill commander
@@navitgator16add in Tank Shock and wow, something is hurting 😁 Using grav chute like that requires putting your scions in harm's way, either for shooting or a charge, so a little to situational for me. For me the reason to do it could be with rapid ingress of the Valk and then drop out closer than 9" from the enemy to grab an objective you couldn't reach and score it in your turn. But still situational. Or to protect the Valk from a charge, but it's usually better to let the scions be not locked in combat.. so, still a hard to use ability.
Personally, I like both versions of the Sentinel equally. The Scout Sentinel has Scout 9" move, move 10" and the special rule that assist your army, but the Armoured one has T8 and 2+ save, and the "Mobile Hunter-Killers" for some cheap and effective deterent units. 130 pts for 2 Lascannons and 2 Hunter-Killer missiles, rerolling wounds, is quite good for anti-tank, especially since it usually requires several Lascannon shots or Hunterkiller missiles in return just to take out a single model(2+ save and cover). And now that they get Lethals against all targets, you can also take 195 pts worth of Armoured Sentinels, give them Plasma Cannons, and just murder any target. Infantry formations gets blasted(on average, you get 12 shots against a 10-14 model formation), while vehicles and monsters take some Hunter-Killers and several Plasma Cannon shots. The Scout version can get the same weapons, but lacks the rerolling wounds against monsters and vehicles, so the efficiency falls off in that regard, and they are taken out a bit faster as well. And when they are finally killed, you just bring them back for 2 CP. I have seen a pair of Armoured Sentinels hold up an entire flank, because the opponent could not kill them quickly in melee. As for other things, I think the best option for the Heavy Weapons Squad now is the Missile Launcher and being a cheap 60 pts distraction. Sit them far back as a screener unit and as an opportunistic shooter. If the opponent targets them with long range fire, they will, at best, remove 60 pts worth of models. If ignored, they can fire 3 Krak or 3 Frag missiles at targets that get within their sights with lethal hits against non-monsters and vehicles. Even the S9 Krak Missiles can take out various transports, support vehicles, small monsters or elites, making the unit enough of a threat that you cant ignore them forever. The Mortar version will do a bit better vs regular infantry(higher strength, option for indirect fire), but much worse against anything else.
@@marcialrodriguez6285 While near a Platoon-type unit(the infantry battleline units), but yes. They wont always do a lot, but for 60 pts, they will often make back their points either through direct damage, or through being a distraction/diverting damage away from more important units.
1/3 on Lore, Cool Model for Creed? C'mon, fellow guardsmen! I honestly thought, holistically, her book was pretty decent. Easy 2/3. Castellan is a 4/5 for Gameplay for the fallback and shoot plus sustained hits. It's a great frontline commander. Regimental Attache are great if you bring artillery and aircraft, as I often do. Plus that Astropath deepstrike denial is GREAT to keep that backline or even... middle of the battlefield clear! Easy 3/5 for me. Ratlings, 2.5 for me. They are great Space Marine killers and mid-table harassing unit. Wyvern, 2/5. It's -1 to ALL HITS on the opponents Infantry unit hit can really diminish their ability to be offensive on key units, especially with Battleline being more prevalent in Pariah Nexus.
@@CadianSergeantSteel In my local meta, other armies are slowly realizing how fragile the lord Solar blob is and often becomes the first target for their 1cp 3 inch deep strike stratagems so having the attaches denial range is strong. Also how many armies have a 1 CP 3 in deep strike now? Besides T’au which for some reason has to pay 2 CP for it.
Agreed on Castellans for sure! 45 points for orders is a good rate also and having the extra firepower on top of the take aim! is just amazing. I think they generally outperform command squads, no joke.

I have been running Shadowsword+Banesword since the start of the edition, i love them. The rest is just Solar Command Squad (with a x10 DKoK) + x5 20 models DKoK, a couple of Scout Sentinels and a DKoK Marshal (or max Marshal but reducing 2 DKoK from 20 to 10). Pretty much variations of this makes me happy.
I love the tech priest, never had to make em repair something but he once beat a squad of daemonettes to a pulp after they had managed to score one wound on a shadowsword
I think I can safely say guard have the most iconic vehicles in almost ALL categories? Basilisk? No contest. Valkyrie? Despite being rubbish, its miles away of next flyer in cool factor. Tank? Perhaps others might be better looking, but its crystal clear Leman Russ IS the 40k main tank. Titanic? Name one more iconic than the BANEBLADE. The only two categories we might not win are transport (chimera vs falcon or rhino), and walker (sentinel vs dreadnought).

Eradicator is a sleeper, running two of them and they are great. Lots of shots with ignores cover and Urban Warfare means I'm not scared of getting tied up. Also great against medium strength units
Cadian Castellan with Drill Commander leading 10 Kasrkin is 5/5 for me... 2 Orders (Kasrkin have one by them selfs) sustained hits and lethal from born soldier on a 5+ when stationary and one attack more with rapid fire weapon do to command killed one sqaut of eightbound last game in one round
HWS with mortars is still brutal against any flavor of elves (speaking as aeldari player myself). Recently played a game and just a single squad destroyed both of my rangers squads in two turns. Yeah, it was a bit of a highroll on my opponents side, but still - 5 0 1 shots can absolutely threaten the many fragile units eldar have running around
Really nice to hear the collaboration and i think the video was great as it was. However, i think this collaboration would be improved if there was a bit more discussion between rhe two of you, rather than just separate commentary on each unit without any interaction. This video was huge and perhaps it would be even longer if you did a discussion as i suggest. So much information in this so thank you both!
This was a great video idea AT. You should continue this theme with popular faction-specific TH-camrs. Just some examples but maybe ProxyHammer or Skari for Aeldari/Drukhari and Exile Wargaming for Harlequins. HappyKrumpin Wargaming would be great for Orks, 40K Dirtbags for Chaos/Grey Knights.
I agree, but actually mostly because he brings a lot of fun to the table. My opponents are almost always surprised when he one shots something and that is worth a lot 😁
How to fix Aircraft in 10th Edition: if they have the Aircraft keyword in the deployment phase, they have to start in strategic reserve. However, when deployed from strategic reserves they can be setup anywhere in the board that is more than 5 (or possibly 3) inches away horizontally from enemy models.
Something I'm looking at with the servitors is a unit of Kasrkin as a base with a Cadian Castellan and Enginseer w/ Servitors that are rocking a heavy bolter and multi-melta. Then toss all of that into a Hades Breaching Drill. I think it will do well with the Born Soldiers change.
I admit I dont understand the Lord Solar lore hate. Its THE Lord Solar. Ofc he looks completely different from platoon commanders and regimental officers. Cyber-horse and golden armor seem absolutely appropriate.
The ogryn bodyguards are pretty great ive found, having a 20 man blob with a command squad and a psyker means having a 20 man squad bieng wounded on T6 with a 4 up invun means you can give movement orders to get up onto objectives quick while being tough to move. And kasrkin buff stacks with ursulas. So kasrkin can have 3 orders. Again having a psyker attatched to them as well means 3+ save 4+ invun 3 shots each hitting on 2+ makes them devastating. With plasma or meltaguns. Has won me loads of games
Imo all tournaments should explicitly set up their board terrain such that every model in the game will have one path at least to move on. I don't think that would be hard to do and it wouldn't even necessarily reduce the density they would just need to consider placement. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that a tournament can pretend to be competitive essentially removing models from play by explicit choices they make that differ from GW.
Can we just appreciate for a moment that irl the light towed field gun is much more common and easy to field than the heavy SPG. Balance through real world factors. Lol.
I remember I had a game against a Guard list that had Ratlings (I was playing Chaos Marines), where the only thing they achieved was shaving two wounds off of one of my Lords. I actually forgot about them until my opponent picked them off the table at the end of the game lol.
Scions are my favorite guard unit. Been running loads of 10 man squads with 2 CS and some Taurox primes. And i like to back them up with a russ or two. All around been having a blast with them.
So, I have 34 Guardsmen and 3 heavy weapons models. Originally I was going to run a 20 block of guard, a 10 block of guard, and a 3 man heavy weapons squad. But would it be better to run it as: 14 guard, 2 sergeants, 2 heavy weapons. 7 guard, 1 sergeant, 1 heavy weapon. 9 guard, 1 sergeant? Worth noting that 2 guardsmen are true spares from a friend who didn’t need them, 2 of them would be the basic dudes taken out of a Command Squad. But breaking up the command squad could justify making its leader a “Cadian castellan” (he has a plasma pistol and energy sword, seems fine to me).

@@ranch2970 you ok?
@@ranch2970can we just get rid of this guy out of the comments. Spamming his BS is starting to P me off
@@ranch2970 this guys a joke! Auspex and Mordian are so classy. I think your talking about that bolt action thing comment about not feeling comfortable playing the Germans. Honestly that was one of the lowest IQ takes I ever heard in my life. I fully support Mordian on his take and 110% agree.
@@navitgator16add in Tank Shock and wow, something is hurting 😁
Using grav chute like that requires putting your scions in harm's way, either for shooting or a charge, so a little to situational for me.
There's an easy way to justify a commissar showing up behind enemy lines by his lonesome.
It's called the Caine Protocol 😂

My two favorite people on TH-cam yet again in another great video.
And remember!, 4+ in overwatch! while near a regiment unit
@@marcialrodriguez6285 While near a Platoon-type unit(the infantry battleline units), but yes.
They wont always do a lot, but for 60 pts, they will often make back their points either through direct damage, or through being a distraction/diverting damage away from more important units.
@@fendelphi sorry yes, and platoon command squad xD
Oh, amazing collaboration. Thanks for making this video
You know what i want the sentinels to have to option of the chainsword or a heavy stubber underneath it. I think it can work
Watching this as I assemble my first leman russ (a 2009 demolisher). I couldn't have asked for a more fitting video
Outstanding collaboration, I am a big fan of Auspex and Mordian. Thank you for doing this.
Awesome to see a collaboration with two of my favourite 40k youtubers, mordian glory and auspex!
Thank you guys!
I miss Creed and Kell. I wish they would just make the death strike good its a bloody nuke
They should make it count as a special character, and then it could be good.
The style and teamwork to make this is fantastic. Excellent review.

You two are my favourite 40k TH-camrs, so always happy to see you collab. This was a great video as I work to figure out how to increase my 1k army to 2k.
I bet people hate playing you though now LOL
Really appreciate the video guys!
I love the tech priest, never had to make em repair something but he once beat a squad of daemonettes to a pulp after they had managed to score one wound on a shadowsword
It's always great to see the lore and gameplay align.
Ursula gives me vibes of Mrs. Trunchbull.
Oh, that could be the result after a sweaty night with Ursula and Straken..
What a great video really sums up the guard without getting too dense.
2:40 It should've been Macharius
Omg! This collab is a dream come true!
An exceptional video, well put together with good hosts.
Great video, really enjoyed this one! Imperial Guard are one of my favourite armies to play against, always like to do a bit of killing and a bit of dying 😂 I'd love to see a collaboration video with Proxy Hammer down the line when the Eldar codex comes out 👍
I want to watch to this; but to see any content on my 6yr boxed up Guard army hurts my soul. Even if I can't watch it, I'm sure you did a good job and the collaboration went well, cheers.
Eradicator is a sleeper, running two of them and they are great. Lots of shots with ignores cover and Urban Warfare means I'm not scared of getting tied up. Also great against medium strength units
Thanks! Great info and collab
Ursula Creed out here looking like she wants to make Matilda's school life miserable.
This filled the mordian glory hole in my heart!
oh no...
Great, the lunch lady descriptor is so apt for Ursula I'll have to call her that from now on.
I feel like they are using heavy armored units to go against infentry killing units, the HWS do really well against infentry for how little they cost.
LOVE THIS CROSSOVER.
More of this please! Do Tau with the folk from the Puretide Programme!
Didn’t expect this cross over but am loving it!
Pointwise - Iron Hand Straken is be far the most useful character for the guard.
Or allow them to make an actual move from any table edge when they would be deployed, that way bombers are not totally gimped.
Eh, not really feeling it. Needs a huge area that the enemy didn't screen, and 110 points for the drill to get some T3 guys up close..
Legendary crossover! Thanks 😊
Auspex Tactics and Mordian Glory is the best bromance on TH-cam, fr.
Love these collabs!!!

This must be one of the best cross overs iv ever had the privilege to witness!
What a delightful crossover.
Never would have guessed that You watch/know of Mordian
Amazing collab!
I admit I dont understand the Lord Solar lore hate.
Its THE Lord Solar.
Ofc he looks completely different from platoon commanders and regimental officers.
Cyber-horse and golden armor seem absolutely appropriate.
The collaboration I've been waiting for. Finally
You both deserve a medal!
Taurox model should have just been a halftrack. Conversion kits that put two beefy wheels on the front axle completely change how this vehicle looks.
Lol.
Thank you for doing these. I'm tempted to start a guard army but it can be overwhelming with all the choices.

Good work on the audio for this. Too many collab videos have one person loud and the other inaudible.
I remember I had a game against a Guard list that had Ratlings (I was playing Chaos Marines), where the only thing they achieved was shaving two wounds off of one of my Lords. I actually forgot about them until my opponent picked them off the table at the end of the game lol.
25:57 I think we'll the word auxiliary stuff is what makes a WW2 (or WW1) army and makes it guard.
Love you guys! thanks for the commentary... 07
Kasrkin are some of the best looking models
As a guard main faction player I can't wait to build some models and watch this (Shout-out to Mordian Glory!)
But would it be better to run it as:
14 guard, 2 sergeants, 2 heavy weapons.
What do you mean a “20 block” of guard? As in 20 dudes in one squad? Because that isn’t a thing.
