The 1.5x overbet from Charlie at 26:30 is nasty work. He is good enough to put you on a tight range and get you to call, and good enough to know you might fold that same tight range to the overbet. Glad I wasn't in that spot.
@@BenaBadBeatPoker you making the correct fold on river is the true nasty work. Not trying to be results oriented but I doubt charlie is finding enough bluffs in this exact position configuration against a good player like you on a runout like this. Had you called no one would blame you but it's a world class fold so nice job bena. Also preflop is interesting in this hand .... I agree its standard to just call preflop but it wouldn't be worst 5bet and puts him in a tough spot with his TT/JJ/AKo which seem to be 4betting 100% in charlies shoes. I still think calling preflop is super standard with AKo but you could make an argument for getting out of line with it. I assume charlie will be sigh/folding his TT/JJ here a lot to a 5bet which is a nice win. I've jammed this in similar spots being 150bb-200bb deep and seen them fold AK/TT/JJ before. And to be fair I've also ran into AA/KK a bunch so its a mixed bag lol. Maybe AKs/KK 5betting is good enough, but the offsuit combos might be able to get in there some %. Overall awesome video bena, woke up and watched it away before starting my session and helped warm up my brain, keep up nice work.
Great vid bud. Love the kj fold vs b75 the few bluffs he has here will probably be with the jx. My first thought was ship it for the bluff having the jack x sucks though. Keep the vids coming
can you please explain your thoughts for the following hands. plo player here. the QTdd vs TheWhaleston on J96ss 3 J. what combos do you bluff if not this one? won't he be jamming 66 on the turn and raise many Jx preflop? you do have 66 and J9 in your range and you unblock spades?! the 66 set on Q64r. you explain why a lead would be great (to induce Veni's loose range) and then decide to check raise against a range you call "full of bluffs", and ultimately decide to c/c lol ( better option than c/r i think, but i don't know about nlhe ranges. I assume you're flatting many queens preflop and therefore a lead on the turn makes the most sense) .
In the QT hand I can bluff combos of 75, 87 and T8 given I have all the offsuit combos pre. plenty of these will contain a spade ofc which arguably make worse bluffs otr but I will definitely have 87o no spade for example. as for the 66 hand, as I said, my initial thoughts were that my hand was plenty strong enough to bet or xr but then upon reflection (stemming from the big bet from veni), coupled with him cold calling button with T6s and generally playing loose, if we attribute 32 value combos it is going to extraordinarily unlikely that he has enough value hands that bet call that are worse. I’m still a little unsure if raising is better and as I said in the vid it prob just is gunna be fine
Hi Ben. I wanted to ask about the 88 hand against Jonathan Little which occurs at 12:43 in the video. This for me is the exact type of hand that I find quite tilting when I'm playing myself. It's a hand where you jammed for value and get pipped by a very slightly better hand. In this hand Jonathan has 99 and 3-bet jams over your X/R. I was surprised to see how keen both players were to get all the money in on the flop. I play in nitty microstakes pools where people don't stab that aggressively in 3-bet pots. They 3-bet bluff jam over X/Rs even less often. Obviously you were quite confident in having the best hand enough of the time to stack off, and Jonathan was confident enough himself to 3B jam. Is this a standard stack off for you with just 88? Are there any opponent types where you wouldn't want to stack off on the flop with this hand?
hey mate, thanks for your question. it’s would ordinarily be a pretty unideal stack off for me, but not so much given the dynamic and how Jonathan was playing. all my options were pretty marginal for sure. vs the average player I don’t play my hand way. they have to be very capable (usually relatively high agg or wwsf stats). in your shoes at micros this would be an unacceptable line vs anyone but a huge whale
Really enjoyed the content. I’m trying to improve my sizing strategy (I only play small stakes live as a rec) and I think I’m picking up some good info. Cheers
