ebay has kits for like $16, you get the primary funnel, regular narrow funnel for transmission and engine, oil filter socket with cutout for sensor and a troff(However you spell it) funnel for the oil filter with a hose on it to drain below. They also include a nail? Probably to stick in the old oil filter and remove lol, but I just used the filter socket.
How do u check that if ur primary needs oil I know like u have ur oil dip stick and eye glass for the brake fluid and then transmission oil aswell how would u check the primary
@@RedlinePowersports just got my M1 license and got a free 1981 Honda CX500 with the condition to make it run, wish me luck cuz after fixing this Honda I’m selling it to get a Iron 883.
True for that bottle. But if you have a fat mouth and you tip it all the way up the bottom of the oil bottle is beyond the lip and it drips on the floor.
I use Red Line Gear in my trans, and a synthetic in my primary. I changed my derby cover a few weeks later and found the gear oil dripping from that hole you used (the clutch adjustment). I believe Harley calls the condition “oil migration.” Does oil migration happen in reverse?
@SQUID_Road_Glide No, it won't. Oil migration is a fault, and there's a fix that involves venting the primary. HD has a service kit and there's a video on it @HD Brest's channel.
Check your service manual for quantity and oil level. The manual is always what you should follow. Rule of thumb is, fill to the bottom of the diaphragm spring. (Usually a quart)

Back in the day we called it “Walking Oil.” Thanks for the reminder! Great tip!
You just saved me $25 and 50 mile round trip .
Glad to hear it!!

Holy crap!
Now I don't have to scrounge around for that funky orange funnel anymore.
Thanks
I subscribed because you earned it.
Awesome tip
If you have someone with you it helps a lot to have them tip the bike to the side that way nothing spills
eBay has the 3 funnel set for $10. That is a good tip if you find yourself without..
That's a sweet trick. I already had a stinger funnel that fit in the cutout, but I'll do this from now on! Less cleanup makes me happy
Keeping it simple. Nice. Good and functional tip, sir. Btw, those glasses are dope, bro. Stay safe.
Fckn right. Like it
Quick cleanup too! Great tip!
I don't take the derby cover off. I put it in thru the inspection plate. Plus I check my tensioner all the same time. Next!
I did the same on my FLHR, but do not have one on my FXDF... I fill that primary the same way as he does... good stuff!
hey thats a good idea, ill remember that when i change primary oil, tnx
Wonderful tip I didn't know 😮
Bad ass - great idea Thanks Ride On
Great tip. I was able to stick the bottle end in the right hand side as it seemed a bit wider. That fancy Harley funnel is 25$ !!
Or pour it in the primary chain inspection cover, up amd to the left.
Either way works 🙂👌
Good job!
Nice tip!
Good tip Waukesha. 😉 West Allis
Nice!
Can you please 🙏 make a video on how to adjust that exact clutch. Thank You
Solid! Thanks for sharing.
About to do my 1st change....thanks for the tip
I get an empty oil red line bottle, cut out the bottom, cut the top off 45 degrees, free funnel fit right in there.
Brilliant 👏
Thank you
RedLine Shockproof Heavy Duty is THE ONLY oil I'll use in the transmission on my bike.
my regular oil funnel fits right into that hole. I'm not sure why people use the special funnel
Cool. I'm actually about to flush my primary, but I have the little orange cheater funnel.
Thanks Wisconsin!
Glad to help!
F’n genius!
Damn, too late, already got the Primary funnel. 😂
Right on dude!!
👍
thank you buddy, you made it look so easy lets hope all the oil doesnt go every where when i do it.
Here’s a better way. Turn oil bottom upside down. Stab very bottom side. Flip it over and the oil will shoot out the side hole
If you have a bike with an inspection cover you can just fill it through that
Thanks!
You bet!
Nice! Thanks!!!!!!
Gang gang 🔥

Ok you got me, I’m subscribed 👍
Haha thanks! Glad to have ya!

Smart thx
Thanks
Yessir!
Wow !!!! I will never figure that one out
Oh wow!!!
Check out the new Sanpietro Designs Rapid Fill Derby Cover.
True for that bottle. But if you have a fat mouth and you tip it all the way up the bottom of the oil bottle is beyond the lip and it drips on the floor.
And to think I just let mine have a nap and poured it in 😂
😆
What kind of primary oil goes in a 1200 roadster
Except I change my Primary oil on the Jiffy. Save that bottle. You can make a great funnel out of it.
I do too, with a block of wood under it. Size depends on ride height. Right now 2-1/8" puts me almost vertical.
Q.changed my oil it was low 😮 what's your thoughts on checking on level and reuse derby gasket?
Make shure your bike is upright!
Waukesha!!!!!!!!!!!!
What are your thoughts on reusing the primary solid disc gasket?
We always replace with a new gasket every time
🙏🙏
Here's a tip. Tip the bike
Thats the same way my dad taught me 😂😂😂
Well dam
👍🏾
Now just put Harley oils in it😁
What if you don’t have a hydraulic clutch and just have an adjuster nut there?
Just put the mouth of the bottle on the adjuster rod and pour it like this video. Works for both
Kaaaa BooooooM !

I can't say I've seen it before...I've seen leaking derby covers but it's usually caused by the seal or damaged surface.
@SQUID_Road_Glide No, it won't.
Oil migration is a fault, and there's a fix that involves venting the primary. HD has a service kit and there's a video on it @HD Brest's channel.
How do you know when it’s full?
Most primaries take 1 quart but check your service manual to be sure
I use mobile 1 20w50 and it's got a wide mouth bottle what's your tip for them?
Same thing 🙂
@@RedlinePowersports lmao yeah right
😳😩🤩💪🤘
Does that work with wider mouth bottles though?
Most bottles, yes.
My dudes, I used the same 2 liter bottle I had already cut to catch the splash from my oil filter.carry a pocket knife lol
Do you work on older bikes? As in 2000 Fat Boy?
We typically go back to 2006
Nice trick I melt a hole in the cap and squirted in
Use a tape measure.
Uggh....I feel so dumb
😅😅 but now you know 👍
How do we know when to stop filling it? Any Gauge
Check your service manual for quantity and oil level. The manual is always what you should follow. Rule of thumb is, fill to the bottom of the diaphragm spring. (Usually a quart)
You fill it to the bottom of the cover
No, you do not.@@smak937
dude you are changing oil on a stand....is that ok? Shouldnt be the bike on the lift? And how much to put in?
It's on a stand. The bike is on a lift.
@@RedlinePowersports i mean that is not important, the bike should be up straight, and now it is under andlg ebecause it is on the stand...read manual
@makemoneyrelax the jiffy stand is down but the bike is not resting on the jiffy stand. The bike is upright
Maaaan shutup. You are loud AND wrong.
Take to long dud😂😂😂😂😂
Are you related to Mr. Guns&gear?
Nope I don't think so
@@RedlinePowersports you 2 seem like youd be related.
++lmao++
Funnel works quicker
Just put the bike on it's side... no funnel needed.
😂😂
Harley bottles are too wide mouth.
That's why you go with Redline Synthetics...also because they are awesome 😎
That’s not quicker than a funnel
Quicker than finding one 😉
@@RedlinePowersports 🤣😂
It will be much simpler to have one screw on top to fill it up. 🤷♂️
Fucking A
😆😆
Hahaha i feel like if you're changing your own fluids, y'all should have the common sense to drip the oil
My funnel takes me 30 seconds to dump the 32 ounces in this method probably takes 5 minutes
Slow
This is so stupid can you go out and buy a $20,000 or more Harley-Davidson motorcycle
Cool
I always wondered if anyone else figured this out. 😅
So easy" even a rice rocket rider could do it😂
