    I am not very a experienced war game player but attacking a powerful unit with half your force allowing your opponent to hit you back in full force it's very risky! I love and I always watch your battle reports, good work looking forward for your next one.

    I'm still not seeing a fun game here. This was just like their first game - results included - but with a campaign ending. Two sides smashed into one another, and the Spartans, predictably, won; even without the slingers. The heroic challenge went down identically too - but with 8 attacks! Looking fwd to another game that's more than a single, central combat.

    Looks fun. I like games built around campaigns, but sounds like this is well thought out so that a few defeats early on don't just make you a punching bag forever in the campaign

    It would be nice to see some different lists, not really sure how the armies work when the spartans keep beating the romans.

    So, according to the SPQR FAQ V1.1 (which came out Aug. 21, 2019, a couple of weeks after this video released) they would only have been rolling melee dice for opponents in base contact with one another. Is that correct? That would have been far less dice and a lot less lethality.

      @@robouteguilliman9166 Thanks. I looked at their website and don't see it. Is it out of production, do you think? (I looked through 21 pages of terrain and 3 pages of Hail Caesar terrain twice)

      TorianTammas he’s not saying this is Dark Ages.
      He’s saying “I normally like Dark Ages stuff [which this isn’t], so this sort of thing isn’t usually what I like... but I’ve been enjoying it”.

    Love this game and battle reports. A couple mistakes I've seen. Slings are lethal 1 not lethal 2. If a unit has double the melee stat of their opponent (+4 as opposed to +2) the lower stated unit is minus 1 to hit.

    Was interested in this game, but if the battle report shows more of the dice tray than the table, i know it's not for me. Roll attacks, reroll attacks, roll saves, roll attacks again, reroll attacks again, roll saves.... a lot of rolling to resolve one action. Shame, got me excited at first!

  • @damuses1452
    @damuses1452 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Spartans are blatantly overpowered as developed in this game (as indicated by watching each of the videos in this SPQR sequence). Perhaps the SPQR save system (parry/shields/et cetera), along with particular unit statistics/abilities, could stand revision. Otherwise, I love the era of combat this game represents.

    Greek rules I guess.

    The miniature games wheel seems not to be reinvented, they try hard, but at the end it`s almost the same thing every time. And I don`t give a damn if e.g. I`ll roll with D10s or D6s, have a re-roll here and a special hero skill there - looks still like Fantasy Battle, sorry. I think the last nice "new-ish" mechanic I`ve seen was the activation mechanic in Bolt Action...

    • @GuyMaleMan
      @GuyMaleMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well there is nothing new under the sun. Its almost impossible to create a bizarrely new and inventive system that works for table top games. As long as the game is fun, it doesnt have to be ground breaking in my book

  • @rbale2
    @rbale2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The game seems basic and unfinished, not to mention kinda boring bucket o dice
