I spent some time with the @JRGarage brothers out in Arizona recently and we filmed a video with their $17,000, salvage title (due to a really minor non-serious issue) Fisker Karma! This hybrid luxury sedan faced some serious hurdles, and unfortunately they never really took off. Despite this, it has some really unique features, seriously exotic styling and interesting technology. We talk about what the car has been like, some of the pros and cons, reliability and more!

The owner most likely fixed most of the issues. Cause these cars are dope... however if you didn’t get 1 almost fully updated/fixed it will be a nightmare. It gets really hot in the engine Bay Area. So if u use sport mode a lot... it seems like a lot of the washer fluid will start to evaporate. U supposed to get at least 30 to 37 ev miles when it’s in like new condition. The AC blows very hard n operates in a very weird way. The solar roof it helps in 3 that’s useful 1) the 12 volt lasts very long & is always topped up when parked in the sun. 2) the fan will turn on to keep it kinda cool in the cabin. 3) it help with a/c & aux power usage on low output which reduce the load on the hv battery pack.
How do you fix all those issues?? I'm looking at getting a 2012.

The passenger side on the later cars I worked on adding the lock cylinder.So some models do have an option to use key to open the car if you are out of battery power.
When I first encountered a Fisker Karma, I thought it was the new C6 Vette until I saw the rear doors.
Impressive EV.
The speaker exhaust was something they had planned to have the ability to download customizable exhaust tones (like the popular at the time ring tone).

These cars look so cool but the powertrain is just too strange for me to get behind.
I have a Chevy volt that works about the same exact way just isn’t as fast or nice as this. The power train is actually far more reliable because of the way it works. And it looks like he gets the perks of the 2.0t with the reliability of an electric ev. It’s complex but genius
I spent a lot of time in the plant.... PPG Industries agreed to work with Fisher on this Paint/Body project... lost money BIG TIME. Was fun though... I would buy one today for $17K if I could find one. Running or Not.

These cars are total JUNK . They explode and catch on fire . They are under investigation and have law suits pending plus they are out of business. Did you hear him say he got it at a salvage auction ?
They stopped making the car and it got revived not too long ago as the karma revero.
