It’s fantastic that this video has just recently shot up and gained a bit more attention. Really nice to see plenty of Geordies here too, welcome! ⚫️⚪️
@@da90sReAlvloc apologies for the late reply. The word has become associated with people from Gateshead too, but also generally fans of Newcastle United (football team). So I guess the definition has become a little ambiguous
Last year I managed to lose my passport in Gdansk, so I decided to do a little cheapskate local UK tour with Flixbus and National Express while I waited to receive a new one because I haven't seen that much of it despite living in Wales for ages and I always thought of the UK as somewhere you live in rather than a holiday destination. I did Bristol - Cornwall - Bath - Manchester - Liverpool - Lake District - Glasgow - Highlands - Edinburgh - Newcastle - Durham - York - Cambridge - Oxford and I have to say that Newcastle was one of my favourite places. A very charming city with a very interesting history; lovely people; and nightlife was out of this world. 10/10
Thankyou for supporting Newcastle United ❤️. I hope you are enjoying this season, Newcastle are playing really well and I believe and hope they are only going to get even better. Good luck and very best wishes to you and thankyou for your comment.
That wasn't just a fab tour, but a great tribute to an amazing place. I'm a proud Geordie but moved down south in my teens. Every time I came home on the train my heart would melt when crossing the river and seeing the bridges. I'm so pleased I moved back to the North and came home to Newcastle. Thank you Ben! 🥰
We have American cousins. Going around Newcastle as a 'tourist' was enlightening. It's amazing what you take for granted, on your own doorstep. It's just where you live and 'boring'. Newcastle is steeped in history which is largely ignored.
Newcastle is beautiful! I've been living there for almost a year now. Geordies are the finest I've met in Britain and I'd lived across the country. I really appreciate the fact that you're promoting our beloved motherland - Poland. To be fair, Geordies and Poles are very similar personality wise. All the best mate!
Great informative video and so well presented 👏 I only discovered the beauty of Newcastle and the surrounding areas when visiting my daughter last year, she's relocated there for work and study and loves it. The WOW! Moment for me was emerging up from Monument metro station for the first time and taking in the whole of Grey Street 😍 Two weeks ago I visited again and it didn't disappoint, Newcastle is a hidden gem plus Geordies are the most friendly and welcoming people (it's not a myth!) I'm originally from the South but the whole of the North East has captured my heart, so much so I'm now planning on relocating next year too! 🇬🇧
My Grandad was head of ARP during the war and leading up to the war starting he was instrumental in getting the Victoria tunnel opened. For his work he was given the MBE which was presented to him at St James Park by the King. He also escorted the King and Queen across the newly opened Tyne Bridge so technically he was the first person to cross the bridge. I have a photo of him on horse back leading the royal carriage across the bridge.
Born and raised here but cant help watching videos like this always makes me so proud. It wasnt until i moved to london then moved back that i noticed how beautiful Newcastle is. You pretty much hit on evey detail i noticed when i returned, the columns of grey street, the wall beside china town its all in a small city with lots to see if you look
Great video! Thanks Ben. I'm an Australian who got married at St Mary's/Station Hotel and some of our wedding supplies accidentally got delivered to the Lit & Phil. Currently reading a book about the amazing Armstrong who of course also was a Lit & Phil regular. Ever since I visited Cragside I have found him inspiring. I don't know that most Geordies appreciate what a visionary he was. Whenever I see videos like yours about Newcastle it literally brings tears to my eyes. I really miss it. It's time to start planning another trip back with my wife and children. A long haul from Australia, but worth it.

Fantastic compact city, excellent transport, plenty of value hotels and pubs, bars and plenty of other attractions whatever your age. Get to the coast on the metro and the surrounding countryside is also beautiful. The people are very friendly and where else can you buy stottie cake and peas pudding.
Seems to be a few former Newcastle Students here :D same for me great times spent on ricky road, digital and ouseburn. I really enjoyed Newcastles compactness, being able to go from Jesmond into town or over to ouseburn in a 5 minute uber or being able to get over to the coast in 20 minutes on the metro. Even got to get up to Edinburgh and Glasgow for weekends away for less than £20 return. Amazed by the airport destinations too. I never did the tunnel tour but I do remember seeing an enterance to it in Spital Tonges, sadly fully closed off but the tour provider had a placard explaining what it was and how you could get into it from Ouseburn. I'm guessing thats where the mine used to be. Newcastle really is a gem.
Great video, managed to get some ideas for my boyfriend who is visiting Newcastle for the first time next week (long distance relationship). I’m from Newcastle as well. Never been in the tunnels before but have been meaning to for ages. I always love the views from the Castle.

Came across your piece by chance and thoroughly enjoyed it. If a short film can have the sort of impact where you want to make the journey yourself then that’s the sign of a successful post. Well done you. Loved it.
Loved your perspective on Newcastle! The city's vibrant culture is amazing. For those who enjoy exploring local markets, the Quayside Market is a must-visit. I recently did a walk-through.
Some great details. Could've also mentioned river under city and that's why it's called new bridge street, the guildhall, the old prison cells, blackfriars, metro system, there was once a zoo at bottom of bigg market giraffes, elephants etc , the great fire of newcastle, town Moor etc
Great video mate. Was only in town once before for a match ⚫⚪ (stayed less than 48 hours). Coming back for the Sam Fender gig next week and spending 6 glorious days in the Toon so this was super helpful for extra things to see and do beyond what we had planned!

Another great and super interesting video! I will have to visit Newcastle again. Last time I was there 20 years ago … it looks so lovely!
A lot has changed in 20 years!😁 thank you 😇

Aye Spot on Mate.
Great and very informative video Ben ! Cheers mate
Great video, managed to get some ideas for my boyfriend who is visiting Newcastle for the first time next week (long distance relationship). I’m from Newcastle as well. Never been in the tunnels before but have been meaning to for ages. I always love the views from the Castle.
Thanks a lot Jack. Would deffo recommend checking out the tunnels, take care 😊
Great video -- thanks for putting it together
the Bee Hive is my grandad's "office" as he calls it lol. Awesome video btw, nice to see more people appreciating our beautiful city
Thank you, and that’s cool. I’ve never been inside that pub actually!
@@BenRobson123 I mean, it's a bit of a dive tbh lol spent many a days in there myself with my grandad though. It's cozy and friendly, but yeah kinda grubby. Grandad been going there 5 days a week for like the past 40+ years for best part of the day
I was born and I live in Gateshead. It's definitely a place unique to other cities in the world.
Absolutely!
Thanks for that video. I've been planning to go to Newcastle for a while. But it's is now definitely on my list this year.

Heyyyyyy, i studied in Newcastle! ... 20 years ago. I love that place. Your metro is fantastic, if it's still around that is. It's been too long.
Great video mate
Cheers Scott!
I would not fancy the underground tunnel myself but fab to discover this. Great shots of Newcastle being a fellow geordie I have really enjoyed this
Thank you Catherine!
Hi Catherine
Came across your piece by chance and thoroughly enjoyed it. If a short film can have the sort of impact where you want to make the journey yourself then that’s the sign of a successful post. Well done you. Loved it.
Thank you very much for this amazing video, it felt as if I was there in person. Stay blessed and bless us with more videos like this one.
I really appreciate that, many more to come I’m sure 😁
What a lovely place! Thank you for sharing a big part of your city. I hope I can visit it very soon😊❤
You’re very welcome, hope you get to visit too!😇
Greetings from Montréal, Canada.

Loved your perspective on Newcastle! The city's vibrant culture is amazing. For those who enjoy exploring local markets, the Quayside Market is a must-visit. I recently did a walk-through.
Thank you! It is a great city, thanks for the comment 😇
Great video and very informative Ben, keep up the good work
Some great details.
Amazing. How was Sam Fender? Must’ve been an incredible atmosphere! Hope you enjoyed your stay in Newcastle 😁
@@BenRobson123 It was a great time in the Toon sir. Got the wife convinced to move to Tynemouth. Now just gotta figure out how to get visas 😆
