Beautifully done ! I'm a tour guide lecturer in the glorious city of Rouen, Normandy, and I find this video comes as close as it can get to a real tour, with an added value in the sounds and visuals. It was a nice walk in Liverpool and you managed to show its many faces and lives. Thank you for your many labours and efforts :)

@@simonpackham5780 Thanks ! Fortunately it was a small fire in the scaffoldings of the top of the spire. As everything is metal or fireproof the fire didn't spread. It lasted less than an hour.

Thank you Rob. I've enjoyed your London episodes so very much but as a "Scouser" I was delighted with your take on Liverpool. Very comprehensive and caught the flavour of the city. A couple of buildings that would have been worth adding would include the Philharmonic Hall, Philharmonic Pub and Bluecoat Chambers. All are interesting architecturally but I appreciate that you cannot cover everything. We'll done, I loved it.

It is years since I had a pint of bass bitter. Up until a few years ago you could buy cans of shandy bass. Also the name Bass is the oldest brand name in Britain. On another note Lime Street railway station is the world's oldest main line station. Manchester Liverpool Road is the world's oldest station but it is not a main line one.

I too was born and brought up in Liverpool but left when I was 21. Can I, like a great many other Liverpudlians, thank you for doing a wonderful job.
As a young lad I used to visit my grandmother who lived close to Cains Brewery and to get there I walked up and then down Park Road at the bottom of which (near the church) stood a building which showed evidence of the Blitz. Lots of holes in the stonework around the door. Near the TA barracks on Aigburth Road there used to be bunkers for anti aircraft guns which we used to play in as kids.
In a similar way to the Thames estuary, Liverpool had anti aircraft towers erected in the estuary of the Mersey.

Absolutely brilliant episode Rob! And great to see you out of the capital. I lived there for a brief time 30 years ago and loved it. The Williamson Caves are fascinating - labyrinths built for no reason whatsoever and Rodney Street that links the two Cathedrals - the ultra modern Catholic one being completed before the Anglican is a fascinating street with the Philharmonic pub.
