The worst part of Paper 3 isn’t the essay, it’s the other questions on the paper. I just can’t do them at all as they’re mainly calculations and practical based - so doesn’t really require actual knowledge as much…
I’m so upset that Biology and Chemistry exams are so close together this year! Maths too unfortunately, I have no idea how I’m going to prepare for Bio paper 3, Maths paper 3 and Chem paper 2 and 3.
Bestie I'm doing bio chem and maths and I wanna kms, I had a clash, between chem paper 1 and french paper 1, then today I had chem paper 2 and french paper 2. I'm actually hating my life rn and I've heard that maths is almost as bad with it being one day away from chem almost every damn time
I've heard that potential essay questions could be importance of: 1) energy transfers 2) responses to the environment I have used you video on the 2 useful topics, e.g. proteins -> immune response (for response to the environment) to try plan these. I was wondering what other topics you would recommend for these, especially energy transfer
For energy transfer: - nitrogen cycle - photosynthesis - the general transfer of energy in an ecosystem discussing food chains and food webs - absorption of glucose involves active transport - carbon cycle - respiration
Can you write about the same concept twice but in different contexts? For example the sodium potassium pump in glucose absorption and the sodium potassium pump in maintaining the resting membrane potential?
I'm not a teacher but I would say no, cause you have limited time to write your essay so you want to show all your knowledge and if you write about the pump more, it will seem as tho your knowledge is limited and I'm sure it isn't. Hope this helped!
You absolutely can, yes. As long as it is from different parts of the spec and the IMPORTANCE is different, you could write all 4 paragraphs about sodion potassium pumps
Hi Miss, I attended your essay session on the 24th of May but I never got the follow up email with the link to rewatch it, is there any way I could please access this?
Hi, was just wondering if it’s ok to use the same/ similar AO2 in multiple paragraphs? For example, if talking about cycles can you say in one paragraph ‘the importance of the cardiac cycle is to produce oxygen for aerobic respiration which produces ATP for metabolic processes etc’ and then in the next paragraph say ‘the calvin cycle is important because it produces a hexose sugar such as glucose which is needed for respiration in the glycolysis stage, this is important because glycolysis produces ATP for metabolic processes etc’. Can’t figure out if the reason they are important must be from a different spec point each time. Thank you for the video!
Its OK to.have some similarities in AO2 yeah, but try and give different applied examples. So if ATP is the importance then give a different eg of its use
Hi miss, just wondering if for importence- this is what i've been doing- can be a different topic to what you've described if that makes sense? I'm currently planning an essay on 'importence of concentration gradients' as practice and I've done a paragraph on the importence of the electrochemical concentration established in the oxidative phosphorylation stage of respiration, then my second paragraph of why this importent as it makes 34 atp for muscular contraction?
hi miss, but im scared that if i dont link my paragraphs, the examiner who is marking my essay might not know that paragraphs do not have to link and so might mark me down, as my school biology teacher tells us to link the paragraphs.
Hi miss I’m confused about one thing. For example if the essay question is based on proteins, can I write about active transport for multiple topics such as one for nerves and another for the PCT In the nephron? Or can active transport only be used for one paragraph?
Search up the AQA spec, if ‘-‘active transport’ appears in only one spec point (from transport against substances) then no, you have to talk about different things. For example (this is made up) but if glucose and fats were in the same ‘box’, then you can’t talk about them as DIFFERENT points
Hi Miss, thank you so much for all of your videos! I was taught to have a describe paragraph and then an importance paragraph, so for example, a paragraph on enzymes for describe and then a separate paragraph for importance on digestion for example. Is this wrong? Should I be doing describe and importance in the same paragraph?
I know very little about essays but was taught to have it in all one paragraph, I think putting it all together may make it clearer for examiners that you have linked the importance of whatever you just wrote about, but I'm not too sure about that
hi! i was taught to do one paragraph AO1 then another on the AO2 link (so you end up with about 8 paragraphs overall). would that still work even though it doesn't correspond with your model? thanks :)
Hey guys!!! Thanks a lot Miss for all your help I just wanted to ask about significant errors if any knows how they’re marked So I believe I made one error by accidentally including the second messenger with insulin and not glycogen I’m not sure if I go down a band or not… does anyone have an idea ? Thanks a lot!!!
@@MissEstruchBiology hi miss for example control of heart rate, control of blood glucose and control of blood water potential are in different boxes in the spec- can more than one of these be used as separate paragraphs? because my teacher said you should only do one. thank you :)
Hi miss, could you tackle the essay like writing 5 different 6 mark answers? Also is it true that you cannot write beyond 2 a4 pages before the examiner ignores the rest?
I hate essays
as someone who is not that confident on biology i think papers 1 and 2 were nice so hopefully aqa keeps it going
What grade did you get?
all my ao2 ends up being about respiration and atp for metabolic processes i swear

this essay is the worst part of biology and i have my last four exams this week so i’m literally EXHAUSTED this ain’t it

I almost got full marks but before an introduction/ conclusion- so in that scenario I needed then, I am just going to do it.
It’s super confusing that my teacher says the most important thing is linking paragraphs like wth
Dont link then trust
my time management is awful and i’m worried that if i don’t start with the essay ill run out of time. What would you do?
The essay is probably harder to get marks in than the rest of the paper so do the rest of the paper first to bag the easier marks!

is it true that there is a listo of 20 topic titles they reuse/pick from each year? if so where can i find it ?

omg I really hope thats not true
no, it's very different to long answer qs.
and absolutely not true that examiners won't read it all!
