It really annoys me when dealerships put their corporate transfers and window stickers on a new car - but worse is some dealerships put badges on that need drilling so you have holes if you remove them…… now I stipulate “no badges or stickers or you keep the car” when I order a new car.
They are not paying us to advertise so no branding, regardless. 🎯

I think I’ve determined that holdover cars are to be held for 58 days. That’s also how long I held my Polestar before getting my Rivian today.
Have bought a few cars from CM over the years. Love going to them. Don’t mind one bit advertising for them on the trunk lid of my car. Back in the day they would insist that your “trade-in” was not actually a trade-in. Their purchase of your car was a completely separate transaction from your purchase of a car from them, even if both were done at the same time. So if you took them up on their 30-day money-back return, your old car was still theirs. They had bought it from you. Last time I did business with them they seemed to have changed that and now will treat your old car as a trade-in (though it’s a “no haggle” price they will pay you for it as well).
Carmax is such a great place to buy a car. Oh and the battery probably went down from other customers looking at it and sitting in it. The air conditioning probably kicked on every time people got in and out.

I have to admit, CarMax was a great experience for me selling my car. Way better than dealer trade-in or private sale.

For anyone having the creaking problem with the seat and the armrest in a older Model S with leather, rub just a little Vaseline where they meet and it disappears.

I bought a 2015 Model S 85D brand new, had it 5 years. Sadly Tesla sent a software update that really slowed down my supercharging speeds after a few years, all 85 packs were affected. I'm talking more than 1.5 hours to supercharge. I haven't forgotten that, it's a big part of the reason I drive a Lexus today.
Congrats Dave! I have bought several cars in CM and I love the experience as well, I believe you can ask them to replace any aftermarket accessories and request original parts. At least you can try!

THe car looks good, the only thing I'd look into is the battery., and see if you can tell whether it was abused (DC fast charged a lot and abused) or if the owner took care if the pack. That'd be the only worry. Had One old Used Tesla, Model S 85, and yeah, battery pack charging was, well, I didn't know better at the time. But I got rid of it for a hybrid.

Model S's are very, very, nice vehicles. The original production Tesla and still the best. Shows that updates can be made to keep a great initial design fully cutting edge for decades to come. Getting the basics right at the start ought to lower long-term new-model development costs to any manufacturer, to the eventual benefit of buyers in the future. Keep these going please, Young Kyle needs to have the master's example to help him improve his presentation.😉

Congrats! I upgraded my 100D as well to a '22 LR. Loving it! Enjoy.
I also had a 2018 P100D from 2018-2021. It never got above 155 kW charge speed even in perfect summer conditions, even though it was v3 SC. If I was concerned about DC charging I would only buy one vehicle the Ioniq 5 or it's cousin the GV60. They are charging monsters, look great, lots of features and comfort, etc.
My wife has the GV60 Performance. And I have had the IONIQ 5 in the past. You are 100% correct these E-GMP cars are charging beasts. However, I wanted a longer range car for road trips; preferably one that also charges just as fast at peak with a slow taper combined with a more reliable and ubiquitous network; I think I have found the right weapon of choice

100D had a low pack voltage at 30 mile range. Get the OBD adapter and a round wheel because seasonal slippery roads are coming.
New name suggestion: “White Lightning.” How did they do on price on your trade❓ My sense is it’s a good place to buy but the selling/trading side, not as much.

Another great video. I envy your ability to afford this beauty. I could do it, but it would hit my retirement account more than I like. I’ll need to be content with my paid off 2021 model 3 dual motor. Like you, I have the white on white. There are some other brand EVs I like, but the Tesla charger network trumps all other considerations.

I was looking at the average age of a Tesla owner and it seems 50+ is the answer. They are expensive cars and most younger people can't afford to put right pay for one.
I see you passing the same superchargers that I pass driving from Cape Cod to our daughters home in NJ. Lots of convenient Superchargers with food stops along the way. Yea superchargers!👍

i am starting to beleive that owners with free Unlimited SC are being slowed to encourage you to get out of it. (Like Apple IOS updates that slowed phones)

Congrats on the awesome Model S, what a great spec. It looks great with the tint and the T Sportline Uberturbines! Much better than Martians IMO. Carmax in East Haven is great, I bought my first EV from them, a 2015 Leaf. I have since moved on from that to a 38.3 kWh Ioniq EV and added a ‘22 Model 3 LR. Regarding free 3 years of EA charging with the Lucid, other manufacturers are offering that with their cars, the key here is that it’s great a) if they had enough stations and b) they worked. I would never take my Hyundai on a road trip, the Tesla supercharger network is just so great. Cheers and congrats again!
Just nevermind what the kids these days say about how cars should look. All I can say is that "I don't share their tastes." Once you ditch that Carmax sticker, you're done. Oh, except for trading that dang yoke for a real steering wheel. If you keep that yoke, then you'll have to name the car "Maverick."
what year was your 100D ? i know the slow SC rate of my 2015 MS 85D is what made me give up my Free lifetime SC to a 2020 White/White MS PL
On the issue of ccs charging equipment, you guys should investigate the new Tritium factory that just opened in Tennessee.

Will carmax be fixing the paint damage? How do you get the dealship decal off safely?
Decals came off no problem. Paint chip was disclosed and not fixed by Carmax. I didn’t want to press the issue with them as I want to have “my guy” look at the best solution to fix it if I choose to fix it
I'm in CT too. Not easy to buy a new Tesla in this state. I tried to buy a low mileage used 2021 Tesla Y from a Jeep dealership in CT in September 2022. I read on Tesla's website that the warranty doesn't transfer unless the used Tesla is bought directly from Tesla. I told the Jeep sales manager and he researched and came to the same conclusion. Do you concur? Thought you might have some knowledge. Thanks!
Hmmm. That info from the Jeep Dealer is TOTALLY wrong. The car is warranted from the manufacturer regardless of where you buy it. I have already had two different warranty claims for car; no issues at all! Thanks for watching

I really don’t see why people are so enthusiast about the looks of this car?? Guess I’m not into sedans. All new cars tend to look very similar, probably because they all use the same airflow design program to minimize wind losses.

What is the difference between a "Face Lift" Model S and a "Refresh" Model S?

Hi Dave. I have an almost identical model S that I purchased last year. Congratulations on not buying a new one; Model X and S values drop precipitously as soon as you drive them off the lot. This was not true even two months ago. You might wish to check the value of your current car before your 30 day trial is up. One question for you (after you have gone over some speed bumps): What do you think of the air suspension of the car?
Seems firmer than the 100D. Maybe because of the wheels/tires because I had 19” slipstream before and now have 20”’s

Congratulations and can't believe they have dropped model s warranty to 50k miles now.
Thats just over another year's driving with your trips to Florida and Colarado.
They used to give great battery warranties but know they replaced alot of battery packs under warranty and would rather it be at thieir cost than yours.
The difference in warranty between 3 and S helped justify the cost difference.
I think the carbon wrap looks goog and wheels ok and if you start spendimg money on that and fixing hood etc then your just losing the saving yoj feel you got buying that high milesage 9 month old car.
I disagree with kyle on hard life. They customised it with mud flaps to protect stone chips and wrapped mirrors and cameras and bought new wheels.

Cartainly drove it alot and god knows when car max bought it so could have been in system for month or two.

Discussing trading $80-108k cars every month or so is a bit of a “first-world” problem and not one that regular drivers can identify with. The fact that these types of figures do not apply to me in any sort of way does not mean I don’t enjoy watching Dave’s videos, because I do. I cannot identify with having those types of resources to just play with, that’s all.
