    What are your suggestions for prop for the 200 SS on a 19’5 javelin. Just installed a bobs action Jack plate and made sure I’m WOT right now I’m on a stock 19p Suzuki prop which doesn’t have near my speed I was getting out of my 175 Fitch. Which was 65 at WOT before she blew 😂 hoping to get more speed than 65 with 25 more hp

I’m running Suzuki 3x16x17 pitch. I can’t find a prop lower in stainless anywhere. Power tech makes a LSF4 4 blade 15, 16 and 17pitch. Should I do 4 blade or find after market prop? 16” dia I don’t have much options. Pretty screwed here

    I must have missed a video, what are the issues with the 200 zukis on different boats performance wise? Is it props? Or is it motor height adjustment? I guess i would think if you took 2 exact boats, and threw the 200 zukis on them they would both perform the same. But... maybe i missed that video.

  • @benblazek3305
    @benblazek3305 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Out of curiosity what types of issues are you having dialing the 200 zuk ss in? Anything to do with propping and torque issues on heavier glass hull's? I would imagine the zuk might be a slouch in the torque department because of those missing glory holes that other brands have in the 200 segment that generate gobs of torque... Just thinking out loud, but very curious.

    • @jnicks805
      @jnicks805 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s exactly the issue. It’s performance ratings stated under a specific load. Depending on application they’re both great. If your needs align with the Suzuki and you have a good dealer in your area. It wins In specific conditions. If the closest authorized Suzuki repair center is 1.5 hours away, get the merc! Another thing, I’d rather have Japanese than American made for any salt water application (not brackish), but salt, mercury has a strong corrosion warranty now, but it’s hard to prove up and actually get work covered (hell they call mercs anchors for a reason) Suzuki and Yamaha are designed with salt in mind.

  • @alphacapo
    @alphacapo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Elaborate on performance? Top end? Bottom end? What are the boats they work and don't work on? Is it a prop issue? Gear ratio issue?

Runs great very happy with the 4 stroke so far. To be fair I’ve never owned a Suzuki and all my boats have been outfitted with Merc. So I’m going with the track record I’ve experienced. I remember when the 200 HP Optima Max and Skeeter and Ranger boats were the best. In the earls 80s my family was camping out at Lake Worth Lake in Texas. They had a race out there and like 20 boats lined up all at once and held on to a road. My dad got laughed at when he pulled up to the starting line with a 140 Suzuki strapped on to his Thunderbolt bass boat. He got clocked at 92 MPH. If I remember correctly the second fastest boat was clock at 73 MPH. The race didn’t even look real. Dads boat was a 16’ Thunderbolt with a 10” jack plate and this fin he designed. My step mom worked at a air craft company and one of the engineers made the fin out of Air craft aluminum instead of steal. With the steel fin dads boat would go mid 70s. After the fin was made out of the aircraft aluminum is when it could hit the upper 80s. Back then the speed O on boats were only 65 - 75 MPH. Dad kept breaking his. He got tired of replacing it. It was clocked on Lake Granbury and Lake Worth and 92 mph was the fastest it’s ever been clocked at. After the boat was clocked at 92, he eventually ported and polished the heads and jetted the carbs. He drilled out the oil injectors on the cam to keep the engine cool. The boat was never clocked after the mods. Don’t know how many hours were on the motor but the motor now sit at the bottom of Lake Granbury. Dad and I we’re flying down the lake one early morning and we were WFO as he would say and we seen this motor beside us. The water was smooth as glass. That was the most scariest boat ride we have ever been on in our entire lives. Man that motor sounded so good. Sure miss my dad. We had some great times together. Best times ever were on the lake. Except this one time. LoL!!!

      Definitely the Mercury. The V8's are the best sounding motors on the market.

    There’s a video of Yamaha 250 and Suzuki 250 ss outboard side by side on the water ! How about u do a reaction to the video !

      We've seen that video. In our opinion the rig with the Suzuki is not set up properly or propped correctly. Would be a good video for us though! 👍🏻

    there are just so many Mercury dealers and there is always a shop close by in the north. HOWEVER, i have to drive 1hr 30min+ to have my Yamahas looked at.....

    The only option for a 200hp outboard is a Yamaha. It's a detuned 335hp motor, a simple ECU flash or swap and you can get 300hp or more.

    2 things, 1. How reliable are the mercs? Looking at a new boat and merc is really the only option. 2. You said suzuki 200 was the most reliable, what about yamaha or honda?

      We give the tick to Suzuki for reliability but we still believe in Yamaha products. They are rock solid too!

    If Suzuki could and the other brands could just make an outboard attractive their sales would double! That’s half the reason people choose mercury. They look so much better in the back. In all sizes
