I wish i was at smart as you and thanks for the setup ima try and replicate what you did with your router into my router into my ps4 which is very different. Easily the best channel for networking tips :)
Wow, your upload speed is actually faster than your download... currently we have about 142Mbps down and a mere 23Mbps up. This is on cable-- would love to have fiber access, which seems lacking in most places where I live. Despite this, we have great speeds for streaming Netflix on multiple systems, but things still suck for console gaming despite the big numbers. The elusive faster or even a synchronous upload speed seems to be ideal for a really spectacular gaming experience...
My internet cable connection is 50 down and 5 up which is laughable compared to yours. What would you recommend I put as my Kbps in the QoS box? I was thinking maybe 3,000. I play on Xbox One X wired using the cheap but good n600 you recently reviewed. Thanks. Subbed & liked. 👍🏼
Basically, what QoS is, is it makes the router cater to the PC/Console over everything else such as phones, smart TVs, tablets etc... In this example, he made his PC the priority device in the house. In the initial speed test, the router was distributing the 2.4ghz WIFI service evenly throughout the household, for example, brother, sister, mom and dad are all using their phones and computers at the same time so the load is going to everyone evenly. The more people using the WIFI at the same time, the slower the bandwidth speeds becomes. So BASICALLY, using QoS, he made HIS computer the priority by allowing his PC to use 50-70% of the routers bandwidth and leaving the other 30-50% for everyone else. So the second time he ran the test, it showed a greater speed rating. The Bufferbloat or Ping is the amount of milliseconds (ms) it takes for your computer or console to communicate with the server; the lower the ping the better. Hope that helped.
Keep in mind when he is setting up his QOS in that particular router it's only on the upstream bandwidth not the downstream, if you flip those the wrong way and say you have 100 mbps in upload when you really have 10 it's shaping it for 100 and will make you lag incredibly. Best thing to do if you have a old router If it's compatable is to flash a custom firmware on it and use there qos as it will be able to controll download and upload and have FQ_codel as the queining discipline as well.
Is QoS gonna work properly if i use a main router without QoS linked to a router with QoS who s gonna take all the devices in my house? I asked my provider and they told me that you should run QoS on the main router otherwise you should have problems. Unfortunately for warranty reasons i can t remove my 4g sim from the main router and move it to the 2nd one with QoS. Any idea how i can do it?

I have some experience about making the connection better, i even use ports and because of that I'm a top player in battlefield games but I always try to make my connection better to be better at the game. I found you today by a sudden and I'm glad that I found you. I don't want you to go in detail with me about the router but I just asked because you had alot of experience in making the connection better. So if you don't mind all what I need is just something I can follow in Google that can help me to find my QOS for this router (Coda-4582) thats all and if you didn't it's ok I appreciate your help. Thanks for responding. All the best for you :)
Thanks for the video. Does QoS impact LAN or only wifi? I am worried that if I allocate say 70% of my bandwidth to my ps4 it will take away from the two PC's that are hard wired to the router. If it only impacts WiFI it's perfect but I am worried it doesn't.
Internet Speed refers to either download or upload depending on the direction data is measured. Upload is what you send to the internetwork (lan->wan). Download is what you receive from the internetwork (wan->lan).
Haha still have problems cause the internet providers in germany ( most of them ) have the FRITZ BOX and u cant change ur max bandwith in up and download. The only thing u can do is give ur IP adress priority but if u do that and download smth u have unstable ping
just buy a "good" router and do not have that option. (AC1200)modem + router. is there any other way to improve the connection? download are good but upload very bad. thank for the videos
And now, my final question is this. Once I get my bridge mode and net gear n600, do I have to set a static IP for the Xbox one, port forward and all that? Or can I simply DMZ the Xbox only and bypass all that ? Is a static IP setup process necessary?
I'm wondering if this will help me out. I've been getting crazy lag with a weird 75mbps fios connection playing mostly NBA 2K19. Firewall then select your device which is the router then place in dmz mode button and click save. Both devices will need rebooting. Thats as close as you can get on the pace
You are unable to but the pace 5286ac in bridge mode but I have the Connectech support from AT&T since I had to purchase a block of static IP's for other things network related since I work out of my home. I am in no way "tech savvy" but I do my due diligence in research as well as follow this channel and a few others. I have a Netduma R1 router, which now recently will be changing I will have the new Netgear XR500 router Friday morning with the DumaOS software.... but like Gonzo stated placing your other router in DMZ mode is the best and closest option to bridging the routers. By doing so it made it easier to keep an open NAT on my XBOX oneX with simply placing the Netduma in DMZ mode. My only concern is that the pace 5286ac says its got IPv6 enable but doesn't seem to truly support it or doesn't let the cascaded router pass that enabling ability on to XBOX live.
YESSSS MANN I've been testing my speeds with qos and it chances my upload. When I put 1 mm on qos my upload is less than 1, and ruins my gameplay.
