The Russian VFX studio 'Main Road Post' has done an exceptional job in this movie. It is quite unfair that this studio is ranked 97 among the top animation and vfx studios in the world. They deserve to be ranked even higher.
+Andrii Surzhenko.....As far as I am aware there are only a few countries that subsidize the VFX industry. The highest subsidy is 17.5% paid by the Canadian Government to Canadian VFX industry. Which means that Canadian VFX studios get $17.50 back for every $100 they pay as tax. Maybe the Russian Government pays the salary for the employees in VFX industry while the owner takes the responsibility for paying for the IT/Software infrastructure needed to start the studio. The point I was trying to make from my previous comment is that studios with high talent should be ranked much higher. Who pays them is irrelevant?
This is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in my entire life. I mean holy shit, come on now. VFX artist never get the respect they deserve. These guys are far more talented than any actor, so why are they getting paid millions and VFX artists aren't? It's absurd. Maybe one day I could maybe make one of the elements in one of these shots... maybe...
ok I get what ure saying that they should be paid more, but actors and VFX artists have drastically different jobs, plus there's a ton of other people who have jobs nobody really thinks about. really overall everyone has a role to play and the people who are paid more are just simply the people who the public is more interested in. everyone has talent, it's just what the public sees as being more interesting
Outstanding visuals. What it must of been to see the things that they saw. They saw things that others will never see. You can only imagine what it must of felt like to survive this great war. You've gotta appreciate life much more after growing through it on every side.
This video alone is one of the most comprehensive and inclusive videos of CGI I've seen! Showing so many intense scenes layer by layer makes CGI all the more interesting. And I must say, the VFX artists with Stalingrad did an OUTSTANDING job!!! Kudos! From. Joe N.
Mahesh Walatara That's right. He doesn't do any special effects actually. He did not design the robots, he did not come up with the idea (Transformers have been around for 30 years). He doesn't create the 3D models, the animations. He doesn't do the compositing, rendering, color grading. He doesn't do the cinematography or sound design. He definitely doesn't build the sets, makes the costumes, or do the actors' make up. He doesn't even edit the damn movie. So what does he do? It depends, but the bottom line is that he is responsible for every frame in his movie, and with the kind of budget he has, he can do whatever he wants. In a small budget independent film, directors don't have that kind of luxury. The have to compromise constantly. Michael Bay doesn't. If he wanted anything to look different in his films, it would look different. If ILM did a poor job with explosions, all he had to do what ask them to do it again, and give them good directions. ILM is a pretty capable VFX company... This is his movie, these are his explosions. And yes, they both suck. Another thing: Stalingrad cost $20M to make.
JakHC depends on the shot, some things like making the environments / models and texture painting is quite time consuming and manpower intensive, but some of the shots like particle systems effects, clouds, fire, water, etc can be set up fairly quickly but require a great deal of computer power and time to render. All in all lots of people, lots of time, months usually
+JakHC If you go look my channel intro what is rubbish comparing something like this. It took me 3 weeks about 8 hours a day to complete... so months is accurate for something like this.
if you want to watch an really good movie about stalingrad with a shitload of emotions and critisim about war watch the movie Stalingrad from 1993, made in germany
2:47 ... My favoutite scene of all. 2:53 . Just brilliant. With those deep end sound effects. And then the breakdown at 3:01. Amazing! I freakin' love modern VFX!!!
Incredible, I'm literally speechless, how did they make those fire and smoke effects? FumeFX maybe? one day I want to try something this ambitious lol If its possible for one guy or girl to do all that!
+alvaricoke41 Unfortunately a lot of them are over patriotic one sided movies of ridiculousness... watch German world war 2 movies, there very accurate and amazingly done. side note how was Fortress?
@@parsaleilyabadi4219 what are you talking about, no videogame comes close to have this kind of physics simulations. It's 2020 and critics are praising the ropes simulations in the last of us 2.
nice, but pz IVh did not have the Shurtzen on at Stalingrad plus they would have been primarily PZIIIj and in german grey/ winter cammo (not 3 tone splinter) overall amazing!

mhh, maybe the cinematic trailer, yea, a bit :D
This isn't "Look what this computer can do". This is "Look at what I can make this computer do". Amazing, simply amazing. What a wonderful insight.

Jaw dropping work...
Possibilities are endless, how insane are the effects now...! Reality and virtual reality are the same...! Frigging awesome..!!!
The best VFX breakdown I've seen. Great work Main Road.
Everything is in this clip is amazing. That crashing Heinkel 111 sold it for me.

Simply incredible. Lost for words. Visuals and sound are just on a higher level. Incredible.
Blown away by your talent...
As a reasonably experienced 3D modeler, I can salute you. This is the best reel I have seen in my life.
The effects of this movie... i don't have words to explain THAT amazing piece of art!
Beautiful!

Amazing! such a group with cooperative guidance and working together to produce a master piece is rare to be seen! This is simply jaw dropping!
A great piece of film made by some very, very talented people. Excellent
AWESOME!!! Brilliant Work!
I can watch this over and over forever. Great work to everyone involved, you guys truely don't get the credit your due.

The production quality of this movie is impeccable
Wow. Magic!
The best video on youtube.
HOAH........
This VFX company is really something.
Great job.
That was absolutely stunning. Even the format of the breakdown was well done
Incredibly detailed and accurate production values Should be developed into a full length movie detailing the Battle of Stalingrad. BRAVO!!!
2:44 , definitely the coolest part there ( and the bits following it!)
Without this break down video, it can pass as real. Great team work, excellent use of technology.
And that, Michael Bay, is how explosions are done.
bay doesn't do the explosions. ILM does.

The only difference is Michael bays are real the majority of the time
That made me laugh out loud! Because it's ssssssooooooo on the nose!
Amazing work, really. Love the color you gave to the movie, this dark and cloudy theme - awesome.
Absolutely mind blowing. How much time goes into a few seconds of finished product?

That is some talent you people have got there!!! Wow!!!
Okay this should be a movie just this one
The woman shielding her dog amongst all this mayhem is a very touching image. Some of these frames are a work of art in their own right.
literally spent the past hour looking for this
MrTfly12345 Me too!
Really made me appreciate all the work that goes into creating this type of animation! 👏👏👏👏👏
Amazing!
A new inspirational work for me. This is mind blowing.
CGI rulez :)
After seeing this breakdown I finally found the actual movie. If you get the chance, watch the film, simply a great movie.
How wonderful works!!! shocked!!!
this made me proud of my decision to study animation :)
this is one of the best showreels ive ever watched !
That HE-111 crew were thinking "fuckng russian bias!!!!!" Yes I went there
Utterly amazing and mind blowing!
Where can I watch this movie ? It looks very interesting. I heard once that the russians are doing very emotional war movies.
Rt said its supposed to be released in Feb here in the states
Opens Feb 28, 2014 in the US on IMAX 3D.
Its Stalingrad by Bondarchuk. Film is fabulously, especially in details)
if you want to watch an really good movie about stalingrad with a shitload of emotions and critisim about war watch the movie Stalingrad from 1993, made in germany
WOW amazing !!! Fantastic graphics and sound. I was glued to this i don't think i blincked once.
It's epic but still sad to watch. it really is tuching. and the animation is just beyond impressive! It's uncalculateble!

Incredible, I'm literally speechless, how did they make those fire and smoke effects? FumeFX maybe? one day I want to try something this ambitious lol If its possible for one guy or girl to do all that!
+CG Visuals # VFX It is possible: e.g. see Nicolas Brunet's "Versus - a way to shadow"
Checked it out, was really impressed! thanks
+CG Visuals # VFX you're welcome
Inspirational work for someone like myself who hopes to get into the film/gaming industry as a 3D artist. The amount of detail is insane.
literally stalingrad is my favorite movie
Loveing to be russian :)

Death to Nazis. My grandad perished in Stalingrad. He was fighting for his country, family, kids, home.
Jeez, some really complex composites, epic fire and smoke simulations.
holy shit this is awesome
Best showreel I've seen so far
The movie had so many inaccuracies and flaws that took away from a truly real tale from WWII.
ngaf
Still more believable than an average american war movie
+alvaricoke41 true, but have you seen many of the Russian based movies of WW2
GhostJager81 Im afraid no, only this and Fortress of War.

true that!
