I just needed to figure out how to set the adjustment after disassembling it, and this was perfect for that thanks! Plus learned about the need for Loctite!
Super Video Heiko!!! I love my Flexi 😍 Schöne Grüße Jörg
Hello, Heiko, this razor is very easily available over here in India, but because of this problem as pointed out by Kevy I didn't purchased this razor, this is available for only 40 to 50 dollars over Amazon India even Merkur 34C and EJ DE89 are costlier than this razor due to import charges, you are really a genius what the PEARL people couldn't do, you solved that 👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Hi Heiko, nice video! I think it would be an easy solution for the manufacture but not for the final user. It's a pity that they are risking a product and brand reputation due to a miss aligned spring.
I agree, they should not sell one more Flexi until they get this under control. I am here for the other guys who already have one and can't get it fixed. I will fix it for them.
Hey Heiko! Thanks for the video. I already knew it was the spring. Great repair to yours!! I just replaced my spring and everthing is good. Just an idea, but you could use plumber's tape for the handle so it's not permanent for easier disassembly in the future. I used the tape for my Yaqi Final Cut because the handle wasn't staying in place when I would adjust the head. I twisted the handle all the way to the edge of the tape and can now adjust the head easily! Have a great weekend! JimG
That would works too. The Loctite I used is not permanent. I intentionally use low strength Loctite 222. In the beginning when I take it apart it was also held together with that same Loctite. I was able to undo it with my bare hands. Great idea though.
@@Heiko-shaves It might not need it, but some people have been polishing the rockwell 6s. I am sure it is not easy getting metal to shine, but can be done.
Great instructional video. TH-cam is the instructional manual for everything. When I watched your first video about the Pearl, I thought it might be the spring too. I really like the way you modified the spring. Now I must get a lathe in my garage, but how do I hide it from my wife ?
Heiko what an amazing informational video. What I get from this is that Pearl is a slip shod company making inferior products for a cheap price. Their $70.00 product can be made to a superior product by having a mechanical engineering degree and $5000.00 worth of machinery. The moral of this story, to me, I but a Rex Ambassador and save a lot of money and aggravation. You obviously know what you are doing. Everything is easy when you know how and have the right tools. The Pearl Flexi just isn’t worth the effort.
@@Heiko-shaves that would be the perfect solution. Those who got a GOOD Pearl are very satisfied with it. I got a bad one and Pearl customer service was non existent. I returned it to Amazon. I will not buy any Pearl product. Btw I was born in Regensburg
Love a good how to video! Very fun to watch. Once I am back on the mainland, I will want to hit you up to get that done! I was wondering, since I have read that a lot of people switch out the springs in the Yaqi Final cut, if a spring with more tension (I'm not sure what the correct terminology for springs are) would be good to put in the Pearl to add more pressure to the plate? Just a thought. Cheers and have lovely weekend.
WOW thank you for this video. One thing: I believe I've seen ( thought it was with KevyShaves ) that there was something like 1-2=ok, 3-4=shit, and 5-6= ok. Is that something else then the spring or .. ? Nevertheless. I always love watching this kind of video's. Due to the fact I haven't been educated in this kind of material, I love to see how people can figure something out like this. Again thank you for this video, I'm sure it will help a lot of people. ( but I am still angry why this wasn't done properly in India )
Excellent. You fixed it. We all thank. But for me...well...if supposedly it's the buyers to fix the problem of a product then this razor is too expensive. It should be cheaper. In fact it shouldn't be on pearls catalog ever.
I agree. They should not sell it unless it is perfectly usable out of the box. But they sold a bunch and now there are a bunch of guys with messed up Flexis and it just ends in the drawer.
I do not understand what you're doing with the glue; and it would seem to become a future disadvantage when one day you wish to clean the razor (all parts ) thoroughly.
The loctite is low strength. It can be disassembled without problems. It just makes sure that the handle which is also the stop for the adjuster doesn't move around.

Excellent video Heiko, I hope Pearl is watching this too, I wonder if you swapped out the spring from the Rex if that would work too?
The Rex spring probably fits. Since the Rex isn't mine I did want to mess with it. I could have probably bought a spring from Rex.
Nice! This is genius! How did you figure this out?
Just took the thing apart and looked at everything. The spring was the part that stood out.

Please do! I haven't researched the spring topic too much but it is possible.

Good job.
Could someone use a standard drill then to do this. As the speed doesn't need to be super critical? Place the spring in a Chuck.
if you have a large enough chuck I guess you could.
