Heiko shaves
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 พ.ค. 2023
Hey Guys, it's me "Heiko" of Heiko's Garage, I am starting my new channel.
"Heiko shaves".
I just switch from the old cartridge razor, that never gave me a really close shave to shaving with an traditional Double Edge Safety Razor. I am loving it. It is a great traditional way of shaving.
It is a nice way of relaxing, getting your mind off of things and just focusing on the task at hand. Very therapeutic.
Please follow along as we explore this great way of shaving together.

Does the 6S feel the same on the skin as the T2SS? Is the T2SS made in china? Rockwell customer service hasn't answered this question after 3 email inquiries. I know the 6S is made in America. Was however told by Rockwell, the T2SS doesn't require tearing down, or any oil for routine maintenance. That seems odd about no oil.
That's a pretty razor. The Futur is a full-zamak razor ("Griffstück und Rasierkopf aus Zinkdruckguss") - same as the 41c/42c btw - not a brass handle, unlike those of the 15c/22c/23c/25c/33c/34c/37c. Interestingly the Merkur open comb base plate is brass, top plate is always zamak. The regular Merkur head made of brass would be so cool - that's all the innovation I'd want from them. Next time put some Bepanthen on your Aui, or simply some classic Nivea Creme, it also contains Panthenol. Did you know Beiersdorf initially marketed classic Nivea as a pre-shave towards men? My Opa never used moisturizer or anything scented, not even AS lotions, because he considered it "Weiberkram", as he referred to it - his fragrance was "Korn" and cigarettes.😂 I'm pretty sure occasionally he secretly used my Oma's Nivea though.
Vielen Dank fuer die Info. Weiberkram ;-)
Heiko, I have very sensitive skin and I am very interested in this SR. Would you recommend it for my sensitive skin case, using it in the lowest settings? I'm from Brazil, sorry for my english 🤣🤣
This razor will be too aggressive for you. If you want a mild adjustable razor look at the parker Variant open comb.
Nicely done Heiko💈💈💈
Thanks
Heiko, if you don’t mind me asking, what's your favorite off camera DE razor blade, which is both sharp and comfortable, consistently for you?
Wilkinson Sword blades from Germany.
Brush having a longer handle also easier and more comfortable to hold!
Agreed
Great shave Heiko. Glad you received the package I sent you. I will put that brush on my wish list. Just a reminder that the difference between the two presheaves is that the black one has charcoal in it to help exfoliate the skin. Have a wonderful week. 👍
You too. The pre-shave is great. Good to know about the charcoal.
Greetings Heiko, I use the Pheonix preshaves straight up (worked in, without washing it off and reapplying) with shave cream/soap on top. Face or bowl thather works well with the preshave sticks or cubes, as does the one from Matt at Razor Emporium. The timeless bowl is also a winner, as is the case with all timeless products I've used. Rex certainly have razors well made to last generations. The normal or slant are efficient and feel great. I use thumb and index finger to locate and hold the blade on the topcap during assembly. Works for me in many razor models. I still use Alum and toner (Thayers lemongrass mainly), plus balm in the routine. There are some outstanding combos out there (incl brushes and soaps) that will set set you up for the day. Great vid, good to see. Cheers, John
Thank you, cheers
Hi. In your opinion is better Merkur Progress or Parker Variant Open Comb?
I like the Parker Variant open comb a bit more. Cheers

Hi there, love the channel, very informative. The choices out there is stratospheric isn’t it. I’ve been using the same Wilkinson Sword twist (butterfly) razor for years upon years and my blade of choice is the Astra. May I suggest to your followers that they buy the sleeve of mix blades and see what works for them. My only critique, very small one. When you read off the ingredients within the soap, after shave or whatever, it gets long. And to be honest it doesn’t hold any value. And what do we the follower get out of it, unless your a chemist not much at all. Your channel as is, is fantastic. How fantastic, I rewatch episodes, that’s how fantastic it is. Thanks. Mike
Appreciate the feedback. Cheers

I might try that combo. Thanks
@@Heiko-shaves hugggggggs from Vegas wheelchair larry
Nice music. Question: I'm new to wet shaving. If a get any stinging from the alum block, is that an indicator my technique is way off, or I need to try new razor blades right away?
After a wet shave there is always going to be some slight irritation even if your technique is spot on. With even the slightest irritation you will feel some burning with alum.
Great review
I have the Fine 20mm brush, which I love and use daily. I prefer smaller knots. It looks nice too.
Very good re the kid’s computer, imho.

Hey Heiko, I just got a Gillette Good Will from 1931 almost new in original packaging at an antique store in Tucson, AZ. Can’t wait to try it
Nice. I might have to find me one of those.
Thanks for a great review
My pleasure!
I remember seeing a review of the Pal a couple years ago, I think it was Subie, and he explained that the Pal adjustment mechanism was different than Schick in that the Pal mechanism worked like a swing from large gap - low exposure to the other extreme of small gap - large exposure Here you go: th-cam.com/video/DEZU1DgXSRs/w-d-xo.html explanation begins at 1:35
Heiko - Since the injector razor blades are harder/stiffer than a SE or DE blade, you should be able to get double the shaves out of the injector blade than with a DE and SE blades. Yes, the injector blades are more expensive per blade, but being you can get much more shaves from each blade, it off-sets the cost of each blade. 🪒
@sjpiasko I get double the shaves from an injector vs a DE
Just picked up a NOS Pal yesterday with case and original instructions. Loaded with a new Personna 20 count injector. Major difficulties in getting the blade inserted and aligned. First shave was not pleasant at all. Ordered some Schick yellows per the previous comment and will try a different shave angle as suggested. Too early to give up yet😂
Good luck. I have the same issues loading blades with my PAL.
The first blade inserted can go in wonky damaging the blade, resulting in a poo shave. Try applying some oil to the head before replacing the blade. Should help get the blade in smoothly
@@John-lc2lz👍👍Thanks so much for the tip. I’ll definitely try that before loading the Schick yellows. May also soak the head in some CLR in case there’s some corrosion in there.
@StephenMcCarthy-tp1vy No worries 👍 It could also be an incompatibility issue with the loader. I just watched one of razor emporiums injector videos, and Matt had the same issue with the pal injectomatic. I know the schick yellow loads well. Hope they work for ya.
I have my schick injector razor when I was in high school, now I am retired and I still have my razor it's very great shave, I got Parker injector razor it's very good to, nice combo shave you had today 🪒 💈
The gap doesn't change on the pal. The gaurd/safety bar moves in and out, changing the blade reveal. I just bought a second pal adjustable as I'm liking them better against the grain than the schick... and I'm a schick fan. Pal adjustable problems 1. QC issues from the factory 2. Wrong shave angle ( should be riding the bar, not the cap like a schick ) 3. Poor blades ( use yellow schick )
When you shave Stubble every one draw blod 🩸
NeXT time buddy try to shave when you have beard 👍
Could you please tell me what the Merkur (razor blades) are like. Are they Astra green smooth, or RK or Durby tugging like? I have a tough beard Thanks
It has been a while since I used a Merkur blade but I think they are pretty sharp. I don't remember any tugging.
I liked the Sentry on my face but it was a bit aggressive on my head. I bought the Konsul and it's nice dialing it back to 2 or 3 on my head. Great review. - Kevin
Thanks for sharing!
I wonder if Supply used a thicker key due to going with plastic and needing extra stiffness/strength of the key to work and align consistently ?
That is probably the reason. They should have gone with the common design and they could have sold more blades to Schick users.
Is this a copy of the RR Gamechanger or the Mamba?
Good question
Look more like the mamba.
@@Heiko-shaves Yes! looks like a Mamba head form with a Gamechanger safety bar
Hello Heiko, comparing Yaqi zephyr with yintal stainless steel razor that you reviewed it before, which one is better for very sensitive skin? Thanks
I like the yintal a bit more. It is very mild and stainless.
@@Heiko-shaves cheers
I heard someone say about putting menthol crystals into the proraso green and wow it's a magical sensation like a mouthwash for your skin lol, might dry it but I use heavy moisturiser
What brand is the brush??
It is a KIKC brand brush from Amazon.
@@Heiko-shavesthanks for sharing 😊
Amazing Shave Heiko !!!!!
Thanks
Great shave! I appreciate you leaving in the struggle to find the word "sandalwood." The struggle is real. Happens to me all the time!
Thanks 👍
Great shave, I have a type m myself, lovely razor 👊👊
Thanks 👍
another good reason to shave ion the shower. the shower head cleans the head better
That is a good idea.
FINALLY somebody is discussing the possibility of clogs happening with an injector razor!
Great review Heiko. Did you ever get some more info on the single edge blades? Have a great weekend. 🎃👍
Not yet but I am still working on it.
What i love about Injector and AC blades is how thick and rigid they are. They have 0 flex and chatter unlike a lot of DE razors that aren't sufficiently held down by the top caps of the razor.
That is a good point. I had not thought of that.
The first ones weren't great. They worked it out. They definitely got better in time. Or at least mine supposedly from the late 30's was rough and it would cut you so easily. I have another from the late 60's. It cuts reasonably well. I have the Supply Pro also. It's great. Get you one. You probably have one though.
I don't have the Pro yet, 😉
@Heiko-shaves the adjustable pro is a very good cutting razor. Lower mid to upper mid efficiency.
The Supply blades are very good.
Nice vid. Have used a Schick, on and off, since the early 70, and it worked well enough. For the old Schick Injector to still have a following, speaks for itself. Supply also works well enough. Agree with the injector comment, would be great to use the Supply Injectorwith other injector razors. Despite numerous attempts with varying blade types and setting, the Parker does not work for me. It has thus been retired to the display box. Nice mix of products. Enjoy the weekend, cheers, John
Thanks for sharing. The parker did not get me all excited about injectors either.
Big Schick injector fan! There are some OUTSTANDING Japanese injector razors & blades (Feather/Kai & Black Label) .
I use the running tap water for clearing the razor clog...
Thanks, I thought those feather blades don't fit and can only be used for shavettes. But now I will have to get me some of those blades.
Nice shave! Slinging the lather around is half the fun.
It sure is!
Awesome video ! 👌 I almost hate that my cheap injector razors are my favorites out of a very, very expensive razor collection. I just rotated back to my schick adjustable from my Sabre, and I missed it 😂. I love my Sabre v2, but the blade selection is poo. With the injectors, we have a few excellent options, my favorite being the yellow schick (chick) followed by the schick b20. Looking forward to the next video !
The yellow Schick and the B20 are going to be added to my list. Are there any feather options that fit?
@Heiko-shaves there are feather brand injector blades, but they are about the same price as the vintage schick double blade. I find the chicks (Chinese schicks) to be the sharpest. B20s are smoother but not as sharp. Ps I've got a pal adjustable en route. They are a beautiful looking injector. Let's hope it shaves, lol.
Hey guy I agree with you about the idea about why certain razor brands don’t want to sell different blade to be honest they don’t want to give away the control they have with selling their products. And also the shave market is very tough.
