I was going to post this video earlier today. But I decided to go out door knocking locally and ended up on 2 awesome permissions! I can't wait to clean everything up and work on the video. Best hunt of the year so far without a doubt. =D
JD - That old house was great and it would be a great subject for a photography soot as well as a detecting spot. Some nice coins/silver and relics. Take care and H.H.
That plated jewelry piece you found reminded me of a purse closure. This would have been on the flap to go over a thing that went through the hole and turned to lock the purse shut, May bbe or not but that made me think of it as a purse closure.
Realistically can you imagine how many silver coins have been taken out of a place like that since metal detecting started... probably hundreds.. and thousands of wheat cents ...
That first house would’ve been so beautiful if had it been kept up and taken care of. I can imagine it’s beauty even though it’s so run down. Beauty in the ashes or fallen beauty of yesteryears and knowing so much happened around homes years ago ago. Not much happening around homes like used to
Sites like this are usually picked through pretty good. If you search hard you may find some things though, like you've proven. I'd even suggest going back once or twice!! Great ring, good job keep @ it and HH!!
Oh wow that house looks really scary , lots of coin for you and well found on the silvers and the yogi bear ring, the very first time I went detecting was with my late Father when I was about 9 on the school playing fields right next to my house :) I still have the old whites detector , :)
This video was filmed in January right after it started to warm up a bit here. Fully thawed now. lol. And thanks, looking forward to seeing the Apollo half! I'll show it on my next live stream. :)
Fisher F2 with the round 8 inch concentric coil and the 4 inch round coil for trashy areas, around $300 or less. The F2 finds coins very well. If you have more money and want a detector that is more complex but you will probably not out grow it and it can be updated from time to time, then the Minelab 800 Equinox just might be the ticket. It cost about $900 with the standard coil but also has a smaller coil that can be bought and with this coil it is great for trashy areas.
@Armed American We The People - I have a 600 and it's a pretty awesome machine. Takes a little getting used to, but I've done well with it. I actually started with a Bounty Hunter way back in the '80s and then went to a Garrett before settling on the 600.
JD, this may be a stupid question, but what does it mean when no mint mark on coin. Hope you answer, I've been watching your videos for a couple of years.
No mint mark on a coin means it was minted in Philadelphia. Unless it's a rare error coin where the mint mark is missing (I've never found one) In 1922 they only minted pennies in Denver, on some of the coins the D is missing and it's worth hundreds of dollars.
Maybe because Philadelphia is the oldest mint in America, and when they started they didn't use mint marks. Then continued the tradition over the years. That's my best guess.
Yep what you dug up is a vin tag and the way you dug it up may be stolen vin off a stolen car and somebody swithed that you can take the # of it and get a carfax
would be a good place to go detect another time with a big coil, and find all the old silvers that are probably out of depth reach of your detector. nevertheless, you at least get to detect, Winter still has us hostage from detecting for another 2 months here!
Yeah, fields like that are much easier to cover with a big coil. Just not my usual type of hunting, so I wasn't prepared. Even the Deus with the stock coil would have been better. But I didn't take it that day.
Hi Joanne. Since this building is still in operation as a community center and the grounds are rarely maintained I did not ask. Generally, community centers are spaces open for public use. At least around where I live anyway. If it was on private property I would have only detected with permission from the property owner.
I am is my favorite name he goes by .every time I read the story of him in the garden and he says I Am and they fall back to the ground it sends chills down my back. I just imagine what the must have thought but then because of his great plan they still took the Christ to the tree for you for me how could this be 😎I'm a poet and didn't know it

You have to get permission for that first old house in the beginning of the video!
Yeah, I may door knock a few houses nearby and ask if they know who owns it. It's a long drive from my house but I go by frequently when I travel.

Hmmm. Could be! I know what you are talking about, been a long time since I've seen one.
Nice digs JD. Glad to see you pull a piece of silver from that school yard. All the best my friend. HH. JOE.
JD great treasures in the school yard, I love watching the metal detecting, have not brought one yet but will be soon! 👍👍👍👍👍
Nice video JD! That old house looked promising! Congrats on the Rosie! GL & HH!
Wow beautiful location. Schools are typically hard to detect though due to the moving around in the soil and the amount of Ferris targets and trash.
That first house looks like a great hunt or a haunted house at the least! Great hunt dude! Keep the great videos coming.
Realistically can you imagine how many silver coins have been taken out of a place like that since metal detecting started... probably hundreds.. and thousands of wheat cents ...
Love your videos, thank you.

Hey JD. Its SNOMAGEDON here in WA. I did get the Apollo half and ill be sending it ASAP.
This video was filmed in January right after it started to warm up a bit here. Fully thawed now. lol. And thanks, looking forward to seeing the Apollo half! I'll show it on my next live stream. :)
Very cool video.
Looks extremely old and beautiful!!
(the house)
Great finds.
Ps. that yellow steel frame is a bicycle for a lot of peaple.
The tag with all the numbers is a Vin tag off of a vehicle. From up on the dash behind the windshield
Thank you. I have found similar tags and came to the comments to see if anyone IDed it. I'd say that is sure what it looks like!
Fun times, the ring is cool!
What kind of mental detector would you tell a beginners to start with
A Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. Inexpensive, and I have had fantastic results with it!
Depends on your price range. These days there's so many great detectors to choose from. :-)

Keep search in JD, I love it when you find silver. Good luck.
Nice video JD!!
Thanks Sheila!
JD, your welcome thanks for the nice coin!!

Me and my girlfriend want to start metal detecting whats a good metal detector to start out with???
I'm getting an Ace450 by Garret. But I've been told the Garrett AT Max is a very good detector.
Thank you JD.....
I love watching your show I have tracker 4,it ok can’t wait for summer find gold, are you come to Portland Oregon mt hood area I’m going
I think the tag was from the water company or electric as well.
Why don't all coins have mint marks? That's never made sense to me.
Maybe because Philadelphia is the oldest mint in America, and when they started they didn't use mint marks. Then continued the tradition over the years. That's my best guess.
@@JDsVarietyChannel Thanks, that would make sense.
OH JD, OMG I LOVE THAT ABANDONED HOUSE!
Thanks awesome vidoe!
I found the quote interesting enough to look it up...
Yep what you dug up is a vin tag and the way you dug it up may be stolen vin off a stolen car and somebody swithed that you can take the # of it and get a carfax
Maybe you uncovered a crime scene with that vin plate

@@JDsVarietyChannel Have you thought about getting one of those Nel coils for your teknetics ?
I been watching long enough to know when the music plays there’s silver in the hole or at least something good.
Sometimes it's a cliffhanger dud. Haha.
Very nice Vid!! ;-)
Go and find out about the first old house in the video,im sure theres a lot of old stuff in the ground there
I was wondering if you need to ask permission to metal detect at an abandoned school. (I’m so timid, I’d be afraid to plunge in at first anyway!)🤭
Hi Joanne. Since this building is still in operation as a community center and the grounds are rarely maintained I did not ask. Generally, community centers are spaces open for public use. At least around where I live anyway. If it was on private property I would have only detected with permission from the property owner.
I've never found many 5 centers because they read like pulltabs so I don't dig them.
Sup Mister JD and everyone
Congrats on the silver.

This home would be a great permission would you like the address I'm just a beginner I'm not ready for permissions yet lol
I am is my favorite name he goes by .every time I read the story of him in the garden and he says I Am and they fall back to the ground it sends chills down my back.
