Enjoy your vids a lot guys. Even better than the stuff you find are the great old towns you find. Reminds me of my days traveling the back trails of New England and the great colonial finds I dug. Keep the vids coming.
Thanks Marty! Yeah we had a lucky warm spell and even then we had to drive a few hours south to reach thawed ground. We're getting closer to the end of winter at least!
I haven't but if its anything like these other old towns I'm sure its great! I agree, love these old southern towns! If you ever find yourself up near the Rome/Cave Spring area give me a shout and we'll do some hunting.
Always great to try out fresh territory! You had some great finds, Zach, especially the at-the-last-minute Barber quarter! And the soil out there is kind to the coins, too! Thanks for another great video, and I'm glad you were able to get out and do some hunting!
Thanks Cynthia! It was so nice to have this warm spell after so much cold weather. It got cold again but at least we are getting closer to the end of winter.
Thanks man! Yeah trade tokens are my favorite because they really get you in on the local history of a place. Like, I can always find another barber dime but probably never another token quite like that one
Wish we had open property around our old Court Houses like that one. Very nice. Some great finds in your new hunting area!!!! Keep it up man! Rob FlThunder Diggin' Florida w/ Rob!
Well done! Really enjoy your videos, makes me so nostalgic (lived around the Great Lakes for some years & there's just something about the US that is unique) you do have a knack of capturing that special quality of small town life. Lovely old courthouse again. 😎👍🐾😊 Never been to Kansas or the Deep South...
Glad Jim found a Merc at the end. But...a Wheat find is "Not just a Wheat, especially if you haven't found anything much else for the day. I'll take a 100yr old Wheatie all day long!!!!!
Zach, do you have any idea how AMAZING your videos look on my big HD TV? The drone footage looks like the video they play on the TV's at the store to lure you in for a purchase! I could tell that barber quarter was going to be a good one when I saw how thick it was in the hole. Some of the houses on that street were incredible. I was drooling just looking at them. Maybe next time pan up and down the block? Happy hunting! Dave.
Thanks Dave!! I’m honored you were watching me on the big screen! And we went back to the barber quarter town the weekend after this and did pan up and down that street and we got onto a virgin yard! I’ll be releasing that video soon. In a few weeks we are planning a Missouri trip and are looking at hunting some fields for Civil War campsites. We were looking at hitting some old parks too. I want to hit Tower Grove Park in St. Louis so bad. My uncle hunted it for like an hour and a half several years back and they found TONS of old coins but then got asked to leave by the park service or something like that. HH man! Zach
Sorry Zach but Tower grove park is now a historical site and I think no detecting is allowed. But I detected several other parks in STL and found something good in every one of them. Most of the STL parks were laid out in 1812 to 1840. Check the city website it has the history of each park.
Dan actually got there before we did and went inside and talked with the folks at the sheriffs office and they said we could do it. Didn't produce a whole lot but I really love that token that came out of there. HH! Zach
The cost can vary a lot depending on what gear you get. My detector is a Minelab Etrac which is on the high end. If you are just starting out I would recommend something in the medium price range such as a Garrett AT Pro or Minelab Equinox 600
Thanks Scott! It depends, sometimes we will walk inside the courthouse and ask if we aren't sure but other times the grounds around the courthouse are just a park so we go for it.
Those coins that were buried in the ground? Should they have a spray bottle? Lol. Its hilarious the people who carry those cute bottles with them all coins found in the ground have environmental damage....so you are a bit silly.
@ 1:27 "This is the first time I've been here before" You working for Putin ? Pulling out a quarter last second in the dark and just CRUSH Jim, crushed him. Barbers 2019... all of them !

@@Pumpd.Up.Platypus Thank you very much for the information and responding. Really enjoy your videos. I looked up the E-Trac Detector you use, it must be a good one as much Coins as you find but it's a little out of my price range. Again, thank you.
Thanks for helping answer the question Derick! Yeah it's always best to ask but I have done many by just walking on and doing them as long as there are no signs and not had any problems.
By rubbing an obiously clean 1907 Indian you probably reduced the value from $400 to $60. Wish you metal detectors wouls respect the coins you're finding.
Great hunt and finds. The Barber Quarter at the end was amazing. I always enjoy watching your channel. Thanks and take care.

Thanks Brian! In my latest video we went back to that town with the barber quarter and found a virgin yard
Great hunt Zach...glad to see you found a great town that's not frozen.
Thanks Marty! Yeah we had a lucky warm spell and even then we had to drive a few hours south to reach thawed ground. We're getting closer to the end of winter at least!
Awesome bunch of coins guys! Really nice Barber Quarter at the end too. Great hunt!
Thanks Dewayne! By the way have you ever hunted around Newnan, GA? I was born out there, love the old southern history in that region

Super NICE Barber quarter find right at the end!!!!!!
Excellent finds guys! Keep the vids coming helps me with my withdrawals of not being able to dig! Ha!!!
Ha! Will do! I've got a good one coming out next week of a virgin yard that we got onto in this town!

Thanks Rob! Haha I don't know what happened to that wheat. Jim eventually found it after like 10 mins of searching the ground
Glad he found it. I was also pretty happy with the first IHP I ever found, and I think even more excited with #2, just a few weeks ago. lol.
Nice hunt young man , enjoy your videos.

Thanks for the video, I'm still looking for a barber quarter congrats on your find.
Thanks Curtis! Hope you can get yours soon. What part of the country do you detect?
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting I'm in north central Montana. My town was started in the late 1880's when the railroad came through.

@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting thanks for the info I will for sure look into that
How are you able to search around a courthouse? do you have to ask permission? Awesome channel!
Thanks! Yeah we asked permission with the sheriff's office that was on site

Thanks Scott! It depends, sometimes we will walk inside the courthouse and ask if we aren't sure but other times the grounds around the courthouse are just a park so we go for it.
Nice finds. What do you do with your coin finds?
Thanks Dennis! I just collect them
I don't even a barber quarter that nice in my collection.
Hope you can get one soon! Do you just collect or metal detect?

it kills me when i see you rub those coins

I went to watch this video yesterday...What happened??
Took it down because there was an edit I wanted to make. So I delayed reposting until today

Barbers 2019... all of them !
Haha poor Jim, He did good in this next hunt that I will post on Friday though. We got onto a virgin yard
Why I would get that wheat penny Plus I collect wheat pennies
Your right thumb is dangerous to a coin!!!
I'm going for my first silver coin metal detecting, If you encourage me I will have better luck.
Good luck man! Finding your first silver is such a thrill, I remember mine like it was yesterday. What part of the country do you hunt in?
Northern Indiana.
How do you guys get permission to hunt these properties and shouldn’t you use better caution with these properties and use a drop towel
Can I have the Indian head
I understand getting permission to hunt at private homes, but do you have to get permission to hunt public places like the Court Houses? If so, whom do you ask? Thank you.
Even though it is "public", it's always best to get permissions to detect. I usually talk with the maintenance department for approval.
