And it's not much sense to it either. However. Good videos are always special. And they don't need to be "reinventing". And it's hard to say what is exactly "new" in DS community. As I was saying in my "How to make DS montages" vid - I think a lot of people can actually do decent stuff if they are doing it genuinely and put their souls in it.
I always get self conscious when I start recording but I’m glad I powered through it! Really glad you enjoyed it, your content has always been an inspiration for me. I’d be thrilled to have you back in DS3 or Elden Ring
strong agree on this one, i genuinely was lost for a moment thinking fel was a youtuber i never heard of given how good his voice is for this type of commentary, but no, it's just a more memorable video. even if it's memey for the most part, it's still memorable. Elden Ring is finally in sight (not for me though, I'm ostrich-ing away from knowing anything about it yet) and it's so exciting to know that the creative community of souls is gonna get a defibrillator charge into our fading hearts. Hey man awesome to see you! My routine is basically playing like 3-4 days a week at most, and detoxing for the rest of it lol. Honestly I don’t even run into that many trolls or cheaters (tho unscaled phantoms are an issue at mid-SL) but it’s more just making sure I don’t make myself bored or burned out. The game is very familiar now so I just need breaks and to set goals for myself like improving on my stabs. Some brawls or a DF run would be really fun!!
I gotta say I'd been considering taking a fairly substantial break from DS3 for a while but there's something about this video about surviving and banding together as Reds that really stuck with me since watching it early this morning. I still might take a little break to refresh my enthusiasm for this game, but please know that I really appreciated your commentary in this video. Also your movement and flow with the Follower's Saber in that fight was excellent, it's like you had both of your opponents playstyles nailed down and would just pass the hurt off to whoever came up to receive it. I'm curious what you meant by what areas you know you need to improve upon in your playstyle?
I appreciate it Rofo, I have been taking several days between sessions lately to avoid that same burnout. And I have been loving the Followers Sabre lately, I really think it’s one of the best and most fluid weapons in the game. Not video worthy since everyone already knows it’s good, but still :P In terms of my own gameplay, there are tons of places I can improve. In my fish play, I still have next to no consistency with Estus punish backstabs. I also need to learn how to bait people with my movement more - you see a lot of good fish with perfect movement, erratic but controlled. They’re able to run up to someone, pause suddenly, and immediately predict the roll and backstab it. I know how that is done now (you keep the run button held while you pause so you can go into a sprint immediately) but now it’s practice time. I have gotten pretty good at baiting and punishing roll-ins, but I want to learn more aggressive backstab tech, like running diagonally forwards to “cross up” someone who is rolling to the side, and getting to their back that way. Slackjaw Slim is really good at those, and Noname actually just released a vid today where they got a few of those stabs. Also in terms of rustic play, I got lots of perhaps less exciting things to improve on. Getting more speedy with hardswaps, getting more confident in my rolls/spacing/situational awareness so I can play more confidently at meta (I notice watching my own clips that I play way more passive at meta because I’m so scared of the blender, to the point where I feel like I prolong things unnecessarily), etc. And finally I need an attitude reset lol. I’m usually pretty amicable in my invasions but I need to re-train myself to not get salty at myself about losing in a video game. Meeting this Cool Guy reminded me of the purity of being newer to the game, and that even if I’m improved I can’t expect perfect play from myself. Losing and learning is a good mantra I gotta keep in mind at all times

I was talking to Rofo in another comment on different backstabs I want to focus on learning, but once I’m more confident with that stuff I def want to get more confident with basic swaps. Probably gonna get weapon swaps down first, then probably weapon bundle. Not sure how much further I can go but it’ll be a start!

It’s so good, honestly one of the best weapons in the whole game. I’ve used it here and here but rarely as the centerpiece of any build, but it deserves more. It’s not as obnoxiously busted as PKCS but it has a really unique bag of tricks that makes it stand out. And like any weapon with a strong, forward momentum WA, it’s got the right tools to catch rolls and play aggressive. Absolutely lovely weapon
