A+++ video. Love hearing from a lead Mathews engineer on all the "why's" of their design. I own the V3 27 and it's the best bow I've ever shot. Love it!
@@KyzakYT I spent a lot of time messing with stabilizers and found them to be a big help. The typical 4 - 6 in front stabilizer is not worth it. I'm running a 10 up front and 8 inch back with 3 oz up front and 5 oz back and it really made a difference. Curious what you do? Let me know.
Since 1991 I've been tuning the arrows to what the bow likes. I'm glad you touched upon what to do without using top hats. So many people today come in with an unwavering idea to use some very specific arrow setup with very specific components and a very specific weight. When you sight in your hunting rifle, you buy several different boxes of ammo (or handload), and see what shoots best out of the rifle. You don't pick one brand ammo, and modify the hell out of the rifle to get it to shoot that one load. It's the same with bows. FWIW- My V331 tuned great out of the box, with centershot exact, and a little bit "weak" spine vs. what charts and software says I should be using.
Great review. Bought v3 bought 1 month ago. We are becoming great friends! Stout bow! Very impressed! Had/have Mission hype dtx...for 4yrs after open heart surgery...great little bow. Now back in the big leagues! Thx for your content!!!
For me the best thing a shorter axle to axle bow offers is the ability to carry accessories on your chest whether its a vest, back pack straps, bino carriers etc. The angle of the string is away from you with short bows, have a shot with a large compound, recurve or longbow and see how close it is to your chest. The last thing you need to worry about at full draw is the string collecting anything as you release it. That will open your eyes up.
wow, this really helped me understand the top hat system and the value of changing the mods seeing that i have a 27 in draw. Thanks guys, going to put my money down on the 27 today.
Awesome intel. Just got a V3 31 with 75lb draw couple months ago. I love the bow and it is definitely faster than my old Halon. Im shooting 465 grains and it is just a flat shooting bow! Love watching Eastmans tv. I remember 15 years ago on the opening tv show Mike saying no fences here and in the background was a fence! Always got a kick out of that. Haha
Thanks for the awesome review. Great information from the Mathews engineer. Still shooting my old creed xs and love it, but upgrading to the V3 in the near future.
I just shot a V31 at are local archery shop in town yesterday. Coming from a 10 year old Alpine what a night and day difference shooting! Loved it! Literally no vibration in Hand. Looks to hopefully be on my Xmas list this year. Although some are saying to wait out tell next week amd see the new Mathews?
I bought the 31 V3 only because I’m coming off of the 28 Triax. And I shot the 28” Triax better than any bow I have ever owned in the last 25 years. I did shoot the 27 V3 and it shoots great amd holds great. Just wanted something bigger this time. I wish they made a 30 inch that would be perfect in my eyes. That’s probably what they’re doing for 2022
I've noted, some pictures on the net of the v3 27 quiver mount locations are different, ie where the quiver mount bolt goes through. Some are situated centre to the front and back of the bridge riser and other pictures show the mount area way to front of riser. What's the go with this, are Mathews subbing out risers or did they change the quiver mount position as the middle area may of been a bit of a weak spot. Does anybody know or have an idea why? Be nice to know why this is.
I used to archery hunt growing up and it’s been about ten years since I’ve done anything with a bow and i want to fet back into it. Is it okay to start with such a high end bow for a first bow again?
@@EastmansHuntingJournals blowtech hoyt and pse + some matthews every other brand set to 29 inches hits the tip of my nose both of my vxrs and v3 the string goes past my nose
Regardless of what the engineer says…it’s a trend they follow. Just like bows years ago that where longer in a to a length. It’s nothing but what equates to bow sales. Also these short bows have severe string angles which I don’t care for at all. You don’t see alot of pros shooting 28” bows on the line at competitions. There is a reason for that. I’ll keep my forgiving 34” bows.

Just got my v3 27 for Christmas this year. Pretty excited about it :D.

Excellent insights. Thanks for sharing and good lukc this fall!
Fantastic “knock-out trigger punch” in slow mo…. Well done!
I shoot a Mathew’s Traverse. Best bow I’ve ever shot. I will never get rid of it.

Love my V3 27😎
Hi, can you recommend a travel case for the V3 31 with an 8 inch stabilizer?
What stabilizer is that?
The bow you showed was a 27 but you said 29?
What sight is on the v3 hes shooting

If you know you're going to stick with it then ya but it's not necessary
Perfect for a small guy like myself and others
I love my v3 31 vs my VXR 31
what sight are you running?
That is the Montana Black Gold Mountain Lite - Dan
It would be nice if these engineers could figure out how to eliminate how top heavy these bows are.
It would also be nice if these engineers could figure out how to measure the draw lenght correctly, as Mathews bows, almost always, run 1/2" long...
@@nicolaalberti7736 yeah exactly my vxr 28 v3 27/31 all draw 1/2 inch long
Let's talk about how Matthews bows still draw half inch long
Interesting, I haven't noticed a change in draw length in 29" from a Mathews to any other bow manufacture. What bow do you have? -Dan

Mathews is the best period
This menace must be stopped… he shot without the white fletch facing up
"I shot that bow so well" 4:03 ... misses the elk shot in the butt lol
