I think would have been fairer to not have the stand on the Mathews. Would give it more weight at the bottom which would act a bit like a stab. Interested to see if there's a difference with and without the stand.

I don’t understand the over emphasis on felt vibration. Draw cycle, repeatable low torque grip and how the bow holds on target are way more important. None of the bows really vibrate with a quiver and stabilizers. Vibration is just marketing hype.

    • @neilbastendorff5483
      @neilbastendorff5483 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Could not disagree more. Vibration equals inefficiency. Any energy that's creating vibration in the riser of the bow is energy that is not going into the arrow. Vibration is also sound, why would you want to shoot a noisy bow?

    • @KTMsoldier1988

With or without attachments a bow that vibrates more is louder!.

I agree with Ray. Don't really care about a little vibration once the arrow has already been sent down range. A deer is going to jump from the sound of a mathews just the same as a prime plus I believe the sound of an arrow flying has more effect than the bow.

While I haven't gotten the Ultra yet, and after shooting the V3 and Ventum over the last few weeks, the Hoyt just is overall better for me at 30". All great bows and choose what feels good to you. I am glad to see this amount of attention from an archery shop. Finding an individual the proper bow is 90 percent of the battle. A person can learn to shoot any firearm, or bow they shoot regularly. Having the ability to compare different bows gives the archer their own confidence in their own decision. I have shot traditional archery for over 30 years. 3-4 years ago when the Hoyt defiant went obsolete, I bought one. It is noisy, compared to a 70" long bow, and 700 grain arrow. It is much faster with a 585 grain arrow. I am going to buy a Hoyt venom 33. At 65 lbs. Draw weight I thought I was drawing 55 lbs. Long story short. Keep spending time with your customers.

if you look at the groups even not using a sight, The Prime gave you the tightest group. I dont know what the big deal is with vibration. One, it after the shot. and Two, i never had a bow where my hand was buzzing after shooting a round. I think its a non issue.

I’m not saying he is wrong but when I was testing some bows the other day, it drove me crazy how none of those bows balanced for me.... but balance, hold, back wall and string angle are the bigs ones for me... unless the vibration is like hitting a metal pole with a bat while having a loose grip, the vibration isn’t gonna bother me as much.... that’s just my preference though, like josh said, we will all feel different things.

One day bow shops will allow you to take bows home to really get the feel of what one you like better. I find it so hard to go into a archery shop shoot a bow a few times and then decide what one you want to buy for $1,500 bare. I ran into that with my last Matthews VXR I loved it, but I also loved the revolt x just didn't like the grip. Then bought the bow and felt like I made a mistake because I didn't have long enough time to experience both of them in the elements. And if I would have walked out with both I would have been in trouble at home lol

Yep, I would like to see Steven Hand do this review in Australia. I have a 30" draw. I hunted in 2020 with a Prime Centergy. I'm also a saddle hunter. Former owner of a Prime CT-5. When I bought that bow I didn't own a saddle yet. After shooting all last summer from a 🌳 I realized the difference between the 2 bows. The CT-5 was much harder @ the end of the draw compared to the Centergy. Prime last year revamped with the Black series with the adjustable cam. That was Gen 1 stuff. I don't trust Gen 1. The Nexus is as different to the 2020 Black 3 or 5 as the new Hoyt design change is to the old. When I shot the Nexus 4 recently it was very similar in the draw cycle to the Centergy but with all the advantages that goes into a bow which is about 5 years newer in technology. My Centergy is bone quiet & dead in the hand with a Conquest Archery Control Freak stabilizer. I shot the Nexus 4 @ 62 lbs. & buried my own personal arrow into the bare bail target they had up against the wall which is covered with high impact foam so deep that I had to push the target with my knee away just to get my hand in front of my 4 vanes. The shots I took with it I came away with 1 conclusion. The CT-5 when I draw it with an open hand torqued a little to the left. I shoot an open sight window so I'm looking @ the cables & how they line up with the riser while I'm drawing the bow. The Nexus 4 does not do this. It also has a duller pitch to the shot than the CT-5. Prime shaved down the Nexus riser which leaves the impression of a more streamlined feel than the previous models. I put half down on a Nexus 4 & gladly paid them the $50 custom build fee so I end up with a bow that has the look as well as the stealth that I need in my close encounters with deer which r measured with feet rather than yards.

I have a long draw 31.75 I bought the Prime CT9 last year. So for me I asked who mkes a 31+ draw bow. There only 4 or 5 models. Speed is not a huge selling point since I believe there were all within 15 fps of each other. A bow shorter than 35 ATA is too short for my draw. Price did come into play. Hoyt bows were 1800 for target bows which is what I was shopping for. The CT9 was new and was at 1299. Felt great so that's what I went with spent more on my sights and rest. Over all happy with my bow! Good vid and will keep your suggestions in mind while shooting new bows!

I did the same type of search last May. Shot 5 different "flagship" bows and it came down to the '19 Bowtech Realm SS (was new on shelf) and the '20 VXR 31.5. Ended up with the Realm SS on that trip. Was nit-picking to get there as both were neck & neck. Months later, got a VXR as well. I have several now in the "bow room". Good job Tim!

I think the added weight down low from the stand on the matthews is an unfair advantage. That’s gonna make the bottom more heavy and act somewhat as a stabilizer and make the bow more stable, just saying. I too have shot the v3 and it has a much more aggressive draw cycle than the prime or bow tech

Surprised to so many comments about how he had to choose Mathews, as if it was an inferior bow, because of Dan, he had no choice.
I went through the same test and was actually already somewhat biased toward the BowTech. I have shot BowTech for five years and love their bows.
At first I told the pro shop that I did not even want to shoot a Matthews to test it out.
I tested the VXR 31.5 and fell in love with it.
I ended up buying the traverse because I had access to one that I could shoot a lot to test it out and it was very similar to the VXR, but I saved several hundred dollars.
I am very happy with my Matthews it is the best feeling bow I have ever shot.
