Very well explained young man ! It is such a simple thing, but even veteran shooter's fall into bad habit's. I have been shooting since 1954--that's 7 years before Allen made the 1st Compound Bow. I'm 80 now and instead of a Quiver on my back, I have an oxygen tank--but thank God, I am still shooting !! Keep up your good work, I am sure you have helped may Archer's improve there score's and Trophy's !!
Thank you very much for the comment and support! Thank you also for your sacrifice and service while wearing the uniform! God bless you and your family!
Been shooting for a couple years and have been struggling with consistency. I just went out and shot about 20 arrows and notice a considerable improvement. This really helped me out! Thanks a lot!
Awesome video, I've had a long suffering problem of pin drop, as a result of wating your video my dl has increased a full inch & my shoulders have straightened nicely. Now my pin is holding so much better and my shot process is so much more comfortable and my scores have started to rocket. Thank you
Well once again an extremely helpful video. George Ryals did a video on the back shoulder, but it did not come close to the detailed explanations given here. This is the best explanation along with visualization of how to get the correct front and rear shoulder placement I have seen anywhere. It also does a good job of helping you understand what you may be doing wrong. Great video. Thanks for taking the time to post. I sure wish I lived within driving distance of your shop.
I had shoulder surgery about 5 months ago and I'm still sore. I had to have my bow dropped down to 40 lbs to be able to shoot it. I use those resistance bans and that has helped a lot.
I found it remarkable by watching the arrow against the sign to the right of the MORRELL sign. When the man purposely screws the shot up with the raised right shoulder the arrow is NOT parallel to the edge of the poster to the MORRELL sign. I dont know if the archer knew that was going on whether purposefully used the sign to prove his point BUT THIS GUY IS RIGHT!! And that raised right shoulder has been driving me nuts with shots of more than 15 yards or so. Rewind the video a couple times and don't watch the speaker but watch the arrow against the top edge of the poster to the right of the morrell sign. It's freaky he's holding the drawn arrow perfectly parallel to the top edge of the sign and his release maintains that parallel position and in its flight. Congratulations to the archer- HE just solved a lot of my archery problems can't wait to practice his technique in the back yard. All this time I thought my Switchback and a modestly priced sight was my problem.
This kid is spot on. He knows his archery. It really is about form and technique. He's right, when archers are not consistent with their shots usually is because their draw length is too long or short. In some archery shops they just want to sell you a bow. They don't take the time to check if the bow fits the customer. Specially if you are a beginner and are purchasing a used bow. I have seen this happen. If customer is buying a late model bow and they don't have the correct modules for your draw length they sell you the bow anyway knowing that you will have trouble in being consistent with your shots. This happen to a fellow member of the sportsman's club that I'm a member of. He had a hell of a time in trying to exchange the bow to one with the correct dl. He got one with the correct dl and problem solved.
This is exactly the video I needed to watch. I've done this for so long, that I actually adjusted my pins on my old bow to hit high due to my constant low trigger release. *cringe*. New bow, new me. This is what I need. THANK YOU
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for sharing this. I've had multiple failed shoulder surgeries as we as other surgeries in the last few years and am trying to hyper focus on things that help in maintaining my shoulder health while also improving my shooting. This video is worth ist weight in gold. Take care my friend!
Hey bro thanks for making this video. My consistency has been off the last year and after watching this video and watching my own videos I saw both issues. I appreciate everyone in the archery community that’s willing to share knowledge and promote the success of others🙏
WOW !!!! you are a genius my brother . i never ever thought about taking my iphone and making a video of myself to see my form . everyone always tells me i have excellent or perfect form ,but being a perfectionist i want to know for sure . wow @!!!!!!! again , i am very impressed , great idea bro !
Best explanation I have seen so very well described in an easy to understand manner. I shall look at your other videos. Thanks for helping me with my form.
I know this video is 3y old, but I just started noting this in my shooting and found this video today. This will be very helpful as I evaluate my form from now on.
Great information! I've had this problem of not being able to raise my pin. Now I know what to look for. There are just two things about this video. Use antiperspirant on BOTH pits and you shoot wrong-handed. LOL! Thanks for such a helpful video!
Have already increased DL by 1.5" and readjusted to a full 2" to try today. The 1.5" increase is so much more comfortable. Thanks. P.S. "I did" have a problem with the "PIN" being in the way. I kept the slide sight, but replaced it with a "Hind 2 sight" (which I have put in the X position instead of the cross) which has a space for the center of the target. ...Groupings immediately improved. Thanks again.
Thanks a lot ... it helped, I just needed to increase my draw and now I need to play with it a bit more. Just awesome nowadays, you can help from the US a guy in Germany
Well thanks for answering the question didn't ask. I've had an issue with my pin dropping and then my left lat hurting as a left handed shooter. Now I know what it is. I'm pulling that lat to bring up my pin.
Wow! A perfect demonstration of the effects of biomechanics! Great explanation and teaching. Now to get out the video camera and do the big selfie (ugh!).
Never had this problem until a few weeks ago, thanks for the info dude, gonna try a longer dloop or go up a increment and record myself, I also usually have a high elbow. Cheers mate
My bow probably became to heavy for me in the moment because I broke my wrist and I have not trained since 1 and a half months. Before it was perfect and I left it like that but now it is to heavy.and I am going to work on my posture.i love your videos.
Woah, I’m never going to hit myself in the forearm again. Thanks! Every time I shoot low, I hit myself. Instantly felt what was wrong when I tried this.
Wow, just found your channel & you already have me wishing you were in my town for some personal coaching! Maybe then I wouldn't be setting here recovering from shoulder surgery from hunting either!
This is amazing info. I always wondered why I get along great with my old bow and i never seem to get the accuracy with new bows sometimes. Most noticeable thing is pin drop. Maybe i lost my form from not shooting as much or maybe the DL is to short as it definitely differs from company to company. Thanks for this information!
Been Bow hunting for 30 years. Best thing I ever did for me was to get rid of that peep sight 15 years ago I do not shoot over 30 yards and have one pin set at 20 yards. Always use same anchor point and a kisser button touching my nose. Shoot better then I did when using a peep sight.
Thanks for this video and explaining and verifying what my problem has been regarding keeping the pin from dropping out of the middle and not being able to bring the pin to center again. Just like I suspected all along it has been my posture. Now that I am getting back into archery I am having the same problem but magnified even more because of a rotator tear and slight frozen shoulder from an injury I sustained slipping on ice. The tear and slight frozen shoulder from the release shoulder does not allow me to raise my elbow above my shoulder so at full draw but my elbow is almost level with my shoulder at full draw. I still feel that I have to force my release shoulder back and the fact that I already have slight rounded shoulders to begin with I think my best option is to give up archery all together unless their is a solution which at this point I don't know what it is. Thanks
I just keep my scapula retracted and shoulders pinched together. I think part of the problem is 98% of people have terrible posture as it is; so when a push and pull is based on balance and level shoulders and hands. I think to correct this issue posture has to be corrected first. Another problem is pelvic tilt, most people compromise their balance by arcing their back subconsciously. If you start the motion with compromised stability from your lower body, your upper body is now at a deficit and attempts to overcompensate.
How about shooting high? Just started using back tension with a trigger release and at least one out of every five shots is two inches high at 20 yards
If you have changed your release one of two things is happening. 1. You changed your anchor position on your face whether you realize it or not. 2. The design of your new release is different from your previous release, changing your point of release. Another problem if you came from a wrist release, is the difference in length from d loop to the calipers of the release. Wrist releases are typically much longer. You may find increasing your d-loop length to help as well.
Hi, a question about aiming. Where should I pay attention on when I put my arrow the rest and tighten my bow ? Always focus on your scope (dot) or on the yellow of the target ? Thanks
Thanks for this video, always great to see your archery tips! One thing I noticed, how come you don't have intros to your videos anymore? Not a big deal but it was always cool to hear the intro song.

Congratulations on your shooting. I’m 73 and just starting archery. Can you imagine what I’m going through to get competent. 😎😂
@@johnmurgo7725 I'm soon to be 62 and just started archery. Bought a Mission Switch last weekend. Super fun sport!
As a LEO I want to thank you for wearing that hat and for your support! ...I also love your videos and have learned a ton from you! Thank you!
Thank you very much for the comment and support! Thank you also for your sacrifice and service while wearing the uniform! God bless you and your family!
Keeping my shoulders low and back and not shrugging my traps fixed every problem I had. Thanks so much dude!
I was struggling with that this morning. Was not a big issue at 20 yards, once I hit 40 yards it was evident. Thank you
Been shooting for a couple years and have been struggling with consistency. I just went out and shot about 20 arrows and notice a considerable improvement. This really helped me out! Thanks a lot!
after 50 years shooting a bow, I learned more about draw length, setup and form from watching 2 of your videos than in all the years prior

I was that subscriber with the bad posture. Thanks again for the breakdown. I’ll send you a before and after. Thanks again for all of your help!
Just had shoulder surgery and watching this I realized the PT is having me do exercises to strengthen those muscle. Great to see them in action.
I had shoulder surgery about 5 months ago and I'm still sore. I had to have my bow dropped down to 40 lbs to be able to shoot it. I use those resistance bans and that has helped a lot.
Just added 1/2" to my draw, what a difference. That shoulder drop is natural now. I used to have to force myself to drop it before. Thanks so much!
Same here

Nice job explaining shoulder placement, keep putting out solid stuff.
Looking forward to hitting the range in the morning to make sure I'm not making these mistakes.

Best explanation I have seen so very well described in an easy to understand manner. I shall look at your other videos. Thanks for helping me with my form.
I've found where the feet are angled will also increase/decrease the chance of the front shoulder rising. Having an open stance helps keep it down imo
Really appreciate the demonstration! As a new archer, this helps so much!
That was one of the best explain videos I ever watch thank you definitely a new follower here
