Unfortunately, dash cam isn't gonna do shit for you in Chicago. They steal the whole car. Footage of them doesn't matter. These are gang members that are running the street of Chicago so don't get it twisted that any dash cam is going to do shit for you in this type of a situation.

Same brother, seen Brian pull up with a little pack with toosick at a red light on Roosevelt in my hometown last summer and toosick 12ed his red crf450 instantly and after that bikes is all I could think about 😂🦾 Learned so much that year and I can say I’ve found my life passion. What happened to me in Amarillo, Texas. I had gotten my Yamaha MT-03 April 01 this year. I rode it from Kileen, Texas to my hometown. I live roughly an hour from Amarillo. I took my brand new bike to Amarillo to show it to my mother cause she wanted to see it. This is April 03. I am minding my business, just got Amarillo Boulevard. As soon as I turned onto the Boulevard, this guy in a black Chevy Suburban slows down in front of me. I went to go left around him and he got in my way. So, I went to go right around him and he got in my way again. I saw his buddy trying to get ready to get out and point a gun at me, so I went like I was going to go left, but immediately turned right around him. They tried to chase me at the stoplight at Grand Street, but I filtered to the front of the line. I was sitting at the stoplight thinking, "Surely they wouldn't do anything with all of these people here." WRONG! This muthafucka got out of the passenger side of the SUV and started running at me. So, I ran the stoplight. I get to the next stoplight. And I was looking behind me to see if they were still after me. Yes they were. So, I ran that light, and the next two lights. Once I got far enough away from them, I went onto the highway, looped around, and went back to my mom's street. I had my pistol on me, but I didn't want to risk dying for a bike, but I didn't want to lose my bike either. So, I ran like a bitch. I'm sorry. Some people need to learn how to work for what they get and stop trying to take things from people by force. I worked hard to get my bike. They can do the same. It's alright. If it ever happens again, I will have them on camera. All my motovlogging stuff will be here on Tuesday. Got a GoPro Hero 8, Chinmount from Chinmounts Canada, waterproof housing, Tascam DR-05X, Purple Panda, Ghost Drift XL for a "dashcam", Cardo Freecom 4+ with JBL Audio Speakers, and a Z1R Solaris Helmet. I'm all set for motovlogging and the next thief will be on camera. I hope it never happens again. I bought this bike to relieve stress, help with PTSD, commute, and motovlog. Not to have my stress go through the roof.
You did the right thing. If you have the chance to run away, you should, regardless of wether you're carrying or not. You risk your life by fighting back, not to mention the legal trouble of getting into a firefight like that.
Smart, it's not worth the lawsuit had you shot someone. Your best option was running glad you realized that. Honestly pulling a gun out on a bike is incredibly difficult
IMO Running was the proper first response, likely would've been shot trying to draw immediately from a stop. But if you were trapped then the firearm would've been the functional response.
nah dont be sorry, the last thing you want to do is get in a gunfight in the middle of a street. You had a vehicle that you could easily use to get away and you did that. Job well done imo

heal up well bro. i am healing up from multiple bad injuries from a tbone @ 35mph from a light runner myself. almost 8 months now and just about done with PT. Things will get better, just be thankful you had some gear on and make sure to lawyer up. Did your bike get totaled?

Minnesota saw an increase 537% in carjackings from 2019-2020 then it went up another 40% from 2020-2021.That plus the high's and lows Cliques are at war in MPLS with no care for the public. Car is a manual but I always have the safety off and one in the chamber when in the city. Stay vigilant and stay safe!

I live in a relatively safe country in Europe and even I keep all my doors locked when driving out of fear that someone might do a 1/million GTA style carjacking on me, cant even imagine the awareness you must have in parts of Chicago

Had a couple guys come up to me at a light on my Screaming Eagle by west town, saying “nice bike man, hey Brian would love to see this. Can u pull into the alley so my buddy can check it out??” This was around 2005. I ripped thru the light wo saying anything. CARRY EVERYDAY! ESPECIALLY now w the SAFE ACT..

I almost got car jacked but they blocked me in a intersection. since I'm in Texas I pulled out my shotgun since I was coming back from the shooting range I got them running. I recommend anyone who lives in a sketchy area to have some kind of gun or conceal carry

I used to work right under the Blue line on W. Lake Street back in the late 90's. I saw cars getting stripped and all kinds of other crazy stuff in that neighborhood. It was downright SCARY to be there at night. Seems like the craziness is back with a vengeance!

Part of the issue is Cook County has a long history of handling violent offenders with a revolving door policy, and that starts with the juvenile courts. They put the criminally minded right back out on the streets that shouldn't be out there. Been going on for decades, so unlikely to be fixed anytime soon.
Also the legal system in Chicago is soft enough that it resulted in commuter criminals. When the city figured part of the crime issue had to do with economics surrounding high density low-income projects that weren't properly monitored and provided with social programs, etc., they tore and cleared the places out and relocated everyone to the surrounding counties. But the joke was still on them for that too, as those relocated drive back to the city when breaking the law because the policing and courts are much less harsh. The new homes in the surrounding communities are just where they lay low and take things easy.

I live about an hour west of the city. We had 2 scat packs and a hellcat stolen in one night from my work. Took 3 guys and a lookout about 2 minutes to get them. Crazy world man, stay safe.

Your Pontiac GTO was built down the road from me in Adelaide and the old GM Factory which sadly no longer exists. There were some amazing cars coming out of that factory. Through my years of car ownership nearly every single car was built there including Holden Toranas, Commodores and 1 Monaro (which was rebadged as the Pontiac GTO).

Here in Australia we have the Holden Commodore which is the same as your car. I saw a video yesterday of one being stolen from a carpark and they didn't even have a key for it. They lifted the hood and managed to get it started and drove away.
A guy at the tire shop couldn't even put my ws6 into reverse. I'm glad the criminals are just as dumb, but at least the mechanic doesn't kill you.

had a similar experience in a bmw 550i, suv tailing me. made the usual bunch of turns, they were on me. popped it into sport and did the zigzags til they gave up. not gonna admit to breaking any laws to get away but, i still have the car.

Ive always wanted to ride an FZ07 or FZ09. I grew up racing dirtbikes but for my road bikes i got an R6 an R1. But just like Brian said its a good mix of both. They look like so much fun!

I've worked in bars and restaurants my whole life so I'm driving regularly at 2 or 3 in the morning. I've been followed probably ten or so times. I can usually lose them by taking streets faster than they knew how to and make them back off or go off the road. One was so bad I called 911 after being chased for about ten minutes and they had me drive to a police station and lay on my horn. The guys blew by me and got into a high speed chase. They got arrested for attempted armed robbery, evading, and unlicensed firearms. Made me get my concealed carry. The cops at that station actually recommended me to get it. It's a crazy world out there.

Being vigilant is your best defense. Was on the side of a road trying to straighten something in my trunk and turned around to see 3 dudes with assault rifles. I carry but in that case it wouldn't have been enough.
