I ran into almost the exact same situation one time I stopped at a gas station 3am to fill up my bike and across the street was a female screaming for help and I felt and did the same thing, except police responded before I was even done filling up haha. You did all you could man.

I'm sure most people have an opinion on what one should have done yet have never been in that face to face situation. One of the easiest things we can do is tell people what we would have done in a situation but usually from behind a keyboard and in the comfort of our own homes. You did something dude!! The vague confrontations can stop a lot of shit. As in, confronting a pursuant with something that isn't hostile, like "is this yours?". It often pauses their rage and gives you a lane to step into the situation without immediately being seen as somebody that they need to fight.

Man I applaud you so much for stopping to see if she was okay. Sad part is the cops didn’t come to help and I see that happen all too often when I’ve been in your shoes before and had to call for them to come for help in a situation like that and they just never come.
I'm in California and I've had cops not show for a serious violent crime. I called to report a breaking and entering where an angry dude kicked in some girls front door and she was screaming bloody murder for help. All I could do was call 911, no way I was going inside. The worst thing is that we can't carry a weapon to defend ourselves here. Where does that leave us when the cops don't show either?
Cops know better that after some beating these woman most of the time go back to repeat the cycle.

There are just a lot of other issues at play here unfortunately. But I didn't see any gun either. Shooting him would've caused you problems and she'd be fucking with him when he was out of the hospital anyway. Some women like that kind of treatment. Women don't like that kind of treatment at all, the ones who stay and defend their beaters are usually so traumatized it has become normalized and they don't know how to get out of those situations or what normal even looks like anymore. A good friend of mine ran a at risk youth/women organization for quite some time and the stories she gave of people in these very same situation is heart breaking but it is also so easily dismissed as they are crazy or they like it.
Like the other person said its more that they go back out of fear for the person and for repercussions. But I get your point. Thing is we can't know because we don't know the situation they are in and in what way they are related..

Not to far from where I live a guy who is EMS responded to a call that a guy was potentially gonna harn his wife when he got there waiting back while the cops did their thing the dude pulled suddenly pulled a gun and shot his wife then domed himself. He said the wife luckily lived after getting her to the hospital and the guy was DOA after splattering his own brains matter on the walls and getting popped by the cop. Crazy shit

My friend stopped a guy from beating a woman nearly 20 years ago and the guy got aggressive and started fighting, my friend subdued him and took him to the ground to wait for him to calm down... The guys woman picked up a brick and smashed my friend over the head causing serious wounds...

I remember a law enforcement officer telling me about women who act like that and how they started acted like that.
He told me it's a cycle, and it begins in an abusive relationship where the male starts using and abusing the female, and once the female eventually gains enough courage to break up with him, he will pour out his heart and beg for them to get back together, usually saying "I'll try to be better this time, I swear", and once they get back together, the abuse starts happening again. After a while, the female gets used to it, and let's it happen. She still believes the male loves her, in most cases thinking that it's just his way of loving her. Once someone tries to stop the abusive male, she will try to protect him, because she's been lured to believe that the relationship isn't bad, and that he still cares for her. Prime example shown in this video.

I know its disheartening when you call and nobody shows up.. but you also have to consider the amount of call they get and the amount of police they have. Chicago is losing officers faster then they can replace them and crime just keeps increasing. They are constantly just trying to play catch up and respond to the most important calls first. You did the right thing in this situation.

As someone who has a electric bike who also lives in illinois, I would like to share my small knowledge of the laws regarding electric bikes. 1: if it is over 750 watts it is not an electric bike and you need your motorcycle liscense. 2: if it has no pedals it is not an electric bike and you need you motorcycle liscense. 3: if i goes over 28 miles per hour, it is not an electric bike and you need your motorcycle liscense. That is all. Love you videos. Stay safe out there.
