I swapped out our DL8 mirrors on our 07 tahoe for a 2010 Sierra DL3. Been searching on ebay for dl3 mirror switches for both fronts found some for a decent price.
Hello there I have a 2008 sierra SLE with DL8. I bought a master switch from a 2008 Sierra denali DL3. I also bought DL3 mirrors from a 2008 tahoe denali. The switch seems to fit in the door but the existing door harness connectors do not match or fit the new DL3 master switch. What did i do wrong?
Hello i was watching your video. By the way great video i wanted to ask you i just bought 2011 Tahoe is there a way when you lock the the car that the mirrors will fold in.
Thanks! I just go my 2008 LT Suburban from auction. I saw there was the mirror fold switch but no folding mirrors. I thought is needed the gears but when I opened it --no motor! My question is how do I know if the passenger side is the correct one?? I can't tell if they replaced the DS3 mirror with a DS8 (cheaper??) or replaced the controller on the driver side (only??). so, can you tell me what I can look for to see if I already have the correct passenger side controller?
You didn't mention anything about programming the switches. How did you get the switches programmed to the car? I have been working with the gm tech2 and sps but the power fold option is not available for the VIN. Love to hear how you pulled it off
Eric Beauchamp i bought them used already pre programmed! I mention this in the video that your best bet when doing this swap is to buy them used instead of buying brand new blank ones. When to a couple dealerships and they wanted over 100$ to program them and it was the same cost for me to buy both used! Never did any programming just a plug and go process honestly!
If you have a tech II the you should be able to program it yourself as everything can be programmed in the car! I just don’t have proper knowledge towards using a tech II !

So I have a 2010 LS Tahoe, don’t have any of the Ltz package options....will this same set up work on it? And if so would you have links of where to buy thanks.
From my research on the topic vehicles that don't have that panel that I showed in the video will not work. This is the Upgrade from DL8 to DL3. If you have power moving side mirrors it should work. Some cars have different driver panels and will not work depending on how your LS Tahoe is equipped. Mine is the LT and has the power moving side mirrors so the programming in the car was there and in the panels that bought from a donor Tahoe it was an easy swap for me. LS vehicles are tedious and sometimes are missing some stuff that an LT would have. As long as you have power moving mirrors I would say its worth a shot but PPV Tahoe's ( Police Pursuit Vehicles ) and LS are almost identical on how they are equipped. But that's from my understanding on this topic so far. I hoped I helped you. Best of Luck!!
M Cordova sadly no i haven’t looked into it since i bought mine i highly suggest looking on eBay for DL3 switches make sure you buy the driver and the passenger side. Also make sure your Driver side window switches resemble mine in the video its the best source you have to determine what you do from there!
As long as the switches I shown match yours… It should work! Follow the instructions I provide and also make sure you get the passenger switch as well. YOU can’t skip it!!
I have an 07 Tahoe LT dont come with the folding mirrors, once I get the panel switches and mirrors is it just plug an play or does the dealer have to program it so they can work? Do you have links where to get the switch panels?
If you purchase the switches used they will work. Plug and Play. You buy them new you need programming! I recommend purchasing them used and you will get them cheaper! that's what I did and they still work to this day with no hic up!
hi i have a 07 silverado,it came with power heated mirrors.i would like to upgrade to a mirror with more features.i noticed that the better mirrors have two plugs at the end.where does the second plug go? into, the door switch?i havent taken my door panel off so im not sure what to expect.i am currently searching for the door switches for the folding mirrors.is there anything else i need aside from the door switches?
how did you wire your passenger mirror if you truck never came with the folding mirrors?i dont see a passenger mirror switch for silverado.searched e-bay and gmparts direct..
@@edwardandriaccio When it comes to the Silverado they have two different interiors. I do not know what exact interior you have but if it resembles mine. A simple search on eBay yields multiple results!
I’m late but I got a 2007 Tahoe it had stock mirrors but got some 2010 tahoe turn signal mirrors and the driver switch but not the switch for passenger side and the passenger mirror turn signal not working is it bc it has the switch for 2007 and not the 2010 switch?
I have a 2013 Tahoe and it didn’t come with power folding turn signal or puddle or blindspot. I have rear park assist and I have the new switches for the mirrors and blind spot so do I just plug and play or I have to buy modules
Kid Mechanics Everything is gonna work except for blind assist. Park Assist doesn’t affect the mirrors themselves at all. If you got the ones with the blind assist the marker on the side mirror that tells you if someone is right beside you isn’t going to work properly or at all! There is more equipment to the the blind assist then just putting them on. There is forums of people discussing it and possibly hard wiring it with the rear park sensors but thats more of a hassle then it needs to be nor anyone followed up with results. But the rest should work perfectly fine as long as you have both passenger and driver side switches with the power folding button and programming! You can find them used on ebay for cheap and i suggest you ask to buy them in pairs so you have the peace of mind that there from the same car that they were taken off of
So if I have a base model LS Tahoe. I can just buy the power folding side mirrors with the turn signals and buy both switches and its just plug and play? I have ones im going to buy from a local junk yard. But I was told I need an extra harness in the dash or something to be able to use the power folding and turn signals. Is that true? Thanks
Hope this question wasn’t asked already. On my 2011 suburban a replaced mirrors with ones that have turn signal and puddle lights only. My originals had neither nor did it have power mirrors. After install turn signal works but puddle lights don’t. Do I need to replace door switch for puddle lights to work?
Hey brother I have same situación on my Tahoe 08 LT I BOUGHT MIRRORS WITH SIGNAL LIGHTS. BUT PUDDLE LIGTHS DUD NOT WORK SO DID U BUY BOTH ON THE CONTROLS SWITCH S. TO MAKE THEM WORK SND IS SO DID THE MIRRORS FOLD TOO? Tks
Hey Gorge I have DL8 mirror now I'm switching those DL8 mirrors for the DL3 mirrors of the Silverado 2009 to 2014( Part # 20756877/20843138) these are OEM but these don't have the Puddler light feature, I like to swap the bottom cap for the one that comes with the puddler light Part Number 752344, 752386 on them and swaps them, my dl3 mirror doesn't have the light bulb housing can I add one and where do I pigtail this of on the mirror Can I do this swap? I have the lt Tahoe 2008 with power mirror by replacing both switched for the DL3 switches these should work without having to program them?
When it comes to the puddle lights if they didn't come with the side mirrors they shouldn't have a problem. The point of switching DL8 to DL3 is for the power-folding feature PRIMARILY. If your side mirrors didn't come with the puddle lights but came with power-folding it will work as long as you have the DL3 switches. If you bought the switches used, its plug and play. If you bought the switches new.. You got to find a dealership willing to do the programming for you. All the programming is stored within the switches and it communicates with the passenger side switches as well. You cant avoid the passenger side or they will NOT work. Now adding puddle lights to a non-puddle light side mirror is a different ball game that I would advise against since you can find aftermarket ones for roughly 200$ with all the features your seeking. But OEM is the best route for quality. All the wiring is within those cables that you connect to the switches so it's not worth the hassle to add them. Hope this helped!
Hey George thank you for the reply I got a great deal on pair of OEM power folding mirror from the 2009 to 20011 Silverado this did no come with the puddle light I have modified this and added puddle light to them I was trying to avoid running cable to the done light power source I was hoping there is a cable in the switched as far as the operation I should be fine without having to go to a dealer for programing as I got the driver side switchis new but the passage is from a suburban with Dl3 mirror options with this decision shuld be fine or not? Thanks agsin
I must ask you. I have 2011 LTZ AVALANCHE. And I found on amazon mirrors with blind spot sensors. Will it works with my Avalanche? I have fully loaded LTZ Avalanche and mirrors except blind spots. And I am wonder it will fit and works?
Can someone pleasee help out i would greatly appreciate u wat activates the mirrior lights when i hit unlock nothin happen but i have seen them pop on when i activate my alarm is there a off n on switch help please
I don't have the DL3 panel in my LT can I install the mirrors that come (without) the power-folding option but still have the puddle lights and turn signals? they should just plug right into the door switches correct? I currently only have the heated/ power tilt mirrors like you.
I have a 07 tahoe ls model just want to make sure i get the right mirrors....if i get the mirrors from a turn signal an power fold tahoe and escalade 09-14 escalade switches will this work?
Don't get escalade switches! keep it consistent between Chevy and GMC. Side mirrors from escalades have issues communicating between that platform from conversations from other individuals via forums.
Is the harness there for the lighting upgrades? I have a Tahoe PPV with power mirrors, I just bought the upgraded mirrors with signals and puddle lights. Will it be plug and play or do I need to upgrade the switch and add a harness?
I know that the PPV has less features because its a police pursuit vehicle. But if you have power mirrors then you need the switches from a DL3 vehicle Driver and Passenger ( try to get them as a bundle) the harness is already on those side mirrors you have! So no adding a harness its all plug play. The PPV and the LS are odd balls from how there equipped. LT are a guarantee to work because of the already pre existing hardware. I hope this explained it
@@BuildItGeorge thanks for the reply. The mirrors I bought are power, heated, turn signal, manual fold, with puddle lights. The oem mirrors are power, and heated. So the mirror harness plugs straight into the window switch controller? Is that the same on both sides? Is there might be a possibility that I need to upgrade the switch panel? What about the light features? Are the trucks pre wired for all that?
The Car Dad The Car Dad good question theres more to the mirrors them selves some also have Power tilt where you put in reverse the mirrors tilt downward. You need the DL3 side mirror switches for both driver and passenger in order for the side marker to activate and i believe the same goes for the puddle light as they came as one package from the factory. If you want try them with the switches you have now but from my understanding from the swap you need DL3 switches for both sides in order to make it work! I haven’t tried them without the power folding option being present but the puddle lights turn on the moment the car is unlocked via remote. Trucks are the exact same way if your using regular side mirrors instead of tow mirrors that lack certain features. Tow mirrors are different and some require extra wiring for certain features to work but everything is color coded and written in the panel where you plug everything in.
@@BuildItGeorge yes for sure! I'm in the process of switching to all LEDs and don't want to use resistors but can't without programming the bcm/ecm. And they don't have a flasher to switch out either🙄🙄
Okay, it's pretty simple actually. The devices need to communicate with each other with the BCM acting as the middle man ( Body Control Module) They are not independent and require the programming between each switch to communicate and execute commands as an example to fold. If you believe you can hardwire these items go ahead but you risk your BCM being fried. Also, the programming also comes with power tilt which becomes present in the DIC screen under settings. Two options you have are either buy them used and save yourself hundreds of dollars and enjoy the folding option and puddle lights or risk it to make something work when you don't have the appropriate equipment to utilize the features of this swap. Hence why I stress you need both switches (Driver & Passenger) Take care and I hope to see you again in the near future!

I have a 2011 Tahoe and I have all the parts, except the front passenger switch. Do you have a part number for the correct switch??
@@BuildItGeorge yea I have power moving side mirrors, any links of where to buy
M Cordova sadly no i haven’t looked into it since i bought mine i highly suggest looking on eBay for DL3 switches make sure you buy the driver and the passenger side. Also make sure your Driver side window switches resemble mine in the video its the best source you have to determine what you do from there!
@@BuildItGeorge thanks for the info, subscribed already 👍🏼
M Cordova thanks man i appreciate it !
Was it hard to change out?
Nope just need some knowledge towards prying off the door! Very simple and I could make a video in the near future.
So I have a 09 silverado I got everything out of a 09 yukon denali
How would I wire it up
will it work with a gmc sierra 2012 single cab ?
As long as the switches I shown match yours… It should work! Follow the instructions I provide and also make sure you get the passenger switch as well. YOU can’t skip it!!
I have an 07 Tahoe LT dont come with the folding mirrors, once I get the panel switches and mirrors is it just plug an play or does the dealer have to program it so they can work? Do you have links where to get the switch panels?
If you purchase the switches used they will work. Plug and Play. You buy them new you need programming! I recommend purchasing them used and you will get them cheaper! that's what I did and they still work to this day with no hic up!
@@BuildItGeorge will this mod work on a Special service Tahoe?
Will this work on a 08 Silverado 1500
As long as you have the stuff I talked about then yes it works all the way through the 07-14 model of Chevy and GMC vehicles!
hi i have a 07 silverado,it came with power heated mirrors.i would like to upgrade to a mirror with more features.i noticed that the better mirrors have two plugs at the end.where does the second plug go? into, the door switch?i havent taken my door panel off so im not sure what to expect.i am currently searching for the door switches for the folding mirrors.is there anything else i need aside from the door switches?
how did you wire your passenger mirror if you truck never came with the folding mirrors?i dont see a passenger mirror switch for silverado.searched e-bay and gmparts direct..
Yep, its all in the programming in the DL3 spec switch
Hey brother I have same situación on my Tahoe 08 LT
I BOUGHT MIRRORS WITH SIGNAL LIGHTS. BUT PUDDLE LIGTHS DUD NOT WORK
SO DID U BUY BOTH ON THE CONTROLS SWITCH S. TO MAKE THEM WORK SND IS SO
DID THE MIRRORS FOLD TOO?
Tks
Hey Gorge I have DL8 mirror now I'm switching those DL8 mirrors for the DL3 mirrors of the Silverado 2009 to 2014( Part # 20756877/20843138) these are OEM but these don't have the Puddler light feature, I like to swap the bottom cap for the one that comes with the puddler light Part Number 752344, 752386 on them and swaps them, my dl3 mirror doesn't have the light bulb housing can I add one and where do I pigtail this of on the mirror
Can I do this swap?
Nope it won’t. You’re missing a lot of equipment to support that feature!
I need some d3
Can someone pleasee help out i would greatly appreciate u wat activates the mirrior lights when i hit unlock nothin happen but i have seen them pop on when i activate my alarm is there a off n on switch help please
I don't have the DL3 panel in my LT can I install the mirrors that come (without) the power-folding option but still have the puddle lights and turn signals? they should just plug right into the door switches correct? I currently only have the heated/ power tilt mirrors like you.
U could install THE DL3 PANEL
I went from a dl8 to a dl3 on my 08 silverado LT
If I have a 08 Silverado z71 with the folding mirrors can I swap them for the ones that come with the puddle light Morris will it be plug and play
yes if they already fold the programming is all in there within the switch those switches you have in your car!
Can you post a wiring diagram?
Fred With Benefits Theres no wiring involved! Plug and Play is the name of the game here hence why i made it simple with an explanation
This would have been perfect if it worked with the LS model
For sure. Just certain modules arnt available sadly that is required
@@BuildItGeorge yes for sure! I'm in the process of switching to all LEDs and don't want to use resistors but can't without programming the bcm/ecm. And they don't have a flasher to switch out either🙄🙄
Can u just hard wire to ur own switches save the shit talking y wouldn't u be able to?
