  • (Links BELOW) Here is how to repair a damaged GMC (2007 & Up) Power Folding Mirror Motor - OR just the mirror glass; OR just the shell. I recommend getting the upgraded rebuilt motor with the metal gears. ALSO- IF you are going this route - I HIGHLY recommend taking the whole thing apart BEFORE ordering parts to familiarize yourself & be sure the motor is WHAT you need. This was done on a GMC Denali 2011.

    Notes: GruvenParts sells a rebuilt motor for about $230. It has upgraded metal gears. They also sell an upgraded gear set - but the wiring is different for the metal gears grounding. So you have to be careful. Their rebuilt motor is plug & play.

    Much better than spending 1200.00 at the dealership. Sadly, we should not have to replace these cheap plastic gears on an 80K product !

    Just finished replacing my mirror motor on my 2010 Silverado and couldn't have done it without your video! Took less than 45 minutes. Like you said, removing and replacing the mirror was the hardest part but removing the exterior cover made me nervous, too. Thought I was going to break it but everything turned out great! I did reach back to Gruven. They were great. They asked for a video and their response was yep, there is something wrong. I sent it back normal usps on a Saturday, Paul at Gruven fixed it and sent it back the same day. I had it in my hand the next Saturday and installed Sunday. So far so good. Great people to do business with.

    This is a very informative video. I appreciate you making it. I recently bought a 2011 Chev Avalanche (same mirrors) and both mirrors didn`t work. The original owner never used them.I sprayed almost a half can of WD 40 in both and gradually they worked. But then I also have a 2007 Avalanche passenger side mirror you can hear the gears grinding and the drivers side moves very slow. WD 40 didn`t fix those so will be following your video and change motors. Thanks again for your help.

    Not sure what they do with the mirror to actuator clips, but mine when back on real easy the second time I removed and reinstalled, so it seems like that is somewhat consistent. Maybe do an install / removal a few times when it's apart (when it's easy to do) may be the trick. (When I removed the first time it was a bear to get back on)

I bought a used 2007 Tahoe and the passenger side mirror was replaced with a after market mirror that doesn’t fold in and the driver side folded in for the first few months but now the motor has gone out. NO. It is ONE motor per mirror. One motor cannot operate the mirror on the other side. If BOTH mirrors are floppy or not moving properly - then you have to change the motor in each mirror separately.

    • @TheRealWorld737
      @TheRealWorld737  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Straight from the Gruvenparts page that I have linked in the description.. "* You Cannot Just Install a Metal Gear Without Also Changing The Motor To The GruvenParts INTERNALLY GROUNDED MOTOR ! You Will Short Out the Body Control Module. All Of Our Kits Come With New Motors Which Are Internally Grounded and Work With Metal Gears - So Don't Just Replace the Gear, You Must Replace Both Gear AND Motor When Going to Metal !!! ** (Stock gears have plastic - replacement gears have metal. So, the wiring has to be different in the motor itself because GMC wired the motors with plastic internal parts. When you place a metal gear inside - then it grounds it the wrong way and creates a short. Gruvenparts has this on the ordering webpage - as I've copied and pasted above).

      Here is the Gruvenparts page that I mention in the video. According to them, this will work with your year Acadia. But you have to decide if you are willing to do the installation/modification and to what extent. If it's too difficult - then you probably should just buy a replacement mirror & get it painted to match:

    I replaced mine, but now it's making a squealing noise. Bought the motor from Gruver pts. 3-4 mos ago. Has anyone had this happen ??

      Reach out to Gruvenparts ASAP. Mine didn’t do that - but I’d get the ball rolling and ask them about it.
