Not what I was looking for but watched the whole video, super interesting. This video is pure gold.
What would you think the cause of BOTH side mirrors not adjusting out? Not the whole folding thing... but the actual top mirror not going left on either mirror (to the outside on drive and to the inside on passenger). Tried replacing the switch with no luck.

fyi: 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan owners: My power mirrors stop stopped working (both sides).
I couldn't find any TH-cam videos on my year/make/model.
The fuse box cover does not identify which fuse or relay controls the power mirrors.
It turned out to be a 'blown 15A fuse' designated for the A/C Clutch. Replace the fuse and mirrors worked again.

Question for you. I have a 2011 Silverado 1500 and the driver mirror works just fine but the passenger mirror doesn't work at all. I checked the fuse and fuse is good. In your video you said if the passenger mirror wasn't working that I need to remove the passenger door. Why would I need to remove the passenger door if the driver side panel controls the passenger mirror as well? If I remove the passenger side there is no switch on the door panel.

Good video. I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The left mirror goes left and right but not up and down. The right mirror goes up and down but not left and right. So I'm getting power throught the switch. The motors work so I'm thinking the problem is the switch. Do you agree? Or does each mirror have 2 motors, one for vertical and one for horizontal and mine just happen to have gone bad on different axes? I vote for the switch. Thank you.

My mirror's are working, up/down adjustments. BUT THEY DO NOT OPEN OR CLOSE NOW? Workin fine when driving and stop at store. Then went to open and didn't? Help😮 thanks

I have a Nissan qashqai 2014. Both wing mirror auto fold from the internal door panel but neither mirror on both passenger and driver can be adjusted or folded while holding the lock on the key fob. Also there is no noise when trying to adjust them either. Could this be a simple fuse problem or do you think the mirror motor needs replaced. I'd appreciate it if you could shed some light this before I contact the dealership for a service.

How do you test that with f you have an airbag on that side do you disconnect the airbag and then turn the power on in and then test it
My 2014 Ford fusion has a driver mirror issue.Passenger side fully functional.Driver mirror goes up and down blinker and defrost work but no left and right mirror movement.Any guess at most probable failure point? Thanks

What should I do if there is not any voltage on wire at all.. meanwhile I already changed the fuse of the ACC lines at fuse box and voltage is present at the fuse box. But the voltage is seems like doesn't goes to the electric mirror pins at all.
Does getting voltage from cigarette lighter is would be safe for long usage for the car electricity? Due with takes the voltage from lighter is fixing my electric mirror problem.

I have part of the same problem. Both mirrors go in & out, but not up & down. I replaced the switch, but problem was not resolved. I will take panel off tomorrow and check for connections with the ground and directional wires. Looks like a great tip.

my car's left wing mirror was hit by a trolley in the car park. ever since then it made weird noises when retracting and the angle would be off. I have adjust it every time. Any ideas?
I had to install a new mirror, on a 2009 nissan versa hatch, when i go to adjust the mirror it works fine until i press the UP position on the adjust switch then it blows a fuse and the radio and power windows go out..the fuse was actually lit up and glowed red...not hot or anything...its a red 10a and its a new fuse..
What could that be?
I swapped out other fuses to check and everything is fine with a new fuse but same deal when i hit the up portion of the mirror adjust button

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! My power folding mirror on my passenger side will not work. I just bought a used Ram from a Chrysler dealer that's in really good shape but I realized after a week of having it that the passenger mirror will not work. 2005 Silverado 1500 HD electric mirrors switch problem - just the 4 way up/down switch wasn't working - fixed by disassembling switch assy and cleaning gently with Q-tips and alcohol the black pads that contact the gold traces on the PCB ( just like cleaning the pads inside on a TV remote ). Success - Cost zero.

I bought aftermarket mirror for 2011 tundra, it goes right all the way but left it stops and just jumping all I see 1/8 of a truck passanger door. Is it defected?
Yes. The gears in the mirror are plastic so when something blocks the mirror the gear will slip instead of breaking. I would think one of the gears may be stripped or the mirror is misaligned. Move it all the way to the right then use your hand to force the mirror to the center. You will hear it clicking. Then use the switch to move it left and right. It should work but if it doesn't replace the mirror.
On the mirror switch, can I use electrical cleaner to clean the switch?
I need to get one of those test lights to see where my problem is. Both of my mirrors only move down
My mirror is working but the it is pointing down too much, trying to adjust it I run out of range and in fact at the extreme it starts moving down further as it hits maximum adjustment level.
That's drivers side, passenger side is at right level. So is there a way to recalibrate the motor to move the glass where I need it?
+Petrik Oud Thanks for watching! You might want to try and simply unplug the mirror or disconnect the negative battery terminal to see if this helps reset it. If your mirrors have the memory feature try to reset the memory or disable the curb tilt feature. If none of this works then you will likely need to replace your mirror.
Simple. Just manually push the mirror glass away from the limit point. Just push the mirror slowly upwards. It will feel like gears are slipping.

Great video however this is definitely a mechanic level work.
If you know how to unscrew a bolt and how to measure current you can do it yourself.
I had to replace the passenger side. Now I have the problem of the reverse tilt not working properly. Instead of tilting downwards, it tilts all the way up, and it doesn't go back when I put it in drive. I have to adjust it every time, after putting it in reverse. Is there a way to reset the mirror, or a way to just simply disable the reverse tilting?
+Donnie Bible Thanks for watching! You can try to disable the reverse tilt setting first to see if that helps. If not then it is very possible that the mirror you purchased does not have all the same features as your original, which can cause these sorts of issues.
I got after market mirror on 2011 and it wont move properly it's just jumping back and forth. I have to sit all they back just to see cars on my right. And it's making noises
I have a 2002 Cheverolet Astro LS passenger van, rear wheel drive: my left driver side mirror wouldn't work at all even after I bought a new electrical power mirror switch off of ebay: (the right side passenger mirror would only work east and west but not north and south:) turns out after removing the left driver side mirror to inspect the motor, there was no wire coming out of the mirror to connect to the mirror wire-harness and that is why it was not working; Someone put a standard regular non-electric left driver side mirror in its place which have no wire to connect to the mirror wire-harness: and luckily for me I had a brand new left driver side electric mirror (for a previously own 2001 GMC Safari) that I bought off of ebay and that I never used until today: and it fit perfectly, problem solved!!!

My drivers side mirror got stuck earlier this year. Now the dealership is charging us R11 000., to fix it.( I live in South Africa). Is it possible they could have done what you did in the video? Checking inside the door ....I don't think they know what to do. After seeing your video, it feels that our dealership, doesn't bother to fix it. I came to them for help, just when it happened. And the workshop guy said, it cannot be fixed. Now all of a sudden it can.
If the mirror controller switch for both mirrors is on the drivers side door why would you remove the passenger side door to check the switch. I have no switch on the passengers side for that mirror that I know of .
This is not a UK car, which you might have. In many other countries the driver sits on the left hand side and they drive on the right, so this is the driver side door for them. 😉

I repllaced the whole power mirror and switch and still didnt work, so i changed to 2amp fuse and it finally worked for a few days now nothing??
My mirror controller got wet and I dried everything out really well disconnecting it and everything before using. Everything on it now functions but is opposite. Right mirror controls left, left controls right. Up moves down, down moves up, left moves right and right moves left. Trying to find the culprit....any ideas?
Pick-N-Pull for parts. They are really cheap compared to any auto store. You can get the entire switch panel for probably $20-$25. They give you a list of years of the cars that are compatible with yours.

Me too, 2002 VW GTI. I only noticed it right after a bird hit the passenger side mirror and busted the glass. No idea if the two are related, or if it’s just coincidence. It’s possible that the driver side mirror problem started earlier and I didn’t notice, because I seldom need to adjust it.
Good video, but just saying “remove the door panel” as if it’s a piece of cake is quite misleading. It appears to be a major undertaking on its own for my 2002 VW GTI, with hidden and virtually inaccessible screws and who knows what else, what wires and connections might be at risk behind the panel when you try to remove it.
What if you hear the motor but the mirror doesn't move. My mirror gies left right up but not down

Do not make the mistake of removing the entire switch assembly and leaving it dangling by the wires when you have removed the door panel for repair or replacement as the switch can become wedged between the seat and the door when closed and burn out your mirror motor. Bleep@!*&%|

It seems to me that the OTHER functions of the switch are working like the windows sooo it’s almost definitely not the switch…the black box module the control module controls what ? Mine has BOTH the turn signal and no movement not working…
My situation is it works, but I can't adjust it to my preference. It'll fold in & will move outwards but thts it..

I have a 2010 Bmw 750i and the mirrors will go to the left and up but not to the right and down. If I put the car in reverse the mirrors will go down. Any suggestions? The windows do operate properly

Try to open your electric mirror switch, and check the voltage first on the cables that come from fuse box. If there's some voltage then the problem is at your mirror switch.
Open the switch case and take a look at the pcb , perhaps there's some broken pcb lines or some dirty connector caused by dust or rusty.
Clean it by contact cleaner. But if some pcb lines broken, then you must resoldering the lines.
