I have the neck light thingy (in fact, i have 2!). I use them when I'm crocheting - especially black wool which is a nightmare to work with! (fellow yarn lovers will know what i mean, lol). I love them.
That “Glocusent” reading light looks like just what I need for nighttime knitting!

$3 per silicone thing sounded high to me too, but then I thought “do I really want the cheapest silicone for food stuff?”
I would put the light so it shines left and right not up and down so it covers more floor and longer distance

not sure of the purpose tho... considering how spread the light is, that would probably just light the wall and not the ground (wich is the main place to light up)
@@franktrinidad142 lighting the wall will reflect onto the floor. The idea of this light is to give some light to see by when the lights or power is out. When the power goes out here I aim my flash light at the celling so it lights the hole room enough to see to get around.
One benefit I see of the food hugger especially when used with the tomato is that the juices are well contained compared to plastic wrap.

@@mikeh8228 I wash all my dishes by hand. I fill up the sink half way and wash all my dishes. A few silicone pieces won’t use any extra water.

@@mikeh8228 Even if using a dishwasher, these wouldn't take up much space. So there's no real reason to not just put them in with the load.
The smallest food hugger is the perfect size for one of those tiny cans of tomato paste. 'Cuz recipes always want 1 Tbs, but the can has 6 oz. (That's how I discovered these several years ago - I was looking for can covers.)
Buy a mini fan from the Dollar Tree for a dollar, and then buy an eight pack of double a batteries that you can put in it. Why waste all of your phone life on a tiny fan that really won't do anything!?
Might as well pick up some night lights while you're there, too.

My friends get angry at me for watching reviews of products for entertainment. I’ve been watching James White with Freakin’ Reviews for a couple years now and haven’t bought one product he’s reviewed. Came close to buying the personal AC he reviewed though.

Up down light seems useful if you're digging around in a closet and need the light facing up
It also seems like it could be useful if turned sideways to illuminate the entire run of a hallway.
I bought a small battery-powered fan that I can wear like a necklace, and it creates an updraft. It’s lovely, and runs on AA batteries, and the batteries last a decent length of time.
The up/down might work better as a left/right.

Instead of using the up-down light as an up-down light, how about using it as a left-right light instead? Just change the orientation when you mount it and I think it may produce much more usable range of lighting.
wouldn't light the ground much considering how spread the light is. Wich is the main point for such light dont you think ?

I might use the up down light in a closet such as a linen closet, which has no plug.
The updown lights are great for dark bathrooms and hallways that don't have any or a lot of outlets.
Yeah, I might be getting a few of those. I just hope the batteries last long in them.
why would you burn your battery on a dumb fan when a phone can barely keep its charge for a day 😆
Don't use the phone fans, they can damage your charging ports.

Fish the cheap garbage stuff like those little fans are not manufactured up to any standards, and probably very little quality control, thus potentially leading to short circuit, not physically damaging the port but potentially causing damage on the phones electronics. Some phones may have safeguards against that put even those phone rated to charging other items probably don’t have adequate protecting against a full short circuit. They’re probably relying on the small gauge of wire and poor solders in cheap chinesium stuff to burn/melt off before internal damage occurs to the phone.
As long as it doesn't malfunction, your port will be fine. The real problem is it will drain your battery.
I keep the auto sensor lights in my house for when the power goes off. There is nothing I hate worse than trying to find a flashlight in the dark.

I would use the up down light as a right left light. Illumenate further sideways. Just what I would do.

The usb fan, drains the battery too fast for the battery BMS to handle, so it usually ends up in a blown capacitor
up/down looks like it might be more useful as left/right

But if all the crispy bits end up wedged at the bottom. . . The little crispy bits are my favorite part.
Reminds me of those fancy newspaper-lined, spiral holders that some places serve their fish and chips with.
My favorite product you reviewed this time was the "Bailey Family Pooch" product. She seems good, very reliable, friendly and lasts a long time definitely the best investment out of this group i'd say lol, good video overall :)
I never buy any of these gadgets on his channel but I always watch his latest reviews.
I don't know if you get any sort of Amazon kickback (you should) but I purchased the neck light based on your review. I find it really handy working out on a theater grid for quick repairs. Thanks for making me aware if it! Love your channel!

The fan turns off because iOS has a security feature that disables the lightning port when not unlocked to prevent hackers from getting into your phone (and the fbi for that matter)
Doesn't stop their perverted repair guys from stealing your data and nudes though. Four incidents to date.
Don't worry, if you're in China/are Chinese Apple has to hand over any information they have on you to your government by law or they will lose their access to the market. Apple will also block TH-cam, Twitter, Facebook, and any other app banned in China to keep you safe.

@@PongoXBongo That'd be a viable defense if it wasn't nigh impossible to fix the device yourself. Broken lightning port is what led to two such data breaches. Apple's just not concerned if they're the ones who violate your privacy. Same as Google, boasts about security and privacy, violates either as much as they want.

I can see where that up/down light would be very useful in closets, cupboards, etc. as well as a night light.
I was just thinking. The up down light might be good mounted on the side of a bunk bed. Then both too and bottom can decide if they want it lit up for reading or whatever
This one has a few extra features, but I had a similar neck light… gosh, 20 years ago? It held up for quite some time.
Would have liked to see if the open can was sealed enough that if it knocked over wouldn't spill. But other than that good review. I really like the two light options, definitely gonna check them out.👍🏻😊
I also wondered if the soda was sealed well enough to maintain carbonation, similar to putting the cap back on a soda bottle!
That light can also be a left-right light for a hallway or something. Can't believe you never thought of that.
I can think of a few scenarios it'd be useful to have one of those updown light thingies. ie lighting a banister/handrails (up) & stairs (down), that sorta thing.
Those phone fans are known to be poorly made and damaging to batteries and charge ports
i use the neck light on my head when crocheting, so basically an adjustable headlamp too
I have the food huggers and love them. Definitely reach for them over plastic wrap.
That neck light would have been a godsend back in the day before backlit handhelds and cellphones.
Got that tiny fan for a dollar at GameStop years ago. Worth it.
The Food Huggers picked up an awful odor from onions that I couldn't get rid of.

I use the food huggers - when they fit ! The smallest one usually fits a small lime. I like saving on plastic wrap

The "up-down" light would be better as a "side-to-side" light. :L
I came to the comments to see if anyone else thought that it would be a good idea to turn the light sideways.......the only thing i can thing of using the "up" light for is if your trying to display a picture or something on the wall above the light.

The 1st fan was given away at the Wisconsin State Fair in 2014 by cell phone companies & drains the device very quickly! It had a Apple & mini USB plug adapter & didn't work on all devices.

It’s not the fan’s fault, your phone cut off the power to USB host when not in uae for battery life, you can disable timeout of your phone, or use an app that won’t idle like playing a video / music or map navigation
While it’s not the “fan’s fault,” it is still a negative aspect of using it.
@@Kenthis15 yeah it's more of an inherent flaw in the idea. Not to mention USB ports aren't expecting terrible motor loads, so the people warning it could mess up your circuits aren't kidding.

There's no way I would trust a $1000 phone to a cheap fan from China. That's a good way to fry the charging circuit. A phone isn't made to power a motorized device anyway.

Which is more wasteful - plastic wrap, or water/energy to wash food huggers?
Water is plentiful (depends heavily on your country), while plastic doesn't degrade for thousands of years.
The fan turning off and on might not be a fan issue, it could just be the phone recognizing that a usb has been inserted, which means it'll try to install drivers for the fan to work properly. This happens also for pc if you insert one as it doesn't recognize it. It'll install drivers, which will make whatever it is (mouse and so on) turn off and on until the installing is complete. So that could be why it turned off/on and suddenly stopped doing it.
After learning about the neck light from you, I bought one and my life is vastly improved! Thanks, James, I can now crochet into the wee hours. 👍💜🏜️
How long do the batties last in them? Also, how many batteries do they take and what size batteries? I am def. thinking about purchasing one to use for reading before bed at night. Also, thinking it would be great to keep it on a nightstand after reading incase the power goes out.
A lamp is just too bright plus, having to get up to turn it off wakes me up fully. A doctor told me to try reading a book an hour before bed will help me fall asleep quicker. I don't like using phones/tablets to read books on they say the lighting in electronics will mess with your sleep esp. those who already have sleep issues such as insomnia.
I don't ever have foods around to use food huggers, I use everything the day of cooking. I try not to have anything left out

I have another brand of neck light but looks very similar. I use it a lot.... outside when grilling. I grill all year around and many times when it's dark outside. The neck lights are very handy and I usually adjust for them to point onto the grill. Love them.

A lil warning about those mini phone fan things, I've been told that they have a nasty habit of killing phones (i dont mean the battery but the phone itself) not sure if in the last two years or so that has been fixed or not but when its so inefficient I don't really think it'd be worth the risk or the battery drain
Regarding the motion light, you should try it sideways to see if it shines further. Just a thought.

That up down light might be good for when I want to be on my little apartment patio in the evenings and sip some hot tea or wine or something. I have a lantern I can use for now, but if that would give better light and I could just leave it outside except when it's raining, that would be pretty nice. I can go to Emigh hardware and ask about adding mounts on the back that I could slide on to push pins, and then I can place it and remove it as needed. I know you said it's for indoor-only, but if I'm using it only when I'm outside and always bring it in, it shouldn't be an issue since I wouldn't be outside if it's raining.
The UpDown Light might be good in a closet or attic for extra lighting purposes. My smaller closets don't have lights in them (obviously too small), but the mounting option for this and the motion detector makes this a perfect size and option for a closet for me. I am pleasantly surprised by this one.

The Up-Down Light would be useful in a closet, where you can choose which setting is best.
I have a phone fan and it worked well. My fan would stay on when my phone turned off.

I've had that neck light for a couple months. I like that little pad in the back so that it doesn't stick to your neck. You can also charge it while using it, though you will feel a small amount of heat on you neck. I actually use it when I crochet in bed.
I must have missed that part while doing something does it recharge by a usb port or does it have a plug in.. I am really interested in buying it since it requires no batteries. Also, tend to fall asleep while reading a book in bed. Lol

I think perhaps at some point his phone connected to his car's bluetooth and it was keeping it "awake", I don't know for sure I just noticed at 5:20 it showed his phone was connected to his car
I'd like to know if the food huggers would help lessen the lose of carbonation in carbonated drinks.
I’m not sure if the seal would be strong enough to contain the pressure created as the CO2 comes out of the liquid, and if it does, whether releasing it would cause it to spray out
Another interesting & informative video. 👍I'm curious if the can hugger would keep the soda carbonated- I doubt it. I have one of the neck lights (different brand, same thing) & I really like it. Sometimes in the winter we lose power & it is really handy; leaves you hands free and shows the way in front of you. Great for reading too. 🙂
That neck light makes me think of airplane light. Kinda miss the plane.
I think the up light works if reflected off the ceiling. By mounting closer to the ceiling instead of the floor.
Who mounts night lights at the ceiling?
30 lumens won't reflect that far. And again, why wouldn't you just get a normal sensor night light?
