    1. Keep it short
    2. Use accusation audit
    3. Know when to pick up the phone instead of sending an email

I'm a gifted writer and very creative with words. After learning about "Black Swan" techniques to emails, I have influenced the culture of "no" to "yes." It's powerful when you can influence someone's emotions or behavior in email.

This is great stuff. Matches a lot of what I've developed over the years from trial and error. Just shared it with a sales team I've been working with as it teaches the details so much more clearly than I can.

When you read them read them with your meanest tone. And then rewrite them so even a the person for whatever reason (they are having a bad or whatever) are starting to read your email with a bad tone, it will be hard for them to make sense that you wrote this email with a bad tone and they will start to change their own tone in their mind when they read it to make sense of it.
A good beginning matters a lot to nail it. So it removes any doubts or ambiguity right away for them. Instead to let them to have to figure out on their own (very random and dangerous) what you start to be saying and the way you meant to say it.

“But” for me, negates everything you’ve just put in the sentence before.

    Hello Brooke,
I admit it: I am high maintenance. When can we move into the office? I’m sorry to be such a fuss. I know you’re worried about getting the paperwork done prior so you don’t get reprimanded. I hope your week is going well so far. Have a great day.

    Hey Jerry,
You may be incredibly busy right now, and you’re probably wondering why I’m reaching out to you since we haven’t seen each other in so long. I’m not sure if you know, but (omit “but” and simply put a period) I’m on the volunteer staff that runs (insert business and department / event here). We obviously aren’t going to have an in-person event this year, but we’re really trying hard to put together a fun virtual event for the community in July. Would it be completely ridiculous to ask if (insert their business / organization) could help us out by providing a mixologist for our social/networking happy hour?

Always use BCC for group messages. LOL -- I'm writing this before listening to the entire video. Sorry if it was mentioned. :)

I heard it from a good source that "but" is a reset word. Do we want to reset your prior statement?

You never want to put your "but" right in someone else's face (smile).

BV: nice habit breaking of the "but" , this may have started with PeeWee Herman encouraging Simone to pursue her dream, funny enough,,, Peace3ed

Brendon said "but, again..." at 10.05 mins. Easier to hear than stop saying.
