That search function is a perfect example of why pro tools is so great.
It gets a lot of crap for not having all the features of reaper.
Well, reaper has this search function - written by a third party. Does it work anywhere near as well as this? No
Pro tools might take a while to get certain features, but when it does, they are generally rock solid

Thank you, very easy explanation for me. Wondering how you got those marker lines down the page, I need this

again, thx for doing this. Avid did a lousy job of documenting the changes. when I installed this yesterday, I took a 5min look around and was like, "sigh, no big diff", but it's a fair bit.....getting it almost to PT Ultimate.
Heck, even HEAT is available now, which I'm almost positive that I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't opened up the keyboard shortcuts window

Finally, studio 1 is the best. I’m glad to see pro tools coming up with new con-cept. The price ‘’sub-mission‘ subscriptions are a rip off but I digress. To each his own. Nice video tho man.

Great video! I am one of those people you talk of that has been writing in Atmos (surround). You are so right there is a lot of talk of mixing in Atmos but the key to surround is writing it from the ground up. I do not use any plugins so I am so frustrated tools does not allow a 7.1.4 bus. I have to limp along in 7.1.2. Any idea why they do that?

Thanks! In regards to the 7.1.2 channel width limit... I agree. I recently talked to some one at Avid about that... The short time fix for that is to employ the Dolby Atmos Renderer with Pro Tools (about $300 for the Dolby Atmos Production Suite) It will interpolate the Pro Tools 7.1.2 Pro Tools panning to whatever physical speaker configuration you have in your studio... 7.1.4, 9.1.6, etc.
The larger question is this... when is Avid going to employ the entire Dolby Renderer app into Pro Tools software? Avid and Dolby can still charge for it and tie it to an iLok license. It would make things SO MUCH EASIER for anyone using Atmos at any capacity (composing, mixing, etc.). At that point, the bus and track widths would have to be larger than 7.1.2. Hopefully they're working on that...

@@protoolsservices9816 Yeah I use the renderer when I have finished tracking, but I can't use it whilst writing because you have to go to 1024 sample buffer. With the native 7.1.2 I can still run at 32 samples. Working all analog I have to relay on 32 samples.

Without perpetual licenses, it's the beginning of the end
I only the know money I've got spend today, I don't know if I'll have money tomorrow, so I can't have my DAW stop working, therefor renting is a major deal breaker
Also, which new user will join a renting service when they can own all other DAW's perpetually and never worry it again?

I hear you... First of all, all software requires an occasional upgrade price to get new features and compatibility. If you find one that doesn't, you should be concerned with how long that product will remain in business. Now, if you're talking about Apple and Logic... they have an even larger subscription... the new Mac that you buy every few years.
With that said... every company (and every DAW) needs to have a steady income to pay for future software development, developers, testers, Product Managers, etc. or it will eventually collapse. Think about all of the other products and services you use that are already in the subscription model... phone, rent, utilities, streaming music, Netflix, Disney+, etc., etc. so by going to subscriptions, Avid isn't doing anything that so many other companies haven't already done years ago.

@@protoolsservices9816 Comparing a DAW subscription to your homes Rent or even Mortgage shows how much of a problem the subscription model is, this includes essential life utilities. I don't use things like streaming music, Netflix, Disney+. If a Company is saying "our subscription is equal to your food, rent or mortgage" then you have no reason to do any business with that Company because it shows how extreme the Company is. I need to eat and have a roof over my head in order to live, but I don't ned to pay a subscription fee in order to have a DAW. Avid's response can't be "don't eat, live on the street and forget about life because our subscription fee is equal to those things". DAW subscription is a terrible idea

I bought Pro Tools 12 perpetual licenses in 2018 ... to keep my perpetual licenses .. all i have to do is not update my mac OS operating system right? Thank You!

    • @protoolsservices9816
      @protoolsservices9816  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, that's true but you're not able to get to any Pro Tools releases that were released after your Annual Support Plan. Keeping your computer at the same OS/software etc. will work for a while but eventually you'll likely need to upgrade it all... or if you get a new computer, etc.
