    Very cool. I’m the old dude who started embellishing drum sounds with midi when we only had tape to work with, clock time and velocity all done by ear. Speaking of ear, I gotta go yell at some kid that I hear to “GET OFF MY LAWN!!!”

    I have been using Pro Tools since 1998 and I didn't know you could drag audio into an Instrument track. This is awesome! Instant Subscribe.

    My stereo audio track is simply not moving on an instrument/midi track, it's by passing and going to the next audio track, what should I do to fix that thing?

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not understanding the question. An audio track doesn't work in conjunction with an instrument track.

    Thanks that was very helpful, i was really looking for a click track sync to the analog drums that i wanted to bring in, seems the sync is not accurate on my other drum machine

    Does this conversion work with Pro Tools Studio by default? or do I need additional plugins to do the conversion?

    • @AudioSorcerer

      It works by default. 👍

    Is there a way to record into a microphone and have it come out onto the keyboard in notation within ProTools?

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Converting recorded audio to MIDI is what you would want to do. It's not something you can do in real-time.

    just tried this on PT 22.7 and it doesn't allow me to drag and drop the highlighted kick channel to the instrument track. strange.

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is weird. I'll have to try it when I get in the studio today.

    Dude! Thank jeebus for this man, I was sick of thinking about tab to transient and pasting in samples....screw that. You provided the missing link. There was no mention of bleed tracks though; what if your kick has low snare bleed, is there a sensitivity control to skip those transients? Maybe I will just play and see what happens. But many thanks and your Pro Tools playlist is helping me heaps, coming from a Cakewalk background for many, many years (Think 1990's) Catch ya 'round Mr Sorcerer !

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you found the video helpful! Unfortunately, the audio to MIDI will take everything including the bleed, so you will have to manually go through and edit them.

    I'm running Pro-Tools 12.6.0 and I've highlighted and my file won't move to the Instrument track I can move it to over audio tracks but nothing happens for me. What am I doing wrong?

    How does this compare to Massey DRT? Similar results?

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't used the Massey DRT but this is a bit different. When you convert audio to MIDI every sound will create a trigger. For example, if you have any instrument bleed those are going make MIDI notes too. There's no way to stop this from happening. After you convert to MIDI, you have to manually go through and delete all the notes you don't want.

    • @harindavid
      @harindavid 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AudioSorcerer right yeah that’s the issue I’ve been having. Cleaning it up, gating it, then committing the track before converting to midi. Wondering if DRT would be less tedious

    When I do this on my Kick track the midi track picks up on every other drum as well in the kick mic. Causing me to have a bunch of extra kicks hits in the midi track. Is there now way to control the threshold ?

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately not. You have to go in and remove all the excess hits.

    I made a quick test to see if this works in the free Pro Tools First, but did not succeed. I have just started to learn how to use this DAW, so probably I did something wrong. Is it possible that this very restricted version does not allow you to do this?

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a newer feature in regular Pro Tools and I don't think they've had a new update for the free version since. So I would guess that you can't do this in the free version.
