The Master of Aggressive Ring Craft

Namkabuan was a Muay Thai golden era legend with a record of 266 wins and 15 losses. He held a 6 year Lumpinee stadium reign and ran out of opponents in the end of his career.
Dubbed "The Ring Genius" and "The Plowman," I consider him the master of aggressive ring craft. With his amazing defence, Namkabuan is able to catch just about ANYONE's kick. He'd plow them into the ropes and follow it with a devastating strike.
Many speculate that he was so dominant with this that plowing became BANNED! Here's some of the elements which makes this vintage technique and strategy work!
If you're interested in learning and drilling many of his concepts, strategies and techniques - check out the exclusive work contributed by Sylvie Von-Duuglas Ittu at Nak Muay Nation: www.NakMuayNation.com

In Thai we called the plow technique "Tai Na". This Technique gave him a hugh advantage due to the way muaythai giving points. Muaythai in thailand tend to give points in whole picture base on strenght endurance and balance which means who can hit and make opponent look weak such as unbalance, daze, fall to the ground(by sweep or throw) will get so much advantage. So surely the Tai Na and all the rush and push of Namkabuan always make him look superior in thai's way of points. As the result of this case that make him the longest champ of his division, after he have no more opponent and gave away his title. The committees then decided to ban the Tai Na technique as an illegal unfair move till now.

But in one rare traditional match between Namkabuan and Somrak that very few knew about it(but i can remember SOmrak talking about it in TV Shows). He said he dont focus in trainning much but spend 7 nights struggle to find the way to counter Namkabuan most famous move "Tai Na" and finally he found it. And the result it make Somrak win that match by points. But sadly no footage for this match can be found. And Somrak didnt mention in detail how he can counter tai na. I can only found some few muaythai fans talking that this fight really existed and Somrak really win (coz some muaythal fans dont believe this fight really exist and also dont believe Somrak can beat Namkabuan).

I think It seems to be the game after Namkabuan retirement. perhaps 130 lbs match?
Somrak,Samart 126lbs weight class suitable for him. 4pound catch weight match?
On TH-cam he lost a lot in the games I saw. wangjan noi, oley, sakmongkol, ...
      266-15 Can not believe it.
I guess it would have been more than 15 times since I became a member of Lumpinee stadium

Wow if you think about it Nam's like an evolved Knee Specialist who has a great overall game in hands and feet.
He plows and charges forward with a confidence and aggression like a normal knee fighter looking to engage a clinch but he's so versatile and smart and has those reflexes to be a pure technician.
What a combination of a great fighter!

holy hell his stamina looks amazing. Nothing better then witnessing this. I could never match my stamina with his, what the hell does he do to have those explosive punches in the middle of a fight? that amount of stamina should be illegal because of how deadly it is.

I grew up watching Namkabuan and saw how he transformed from an average fighter with brute force to a combination of power+craft which no one could match. He got so unbeatable he had to retire, since Muay Thai is a gamble-oriented sport, if no one can beat you then you won't get booked.

He was great with knee strike too. Unfortunately, He died at age 48 in April 2021 by lung cancer. (In fact, he didn't even smoke!)
    .
His wife and two daughters were shocked, He's too young to die. Rest in peace Mr. Namkabuan

great insights and I absolutely love your videos...that said, the hand fighting while charging technique seems to work well with thai fighters but can get sometimes get exposed by superior boxing...see as an example how thongchai got knocked out by murthel groenhart in glory while charging forward to knee using what looked like similar charging technique
