Dieselnoi Chor Thanasukarn is one of the biggest legends in Muay Thai. He was a knee specialist that captured the prestigious Lumpinee Stadium title and held onto it for 4 years, obliterating the division, and forced to retire when there were no oppositions left.

Anyone who beats Samart deserves respect....but with those Knees, Deiselnoi deserved pure fear. It's no surprise nobody wanted to fight him. Definitely the best fighter of the 70's.

He is the unbeatable legend.
No fat, no muscle, pure hard bone with big lung, stone chin. His stamina is like hell. He will kick kick kick, moving forward grasp the neck and knee all 5 rounds, non stop.
At 1.88 m. tall with only 57-60 kg, he is indeed the killing skeleton. Below 70 Kg, no one can beat him.
Actually, he has a great defense technique by using front kick, muay Thai kick and knee in combination;
When stay outside, his long leg will stop his opponent to get in. This make punch become ineffective.
When coming inside, he will grasp the neck at his reach and harshly pull to make them lost balance and also protect from elbow and short punch.
He is the fighting robot, the real unbeatable fighter.

SURAPONG TANGTARATORN there’s no way he could have been 60 kg. That’s 142 lbs at 6’2. Even being that skinny he had to be atleast 75 kg.
Dieselnoi inspired me when I was younger. He showed me that my size (2.00 m, 93 kg) and my long lanky limbs could be a great advantage , and that I could reach other peoples head easily with my knees and elbows. Also, when you re bigger and you clinch or hold, you can rest your weight on the other person and it gets them tired. Oh I love khao Muay Thai so much. Saludos de Buenos Aires, Argentina
his high guard and lead hand range lets him stifle a lot of power punches as well. he can just extend it to the power hand of the opponent and stuff them before they can throw it. he used this with samart a lot. even in MMA you see guys like mcgregor use this technique a lot. once the knees start landing, the power from the opponent's cross starts to go down and their legs become weaker as well. samart reduced his kicks a lot in the later rounds of that fight, I think it's due to the work of those knees on his body.

As part Laotian I have family members and family friends into fighting or who fought for a while to.make money. I have always romantacized about fighting Muay Thai and aspired to be like Diesel Noi and Samart.
However, when I tried to research them was the time of Kazaa, Limewire and such, and videos of fights nearly impossible to find.
This is the first time I have seen him in action.
I never knew he was so aggressive!
I knew he ridiculously tall, but was aware how adept he was at utilizing his height and reach advantage.
His arms are so long that he is able to close his elbows and lock them in his notorious clinch.
The clinch's weakness is the uppercut, but with his elbows locked in front and pointed downwards, it is nearly impossible to get an uppercut on him.
Of course, a locked clinch would leave the body open to blows, which I am sure he accounts for.
But I think he is willing to take a hit or two set up to drive his knees into his opponent knowing that will stop when his knees land.
His opponents hit, but that vicious knee makes them become defensive. They try to push block his knees away or curl up.
Terrible idea when the knees are literally hitting you with the force of a wrecking ball. To that effect, it just leaves the opponent open to his barrage of knees that would jostle every bone in your body.
Well, if you cannot block, a sweep can end a clench...
However, I notice that in the clinch, he leans forward and keeps his support leg far back, just outside the range of smaller people's legs.
You could try body blows, but trading punch for knee not a great idea. A nasty combination to devastating effect.
Straight art blocking would just be plowed through, and you risk breaking your arms.
I don't see a lot of fighters do this, but a well timed, downward point of the elbow into the middle of the quads as they try to knee will stop those knees quick.
However, Diesel's closed elbows make it nearly impossible for the opponet see the attack to block.

I have to come back and watch this every once in a while to remind myself how great this guy was and how great this technique is, and how well worth training.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone else generating that much power with knees before. Its partly due to his physiology (long limbs) and partly due to superior technique, both in his delivery (actual strike) and his set-up (clinch work). But the combination of both is absolutely devastating. I don't need a meter to know the amount of force he is generating is off the charts. If you took a clean shot from one of his knees to the solar plexus, it could easily stop your heart.

He practiced push kick(teep) with wooden pole every day.
There is one person daring to fight with him and defeated him twice, his name is Wicharnnoi porntawee who is 163 cm but used his tactics with leg kicks and uppercut as well as hold Dieselnoi at his waist til Dieselnoi cannot knee him.
Dieselnoi...surgically using killer knees to re-arrange the opponent's internal organs (and turning those organs into mush).
Amazing stuff this.

Wow, You'd think a fighter of his height would stay out of range, with long lanky arms & legs and just "stick n move" . But Dieselnoi is a fighter that wants to get so close on you, to basically smother your ability to strike and just force feed you those knees until you melt onto the floor.
Yes true most of the times we got teached that taller guy with longer reach and legs should be keeping the distance, i thnik someone who is taller could be any type of fighter grappler/wrestler anything
@@adamloopy8487 Most close-in fighting is terrible for a tall fighter, but Dieselnoi looked huge compared to some he fought against ... so for him he made range not matter so much. While for his opponents, range mattered a lot -- they couldn't get in or they would face his knees even if they were still at middle range, if they got in close he would still knee them around the sides, and if they stayed at distance he could still kick them.

Tall fighters are deadly with knees. A good tall guy knows to use their height to punish short guys rushing in by kneeing the fuck out of them.

In my opinion, Muay Thai is mastered when user owns either knees or elbows strikes like this. This means he got a soul for war - originally beast's soul, trained, brutal and rage, fighting to kill, not to win. So, when you meet an extremely aggressive Muay guy who loves knee or elbow strike more than anything else, you yield.
Old-school fighters are all too dangerous...

i have never trained professionally but i hit the heavy bag of my father from time to time and my favorite exercise was knee strikes. Don't know why but they felt natural to do because it's easy, fast, strong and you don't see it coming but when I watch UFC matches nobody utilized it often so I thought it's ineffective. I mean you can hit the body, the head and even the opponents leg during a upper body clich, also you can consecutively hit multiple times in a very short time. It also seems difficult to block a knee attack.

i've been looking into the way he throws knees lately, and watching this, i noticed in these fights i noticed Alistair Overeems knees look very similar, a guy who is also well known for murderous knees, so definitely something to that style of knee
I was wondering about opposite stances via long guard. Is it better to use long guard at an angle in that scenario or just double stiff arm the long guard or just do it regularly. We're confused at the gym about this because we're worried about the stereotypical counters for opposite stance opponents.
Man, you realize quickly why no one wanted to fight him and he was forced to retire. You don’t want to stay at a distance because he naturally has the range advantage by far but if you get close he clinches you and makes you eat knees. Imo a kicker like samkor would have the best chance of taking him down.

Bruce Lee style is meant to beat all styles and is foundation of mixed martial arts and he has beaten multiple Muay Thai fighters and masters of different martial and street fighters do your research cuz he is the biggest legend mind body and soul

I do agree, it gets really annoying with everyone riding Bruce Lee's nutsack even though he's never had a proper, professional fighting record. HOWEVER, he is the godfather of MMA and said the best fighter would be a wrestler who could also use western boxing. That prediction came true. But him as a fighter? Never truly tested.
Every note worthy martial artist of this generation uses Lee's philosophy IN combat sports. And people need to stop taking the word of armchair martial artists that Bruce Lee wasnt even a martial artist, especially when martial artist far greater than them or I (Joe Lewis, Chuck Norris, Mike Stone) refer to his abilities. so what if the majority of his fights are anecdotal, he is revered and spoken for by martial artist of his time(save Vic Moore, go figure.) and his philosophy is tested.

No, they fought twice and Sagat lost on points both times. Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittu - has worked with both legends (extensively with Dieselnoi) and they both confirmed this.
Muay Thai fighters have a lot of losses, because A: they always face the best and biggest competition, and B: they have so freakin many fights, because they start training and fighting so young.

I believe he was forced into retirement haha. He didn't have a choice. But he made a decent career representing the sport outside of his own country.
I think he was at the maximum for Thais. I don't think there is really enough people in Thailand over 165 lbs in order to have a competitive division. I doubt he could lose much weight and go down a division either. He had to retire because everyone was scared shitless of him lol
