    I bought my daughter a 2005 white convertable with the 4l V6 in 2014 still runs great.
    I just bought the car that I have wanted for ever 2002 cherry red with light gray interior convertable GT custom. Nothing less than Beautiful! The top didn't work when I got it, it would go down but would not budge going up. I was told " the motor is getting weak" I bought a replacement motor and dug into it. When I got to the motor, it was empty,I poped the plug filled it up with the proper ATF now it works great for $7.00 and 2 hours. I probably buy another Red convertable before long but these are beautiful little toys I love mine!

      Nice, those 4.0 V6 motors are really long lasting too I heard, agreed on that red with grey interior, sharp combo, good to know about adding atf to the convertible top motor too, glad you saved it❤️

    Bought my daughter a 2001 3.8 mustang - for graduation in 2020. It had 180,000 on it - She's now got 240,000 on it - Best darn car I ever bought! Very dependable and reliable. She drives 200 mile trips back and forth from college a few times a year! ❤ it! I highly recommend - will probably buy another - Eat it Honda Toyota owners! So SICK of the HONDA MYTH!

      Nice! You're absolutely right, they sure do last lol. I have had better luck with these and Toyota's than Honda's personally. Had a 2014 Corolla but it was so sluggish and slow to accelerate, good car and all but the Mustang is so much more fun, amd different than the rest of the pack.

      @@Feral80sKid My point is: It's a MYTH not fact - that Honda Toyota is better than American these days. That MYTH started in the 1980's, and persists even though the FACTS have changed since the 1980's I own dodge, chev, and Ford Mustang and they ALL are over 200,000 - (mustang needed less than the other two tho as far as maintenenace)

    No word of a lie. I bought one of these new in 2001 and I put 422,000 kms (262,000 miles) on it until some joyriding teens ran into me and totalled it in 2012. It looked like a car with less than 100,000 kms on it as I meticulously looked after it. It ran great too. It was a super reliable car. Without a doubt, there was no other 2001 Mustang like it on the planet that was in such great condition (inside and out) with so many miles on it.

    Lol the weird stuff TH-cam recommends sometimes. I have a '99 Mustang v6 as my daily. Same silver metallic color but mine is really old and tired. Paint and lights are all faded from the Texas sun and the suspension creaks like crazy. It does have the 5-speed and I actually just put a new clutch on it at just over 200,000 miles. I love that the engine bay has lots of room to work. A few weeks ago I put on a new water pump too and room wasn't an issue. That power steering pulley on the other hand...

Was the k&n cold air intake, rear swaybar I found on Ebay for $50 I think shipped, it can be from any 94-04 Mustang, it'll bolt right up. Try to find one with the bolts already in it, and highly recommend Eibach pro kit springs, I put some Koni shocks on it too, helped a lot.👍

    I'll admit. Im not a huge Mustang fan. I just dont really care for Ford in general. I will say though, a good friend of mine had and still had one of these thats a convertible. I've been in the backseat on all these interstates with big oh bridges here in Jacksonville Florida and i felt as if i was going to bounce out the backseat going 70-75mph. In a convertible, going over bridges and interstates bouncing up and down and him jerking gears scarring the living crap out of me. Because, i was thinking im gonna just bounce out the back seat. I survived though.😂 But like i said, i never been a fan of these. But, his Mustang was reallly nice. It was Florida sate colors. Top was tan and it had just been repainted a year ago and it looked brand new. The head lights were brand new and sort of a smokey color. I lived there for 4years and the whole time i thought it was a 5.0 and come to find out it's only a V6 with glass packs i beleive. But, u could hear that thing a mile away coming home. You could here it start up early in the morning and you could here that thing purr. I loved that car. It sounded bad azz! Still does. Dark dark cherry red, with blacked out tint and black 18in rims. The exaust on the back are loud! He said that car was one of his most dependable cars he's ever had other than the Toyota Corolla S that he drives normally on a daily basis. So, i do like certain mustangs. And of course it all depends on how they run and look. But, yes not my biggest style in taste of cars.

    Hello, I definitely want one of these 99-04 Mustangs as a daily. I would get the GT with a 5 speed manual. I have a question, I was wondering the reliability of these cars considering that they are over the 20 year old mark. I would find one with under 100,000 miles with no rust and in good condition. I will garage keep it. I will however drive it sometimes multiple times a day and of course through some mild to moderate snowy conditions. I just had to ask if its a dependable daily that I can trust to get me to school and work considering its age. Thank you for finalizing my decision, MW

    • @Feral80sKid
      @Feral80sKid  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No prob, glad the video helped you. I did have an 01 GT convertible, 5 speed manual. Like you said, rust free is definitely key. They can be bad for rust, not the best in snow, highly recommend snow tires in winter/keep tank AT LEAST half full. Definitely reliable if maintained too. When looking at one I always check oil dipstick/look inside oil cap and see if oil is burned on anywhere, if so don't buy any car like that. Otherwise if everything works, runs/drives good, no funny noises etc go for it:)

    • @ThePower1037
      @ThePower1037 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My brother's is exactly what you're looking for, a few things to note is that the manual's 2nd gear syncro is crunchy from the factory, the clutch goes around 100k depending on the type of driver/environment; the diff, transmission, and engine all leak due to the early 2000s seals, and the car is horrible in the snow. It could be a daily, but for your money you should buy a car you wouldn't love, save your money, and then get a "keeper".

    I bought an almost like new 2003 Zinc Yellow 3.8 V6 (I like pushrod engines, not a fan of the 4.0 in the 2005 and up) a couple years ago, with 57,000 miles on it. Paid $4200. It's a base model, with only two options I know about, the automatic transmission and a rear deck spoiler. Cloth seats and base AM/FM/CD. The only thing I did was to replace the oversize wheels with 15" wheels from a 2000 model, so I could use normal size tires. Not a fan of the huge ghetto wheel look. Not interested in either power or handling. It's a daily driver/commuter that doesn't look like all the modern garbage on the road.

      You said it perfect! Agreed on the pushrod engine, I now drive a 91 RS Camaro daily, has the 305, simple and reliable, definitely agree on the wheels too lol. It is cool to be different from the herd driving all the boring cars you see 20 times a day, couldn't agree more:). Sounds like a nice car, looked for that yellow color as well for mine but couldn't find one, good looking color on these. Car will last a long time, get good mileage and plenty of pickup for a daily👍 Good comment from a like minded driver🤝

      As far as performance or aesthetic? The rear swaybar is pretty easy, along with k&n cold air intake, could do some msd wires and coil packs, that's pretty easy, as well as bigger throttle body or spacer, lightweight battery.

    with only 31k miles it doesn't really qualify an opinion of dependable and easy to work on, fords natural better idea ineptitude doesn't usually start making an appearance until after 60k miles, that's when fords become fords...

      Lol, well I do drive a 91 Camaro RS daily now, dad worked for GM for 30 years so I do lean that way, like all kinds of cars though. The V6 in these can last like a Toyota, had a 2000 Mustang with the same motor, had over 150k miles and still ran great. But don't get me started on Fords, let's just say I've had more problems with them than any other, besides these 99-04 V6 Stangs at least.

Now this condition kinda blows mine away. I need some advice on where to start to upgrade a bit. Ik it def needs a cold air. I already looked into that. Whats a good 1,2,3 for me to start?

    • @Feral80sKid
      @Feral80sKid  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      First thing I'd do is brake, coolant and transmission fluid flush and see how your spark plugs look. Definitely do a GT rear swaybar, make sure it comes with bolts, easy mod, literally bolts to trailing arms, you'll like the handling improvement, k&n cold air intake and remove spare tire/jack if you live close to work/school for less weight. Get a TransGo shift kit too, quicker shifts, transmission will last much longer and you'll put a bit more power to the ground. Later on do a GT posi rear axle with at least 3.54 gears, and some bbk shorty headers/tune. Btw congrats on getting it, they're pretty cool cars.
