You made some incredible points and gave a lot of practical opinions I hadn't heard/seen before. I like your train of thought when it comes to modifying the sn95's, I would like to point out that I think subframe connectors are important for convertibles. Yes they have the x-brace on the front end and the chassis is much stiffer than the foxbody's, but it still flexes quite a bit being a unibody, you can see it when half of the car is on jack stands. If you try to open and close the doors on the convertible while lifted, the doors often won't close due to that flex. Great video editing by the way.
Ive been working on a 95 gt i bought last year for 1k.. not a spec of rust under it.. The obd1 ecu reader aint bad u can even run balance test.. its actually better than obd2 reader once u learn how to use it And the power difference between the 95 302 pushrod to the 281 modular is noticable, ive owned multiple mustangs
Great SN95 Mustang video. These are the underrated under appreciated underdogs of Mustangs that get overlooked all the time. They are actually a great value and reliable as well.
Really great review, have owned a couple of these generation vehicles and their fun and overall easier to modify. Unfortunately today with the 50 plus computers on mustangs and other vehicles its overkill. The prices are outrageous. Again great info.!
Awesome video! Pretty much all of that info was valuable. I’m about to get some gears for my 99 cobra and really been on the edge about 4.10 gears or 4.30. I think 4.10 is definitely going to be the sweet spot for me.
Had a 2004 my ex totaled back in 2009. I’m 46 married with three kids, I’m not trying to road race everybody. Gonna pick up a new edge here soon because I love how those 2v sound. Nice to row the gears and not be going 150
Very nice! A couple of things, here. My 99 Cobra 'vert, Rio Red, has only a K&N and a Pro 5.0 Shifter. No gears or other mods. My 03 Cobra 'vert, black, has an MGW shifter, K&N, a Centerforce dual friction clutch and 3.73 gears. The 3.73 gears are a great upgrade. The gas mileage hasn't changed, but it is more responsive. I have custom billet pulleys, but stock size, so it is just something for looks. I had a couple of the stock pulleys fail, so I figured that I would upgrade to something better. The original radio is basically scrap. The changer failed, which happens to a lot of them. I still have it, but I upgraded to an Eclipse system years ago and it is excellent. The 99 has the original CD/cassette player. Stock exhaust on both. I drive my 12 Premium, which is only a V6, with a stick, most of the time. It is what I drive on vacation, back and forth to the east coast, to keep the mileage down on the Cobras. An excellent video and good advice, for those who want to upgrade their Mustangs. Me, I like them just the way they are.
@ We had two, when I was growing up in the sixties and I’ve loved them ever since. Mine will be going to my Grand Nephews after a few more years. I’m 67, so probably when I’m in my mid-seventies. We’ll see, when the time comes..
I agree with keeping Cobras the way they are. I have a 98, not even a Terminator and im doing an Unmod build to it. Just like how you said, I want it to look just like how it did on the brochure.

Great Video Thanks. My New Edge is a 2v. I enjoy cruising it around. Man does it get attention like no other. Stock except Flow Masters and Headers. Early 4.6 w/pi heads.
Take care of it, most owners don't. It's funny because when they were new, they were everywhere and underappreciated. You didn't see as many as you do Coyote now but similar. Now that half of them are in the junkyard and you barely see them, they turn heads. I guess that's the way it goes. 94-95 v6 mustangs were also OBDII. Just wanted to mention it, because it always bothered me when people refused to use their scan tool on it. 96 OBDII was mandatory on all cars, but that doesn’t mean earlier vehicles did not have these computers. Of course, v6 mustangs, despite their production numbers, seems to have become much more rare than the v8s.
Sn95/new edges are the only cars I actually wanna own/drive until death lol, idk why but 94-98 will always be my favorite especially since the car was unveiled 2 years before I was born in the month I was born haha
The 94-94 came with 2.73s standard, and 3.08s optional. Th 96-98 GTs also came with 2.73s standard, and 3.27s optional. New Edge’s all came with 3.27s standard. All Mach’s came with 3.55s standard. Ford was always playing with the gear ratios, especially on the earlier years. Thanks for watching! 👊👊
What made the terminator great was how awesome it was w simple mods. Its far from a perfect factory car. Saying dont mod it kind of defeats the point in having a terminator to begin with. What they could do w mods is what made them sought after from the start.
Very true, it all depends how much of a hit your willing to take when the time comes to sell. The Convertible Terminator in the video sold for this high amount because it had the original air cleaner/filter. If it were modified, the price would’ve been at least $25k less.. This is how the collector car market works: Few are willing to pay big $$$ for someone else vision of cool/fast.. unless it’s a famous builder or Ford itself.
One correction. The modulars have a different firing order than the 302. I actually had to double check lol. but yeah, most 302 have the old school Ford order, that the 385 series had (429, 460), and the 351C, M, 400 etc The 351W shares the firing order of the modulars 4.6, 5.4. Thats the 13726548 The 302 that does share this firing order is the 302 HO, or the 5.0 HO. I may be off on some of the details (like variant between 302s. I think there was a different order for the 4 bolt main-ed 302s) but its weird. Gets even more weird when you look at Hemis, that share the same 154 timing order, but count them differently (no wonder I love the new Hemi sound lol)
What’s up man! The video is accurate, but I see your confusion. The firing order changed in 1982-83, this also changed the sound in a big way. So all 5.0’s in Mustangs after 83 have the same firing order as the newer modular engines. The sound is LEGENDARY! 😎🚀🚀

I love your videos. Over stating on tasteful mods. Too many people buy these cars and “race car” them out…..destroying the amount of fun you can have with them. I have a 2003 10th anniversary cobra. Love it…just has an exhaust system on it…that’s it. I also have a 13 GT500 and a 93 cobra. I have so much more fun in the 93 cobra due to the much lower levels of hp. You can bang three or even 4 gears in it without killing yourself or getting arrested. The GT500 is cool….but too long of gears and too much power to rev it out in a couple gears before you are going triple digit speeds. The 2003 cobra gets a lot of attention.
It's usually young guys that go full "race car". Most 94-04 Mustangs end up looking horridly ugly because of it. You can have a ton of fun in these without making 500hp, no need to do that I agree. The usual bolt-ons, tune, 4.10 gears will allow you to keep up with most of the modern offerings on the street, the sn95 are very light weight in comparison. I prefer the "OEM+" tasteful modifications, make your vision for your car become reality while making it more fun and safer to drive.
That’s easily pushing over 450bhp on a light car. I would stick with 3.55s, otherwise traction becomes a massive issue(slower). If you’re running slicks, you can go to 4.10s for maximum acceleration(but worse handling).
An LSX swap would be crazy! 🚀🚀 But nooo traction. From my experience, anything over 700bhp is waisted because of traction issues….slicks help a bit. I’ve seen a few people install 4-wheel drive on their Fox’s, I think it can definitely be done on SNs!!! 💯💯👊👊
The mach was alot different they dyno 20 hp higher stock easily and they have more low and mid range too in adition to the better stock gears. Its a huge misconception thale 96-98 cobra and 03 mach had the same engine because theyre rated the same hp stock they arent the same they have different heads intake cams everything is different.
It’s the same architecture that came in the original Lincoln Mark 8. A new intake/intake/tune does not make it a different engine. The theoretical 20hp bump also does not equate to a one-second drop in the quarter mile, the updated gears do….410 gears would’ve been even better! 🚀🚀🚀
I wouldn't trust a $40 shifter's metal or construction, usually the reason products cost more despite being made overseas is they're made to a higher standard. The same production factory can produce several products of varying quality depending on the blueprint of the product. The Triax definitely isn't for everyone, it's "notchy" and loud for daily street use. There's smoother options out there for less money I agree.
Aluminum... drive shaft??? You lost an extreme amount of credibility there. Aluminum is the KRYPTONITE of cars, especially Mustangs. Water DESTROYS anything Aluminum, and your drive shaft is completely exposed to it if you drive daily, or even during or after rain. To have a drive shaft made of it is absolutely INSANE!!!! Water practically disintegrates hot Aluminum. That's a FACT.
@HernanSpeed I appreciate the nice way of rebuking me, I really do. To many people get too wound up when disagreeing. I'll look into that particular part again, but I know that '05-'10 Mustangs (which are my favorite body styles) had stock aluminum hoods that bubble and deteriorate so bad they make aftermarket hoods made of better metal. Also, the tops of a lot of Ford motors are aluminum now, and if you get them wet when hot, they create divits in the metal. One of my first cars was a 74 Vega that had passed through my Mom, an Uncle, and Aunt. The only reason it was still running over 16 years later was because my uncle had steel sleeves put in the aluminum block (I'm thinking that's when they first tried it in blocks?) Anyway, those are the reasons for my issues with making a drive shaft out of it. Otherwise, I do enjoy your content, and own an '03 myself. While I was a bit dramatic with my initial commitment, I hope you didn't take it personally. Thanks again for responding so well 😊
Yes, it’s called Aluminum Oxide. It leaves a white powdered residue, it destroys the paint because it bubbles it up. This happens in lots of cars, the newer F150’s is a good example. But no structural damage happens to the aluminum like if it were steal. The driveshafts are a safe place to go aluminum, lower rotating mass & stronger. But on body panels…like you say, it’s a massive liability 💯💯. Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
@@eclipsetheraindanbutler2478 That is a problem with the way Ford did their hoods. The seal around the hood is bad and it starts bubbling around the edge.. The aluminum is fine. I've had my 03 and 12 redone. There is a Technical Bulletin out for those cars.

Those triax shifters are way overpriced. After trying a 40$ ebay one ill never buy triax again. Mgw however is next level.
Most shifters are great when new, but things can change after a few years of banging on them. Sounds like you got one of the good ones! 💪
I really like the MGW in my 03 Cobra 'vert. It is flawless and solid as a rock. My 99 has a Pro 5.0 and it is quite fine, also.
Who said foxbody!?🙂↔️
Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
Aluminum... drive shaft??? You lost an extreme amount of credibility there. Aluminum is the KRYPTONITE of cars, especially Mustangs. Water DESTROYS anything Aluminum, and your drive shaft is completely exposed to it if you drive daily, or even during or after rain. To have a drive shaft made of it is absolutely INSANE!!!! Water practically disintegrates hot Aluminum. That's a FACT.
Friend, it’s probably a good idea for you to do some research on this.. Thanks for watching 👊👊
The only reason it was still running over 16 years later was because my uncle had steel sleeves put in the aluminum block (I'm thinking that's when they first tried it in blocks?)
Anyway, those are the reasons for my issues with making a drive shaft out of it.
@@HernanSpeed Axle Exchange probably makes the best aluminum drive shafts. Super durable and a lot of drag racers use them.
