While the 2V isn’t powerful, it’s extremely reliable making for an amazing daily driver. These cars have recently benefited immensely from improved technology in suspension and engine building
@@ExoPhazturbos are highly overrated. They have lag that only builds power up high and they create tons of heat lowering the life of any engine. A centrifugal supercharger is the way to go. A nice Paxton would have it screaming and it's instant power from the time you blip the throttle. Plus when done right it won't reduce engine life nearly as much as a turbo.
@@Jcpygo that's not true at all. That's completely opposite of the truth. The exhaust having to go through the turbine creates lots of heat and there's no way around it. A proper centrifugal supercharger an a engine runs way longer. And real street guys will tell you that. The turbo guys and roots guys are always parked cooling off while the centrifugal guys run back to back all Day. You're just going off nonsense you've seen online. Not real experience because I've had all boost setups. And lots of my friends have to. And everyone else. It's common knowledge among the true cars guys.
I own an '04 GT manual with 119k miles and had to replace a cracked intake manifold even with the revised "PI headers" recently. Super reliable car otherwise, and one of the best sounding V8's to this day.
My wife and I recently purchased a mint condition 1999 SVT Cobra convertible 5 speed red with 2,600 miles. we can't wait to start enjoying it in summer of 2023.
same. had an 04 v6 and it never let me down. drifting in winter, took it to drag strip a couple times for fun, constanly redlined it and never had to do anything other than regular maintenance. at one point my family had 10 cars total and there were times that was the only car running lol
For this era/generation, my favorite and car of choice would be the 1998 Cobra. Love the hood design, the round fog lights, and vertical tail lights! A coworker managed to recently track one down, which was quite an achievement!
I own a 2001 convertible in laser red that still has a beautiful shine. I added a chin spoiler and billet grille. No garage but it is always covered. It only has 69k miles. I drove it today. It only moves on sunny days because I have a truck for bad weather.
lol,,Sounds like you have the same car as me,, mines has 101 thousand Kilometers,,,I just use it for car shows now,, back window is leaking so I have to replace the back window when it comes out of storage,,
I had a 2004 5 speed 3.9 liter. It had a lot of work done to the engine and tuned. Unfortunatly a bus was speeding and went through red last year and hit me. The only problem with that was the module 1 switch was open. I now own a 2004 3.9 liter automatic its not anywhere near as fast but Im planning on updating it.
Iv owned both a black 99 Cobra and a 2003 Azure Blue Mach 1 I personally like the look of the Mach 1 more, looks mean especially if it had the 99-01 front bumper but I love the cobra hoods on GT’s personally I dislike the big honky hood scoop on the GT’s I like the V6 hood more to be honest but they still look beautiful.
I just bought a 1996 Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible. 21,000 original miles one owner. Black with tan saddle leather interior . The car looks and smells like a brand new car. I am extremely happy with my new purchase and I think the car is put together very well. I’ve been a Camaro Owner my entire life but I’ve always liked the Ford Mustang because it’s smaller lighter and handles a lot better then the Camaros of this generation.
I'm sorry but I've driven both and I gotta call b.s. on that one. You have a really good car and it definitely is beautiful but as far as handling and power, not so much
I've owned a '94 convertible for the last 6 years. We bought it with only 76,000 mi on it. It has a 3.8 l V6 engine with an automatic transmission. The only problem it had was a water pump gasket leak. I don't overuse it or abuse it. 1000 to 2000 mi a year is the max we ever drive it. It doesn't see snow, very little rain, and is stored indoors at all times. It's just our fun, getaway car and it has been great to own.
I’ve own my 1994 since 1998. It originally was a 3.8 V6. It did blow the head gasket, as mentioned, in 2000. There apparently was a recall (now since expired) and Ford reimbursed us for the part and labor. If you buy one with over 100k miles, odds are good that it has been replaced as part of that recall, and longevity of the faulty gasket. I put 168k miles on the v6, until 2008, when we swapped in the 5.0 v8. It currently has 193k miles on it now, and I get compliments almost every single day I drive it. Just recently, I had a guy tell me that you don’t really see these around anymore. I found this humorous, because, while he was right, I remember when I’d see that car practically everywhere! Same color too!
I have owned two SN95 GTs. 1998 Black and 2000 Performance Red convertible which I still have at 48000 miles. It is in great shape and I love. Great job on this video!
I cannot say how good of a job you did on this video the review the music playing in the background the pictures the production it was all time correct to what you reviewed. What an amazing job. I I fell in love with the new edge as a teen as an older friend owned a mystic blue model. Then a year ago I bought a performance red 98 GT stick. I think this is one of ford's best makes ever they really innovated alot with the sn95
10 year anniversary of owning my 1996 mustang. Still running strong even after driving cross country 4 times and driving it for a living. Totally true about the head gasket blow outs and manifold cracks lol. But it takes a lot for that to happen. I'm most grateful and feel blessed to have this car. Its staying with me forever. Great and informative video BTW. Made me appreciate it even more and I didn't think that was possible. Thanks. 💪🏿🙏🏿
Great video. Good info. I've had several mustang's. 88 5.0, 91 5.0, 2- 96 GTs, 03 GT and now I'm the proud owner of a 03 Mach 1. Foxes are sweet, but the SN and new edge holds a special place in my heart. Next is a 98 cobra!
@@aoclive6710 if I were you I would be picky. A lot of these cars, at least in my area are pretty clapped out. A lot of people didn't take care of them. Find the best example you can for your budget. I've never had a V6 but I hear they are pretty reliable just like the 4.6 if taken care of. I would also find something as stock as you can, preferably adult owned and driven. Check all the fluids, check around the heads for any oil, get under the car and check the oil filter, oil pan and oil pressure sending unit for any oil. Also the air filter. A bad pcv valve on these spit more oil on the filter than you'd think. Make sure when it's started, the engine is cold. If they warm it up prior to you getting there could be a red flag. White exhaust smoke is also a red flag. Stay away. Finally, test drive it for more than a block. Get it warmed up and up to speed. These are great cars when cared for. You won't be disappointed when you find the right one
@@billypike3797 thank you Billy , I will take this to heart . I am not sure when I will have the money to purchase one but when I do I will do these steps and then some so I can enter the STANG GANG . Thanks and have a awesome 2022
Had a 98 gt for 15 years. Port polished heads from a 04 bbk headers, bbk off road x pipe with flowmasters. Bbk intake manifold and 70 mm throttle body ford racing cold air intake and coils with center force clutch. 4:10 gears. And ripper shifter. Loved that car still best sounding car iv ever owned. All that work and it still only made 279 hp and 310 lbft torque at the wheels. Sold it to get a 05 gt stick with a whiple super charger, it's a lot faster but it's just not as raw and the illusion of speed is kind of missing. the kid that bought it from me wrapped it around the telephone pole he's all right but the car was totaled I felt like a friend died.
@ Robert Stone - Re: "Sold it to get a 05 gt stick with a whiple super charger, it's a lot faster but it's just not as raw and the illusion of speed is kind of missing." I agree about the sound of the 4.6L OHV V-8.... I had a guy at my gym who owned a new Corvette at the time, tell me that my 1996 GT sounded better than his car, which cost 4-5x what mine was worth at the time. What is it about these cars which makes them sound so wicked? Mine sounded even better once I put Flowmasters on it. You're very right, too, about the attitude and feel of those cars. I tried to explain the appeal of the SN95 to people by saying that they may not be the fastest cars around, or even close, but they have tons of muscle car attitude and when you get 'em wound up, they "feel" fast. My car was a relative dog down low in the rpm band, but I had a decent gear-ratio set in the manual gearbox, and once I got higher up in the rpm band, the car did OK. That was the trick to squeezing the most out of that engine, drive it like a European car and get those revolutions/minute up. Get into the fat part of the power band. My 2013 Mustang GT is much faster and a better performer in many ways, but I still miss that 1998 sometimes, as illogical as it sounds. I'm looking for a 1996-1998 Cobra hardtop.... once I get it, I'll throw in a Pro-Charger.
I have a 96 Gt - ODO broke on the Prev owner @ 250k . I've replaced most of the emissions system, ignition system (plugs, wires, coils), Radiator, thrmostat. Valve cover gasket, All 4 o2 sensors and Catalytic converters lol Still chasing down a lean condition !! Intake gaskets are next (; Still around 5.5k into it (including purchase) and it runs great other than that last vacuum leak... id say fair deal still!
My first Mustang was a 2001 and I currently have a 98 convertible. Both were absolutely great and a ton of fun to drive, I also really really loved the interior design. I prefer the first iteration of this generation, with the sleek design but the more aggressive New Edge cars look good too
Awesome, I currently have a 1998 v6, 2000 Gt, and 2001 Cobra. I love all of them. Each one has its own personality and different driving charateristics
I've got a 96 V6 that I'm in the process of swapping a 4.2 into. Been sitting for about 10 years or so so I'm still working on getting all the rubber components and such changed. End goal is a new or new looking everything. Even gonna redo the faded clear coat and keep the original paint.
There was a 4.2L variant of the 302 V8 in use from 1981 through the end of 1982. I hope that's not the 4.2L going into your swap. That engine had a terrible performance reputation and was thankfully shortlived in both the 1981 and 1982 Mustangs and T-birds it went into. Your 96 V6 actually made way better power and got better gas mileage.
@@houseofno If I remember correctly it was out of a 97 F150. It was set to be nearly a drop in replacement from what I had surmised at the time, as if memory serves me me right the 4.2 V6 was just a bored out 3.6. Ended up having a son and had to give up on the project indefinitely. Maybe one day I'll start up a project again but with bigger aspirations this time around.
94 caught my attention. Driving a brand new 94 rental from San Diego to San Francisco along hey 1 along the coast was a beautiful and fun drive. I finally bought one last year 2021 a 1994 GT 5.0 soft top. Needs some work to keep it running as is. But I’m planning on restoring it as best I can. Bring it up to a respectful status as the reissue of the original mustang. But instead of faithful restoration, I will make it personal with wheels and tires that I find functional and great looking. Customize as I can find available.
I got the 99 v6 mustang for a first car and I absolutely love it. So much so I got a second one, 2000 v6 manual coupe. Only difference between the two is the transmission. Problems I noticed is the windows don't like to work. And ain't real friendly to gaskets, Weatherstripping, bushings and so on but that is mainly due to age. They do they're best to stay together in one piece to keep pushing despite what they may go through. Word of advice, just be kind and take care of them. They'll reward you.
I have a 1998 SVT Cobra with Ford authorized Steeda suspension, exhaust and cold air intakes modifications. It is a convertible, Laser Red with the Saddle (tan) interior and rag top. I purchased it with 45,000 mile on it in 2011. Engine wise, the intake manifold regulator motor had to be cleaned, (secondary intake manifold valves would not open. The cleaning job lasted a year, then the regulator motor had to be rebuilt lasting 6 more years, then finally died in 2020. I had the intake manifold runner delete modification installed and this resolved the intake manifold valve actuator motor failure. This has boosted the horse power with free flowing air intake at all RPMs and throttle positions but at a cost of lower MPG (hey its a COBRA!). I have twice had to due major tune ups with replacing all the plug wires and coil wires. The exhaust system from behind the cats to the exhaust tips rusted out and were replaced in 2020 with Magnaflo Cat-Back stainless steel tube, a further improvement on the already great exhaust note. The are 85,000+ miles on the engine and I love it. It not the fastest COBRA but it plenty fast enough for me. Suspension wise, I have replaced the front and rear shocks with heavy duty Bilstein shocks and the rear suspension control arms and dampers. The passenger side steering link arm has been replaced. The chrome on steel Cobra rims were replaced due the chrome delaminating causing continual slow air leaks. I replaced them with forged aluminum Cobra style 5 spoke wheels. Tires currently are Michelin Pilot 3. The suspension modifications further improved the handling on tight corners but stiffing things up on the straights. Body and interior issues include the passenger door window regulator had to be replaced at time of purchase. The clear coat began peeling like skin after a bad sunburn, so I had professional car restorer repaint the entire car with the Laser Red paint scheme in 2020. The headlights glazed over badly and were replaced with new lenses, housing and HID lights when the paint job was done. The rear trunk struts have been replaced. I currently am having the rag top replaced and the driver seat leather/vinyl upholstery and seat foam replaced. The remaining upholstery and foams are in great shape as I drive it mostly solo. The elevation mode of the electric seat control has failed but it is the position I want (lowest position for my 6 ft frame) and the fore-aft control still works, so I have not messed with replacing or repairing it. So I am very happy with my 23 year old COBRA, that gives me more smiles per mile because I don't have any payments, and it harkens back to the 1964-65 Mustang body style and size. I actual got to ride in a 64 Mustang convertible at the 1964 World Fair in NY introduction. I fell in love with it as an 8 year old kid, and new some day I would get one. Ford started making them too big, then too small (the Pinto based Mustang II), then too boxy (Fox body), when the 94-98 SN95 came out, oooh I was smitten but was not in a position to buy one then. The 1999-2004 New Edge body style was too angular for my taste. The 2005 model line came out and look similar to the original Mustang but was too big (rented one, did not like it). So when I finally decided to get my dream car, I did a nationwide search, and found the ONLY Laser Red Cobra with the Saddle (tan) interior and tan top (only one was made, plenty Laser red) and the gent and I came to an amenable agreement on the price (a third of what it would have costed me if I had bought it new in 1998), I flew to Florida, and dove it back to Texas with my 20 y/o son who was ear to ear grinning as much as the old man, with the top down and the Mach stereo cranked up playing CDs and cassettes all the way home! 10 years later, I still grinning! BTW, have you seen the price of a new COBRA Mustang?!!!
I had a ‘98 V6 5 speed manual in red. I got dual flow masters installed and it sounded amazing. It was my first mustang and I loved it. I always wanted the GT, but at 20 years old, insurance was too expensive. I had a lot of fun with that car.
You forgot the gts. It was like a lx. It was a stripper model aimed at the weekend warriors. Mechanically it was a gt with the 5.0 v8. It used the interior of base model that included cloth non power seats, manual windows and locks. Exterior was also base without fog lights or rear spoiler. There were only 6370 made with 4848 getting the t-5 and 1522 getting the aode. It was only in coupe for the 95 model year.
Owned a 2001 GT convertible premium. Warranty replacement of automatic transmission at 5k miles. It was my fun car. Got married and bought a house. DD was failing apart so traded it in for a luxury sport sedan. 16 years later got a 2019 GT vert. It’s so much better 200+ more HP, cooled seats, better handling.
I have a ‘97 Cobra. The only issues I’ve had are grinding from the 1-2 shift, regardless of heavy or light throttle, but it’s possible the shift stops may need adjustment. It’s kind of a shame that the T45 trans is so similar to the T5 in that from the factory the Cobra is already putting out close to the max amount of power these things can handle. Other than that the only other thing I had to fix was a bad IAC valve. Pretty reliable car!
I have an 03 v6. It sat in junkyard for a while and I bought it off a kid who drove it like a monster truck (off-roading) wasn’t running when I bought it off him. I’ve replaced just about everything in the front suspension and everything mounted on the engine including the entire cooling system. Now that it’s in decent shape, I have to say it is easily my favorite car that I’ve ever owned. P.S. don’t replace your power steering if it’s noisy. It will always be noisy. Only replace it if you don’t have any power steering. Literally the loudest power steering pump I’ve ever heard lol
Best agreed. I have a triple black 00gt with a single turbo on an other wise all stock mustang. Only 50k+ newer sports cars can keep up. Driving it every day still and I love it.
Several months ago, I put in a silly bid on an auction site for a '99 35th anniversary V6 convertible. Imagine my surprise when I get the email saying I won the car. Since then, I have been restoring it as a winter project. In spite of it's rough cosmetic condition, it is in unusually good mechanical condition and has no signs of any structural issues. The car is currently being painted and will have new leather, carpet, top, etc.,etc... Just in time for the Spring and Summer!
I own a crystal white 99 new edge 35th anniversary convertible with the 3.8 v6. Just broke 100k original miles. Been driven for 19 years by original owner who bought new at 72 years old. The only problem I have had was the harmonic balancer needed to be replaced and the A/C drain port needed to be modified so as not to drip its frigid water onto extremely hot exhaust. Getting ready to spend around 2k to have its original convertible top replaced as it leaks in left and right corner. Also have this odd vibration at 35 to 45 mph have not figured that out yet. It is a great car. Very fun to drive.
Love my 2001 DHG Bullitt!! Bought her new in Sept. 2001 and am now at 135,000 miles! Now that she'll be twenty next month, I have embarked on a thorough refreshing, from the ground up, to keep her at least another twenty. Trying to keep her as stock as possible, but I'm switching the clutch quadrant out to the Ford Racing aluminum quadrant in conjunction w/ their firewall adjuster and a new, oem clutch cable for better reliability and performance. Next up may be a complete suspension & steering rack bushings change out......
Bought my 02 GT new, loved it then and still love it today. With simple mods like drop springs, Koni shocks, rear control arms, cold air intake, intake elbow, cat back, and a tuner, they run and handle great.
My 2003 Mustang GT 5 speed: CAI, 75 mm throttle body plenum, under drive pullies, off-road x- pipe with flowmasters, 4.10 racing gears, 285 rear staggered wheels with Koni shocks and struts, with rear tower brace. My car is surprisingly quick and I love it.
I had a 2000 Spring Edition GT- loved it!! I kept it as a daily driver for 15 years and drove over 275k miles on the orginal engine with basic bolt ons. The 4.6 was a solid engine even if the power is half what my 2020 GT/CS 5.o is running currently. I still say my 4.6 had a better sound with a bassani x pipe and American Thunder Flowmaster mufflers.
I have 2001 Bullitt with 270K miles, BBK Short Heaters, BBK Off/Road X-Pipe and Flomasters Cat-Back. No a fast car for nowadays, but a lot of FUN to drive.
HAVE A 2002 GT COUPE 5 SPD TRANS ONLY DRIVEN TO CAR SHOWS ! ORIGINAL OWNER AND CONDITION WITH 9,300 MILES ON IT ONLY PROBLEMS WERE THE STARTER AND FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED ! HAD THIS CAR SINCE NEW KEPT GARAGED AND COVERED.
@@houseofno The mustang concept looks very much like the Taurus of that decade. Ford uses similar design styles throughout the entire lineup of vehicles, especially from the mid-seventies on. It's evident today as well. Obviously the final design of the mustang was much different than the Taurus of the same period, but that makes sense since the mustang should stand out among other vehicles.
I got a 95 gts coupe manual in laser red:) with 30 lb injectors, tune, explorer intake, heads and suspension done. I really like that car, and the ford windsor makes an awsome rumble. I had some issues with the radiator fan motor and the ac which is switched off currently. Really cool car to start with, parts are cheap and you get tons of support. Never forget you are preserving a dying breed of car. Front V8, manual, rwd!
30lb injectors are way to much for a stock 5.0. unless you got a supercharger that's overkill big time. 21lb would be more than enough even if you had all the bolt on's and some extras like a bigger throttle body, ported intake , and some head work. Now if you combined all that with a bigger stage two cam then yea you'd need more fuel
I was a teenager when Ford almost did away with the RWD Mustang. It was because tens of thousands of us wrote physical letters into Ford expressing our disdain for such an idea and warning them not to do it. Ford in an absolute stroke of just, pure genius, actually listened to its customers for once and kept the RWD. In fact, I still wonder to this day did they keep the solid rear axle for so long after that just to punish us "traditionalists".
I don't know, I own a '98 Mustang GT Conv., manual, I owned it since new... $33K and I like it the best (even though it's the same as a '96/'97) I love the way the '94 to '98 look head-on, the curves of the body around the rear wheel wells. Nice! Fab video as well. Oh! I have 127 and some small change on my GT and she runs as great as she did when new- all stock, except for the 'Hurst short-throw shifter, BBK cold-air induction/high flow 78mm throttle body intake and American Racing wheels. I take good care of her!
Thinking of getting a manual GT vert myself, how is it treating you? The drop top seems like a cool feature but i'm worried about cabin noise and interior quality (plastics squeaking and breaking)
@@comradearmadillo7023 Yes, there are some cabin noise/road noise, and the interior quality on my GT is superior there are no plastic squeaking and/or breakage thus far. Like I said I owned it since new and I take very good care of her.
It's a gt and overheated first month of owning it, but it had been sitting for 6 years so I had to pretty much replace all the cooling system as it was all bad
I inherited my mom's 95 gt convertible she purchased around 2000, it was so nice they had it on the showroom floor when she bought it. The only issues that I know of and I've had is in 2010ish the factory harmonic dampener started to fail at the elastomer connection between the inner and outer almost separating. The odometer gear failed super common issue but an easy fix, power seat started to bind so some twerking and lubrication helped, convertible top is getting slow but still works. And it had a starter power cable grounded out and shorted. Rear main seal is leaking now if oil is full if it's kept a half qt down it's fine. Drivers side upper door pin worn and drivers side seat side bolster getting tattered. Sounds like a lot but mostly small typical age and mileage wear issues But overall that's it. Actually not bad for 145k and 28 years... I daily it and in the 2 years I've had it I have done practically nothing to it other than power seat repair and tires, battery I also upgraded to 18x9 (replica) cobra wheels with 265/35r18 tires and modified the exhaust with cat delete and Jones single chamber mufflers both elective not necessary. It runs beautiful tho. Sometime over next couple years I'm pulling the engine and redo it with heads cam intake and full custom exhaust and body mods followed with paint. But those issues are litterly it and when you see cars with sub 100k on em needing engines and transmissions rear axle or all older vehicals are way more reliable and cheaper to repair. Look at the lemons manufacturers have released like the F series "mod motors" having catastrophic failures like the 3valve 5.4 being done at less than 100,000 miles from sludging cap phasers and spark plugs shooting out $8000 replacement or almost all Subarus boxers head gaskets blowing out $2000+, Audi V10 main bearings failing at 75k at most being such a costly repair it totals the vehical out! And the resale of these $130k+ when new vehical selling for $7 to 8000 max when they were 4 to 5 years old or $4500 4wd GM 4l60s failing at 50k these mustangs is solid as a rock... But when there described the only thing said is there just cheap cars that have terrible typical American plastic interiors with shared components from ford's cheap compacts...my headlight switch is only $30 bad thing huh... Personally other than the door handle cups coming loose the interior is fine.... Looks cool, stylish and holds up well. I think the sn95 has a way classier interior with there dual cockpit dash vs the s197 those do look tacky, and cheap. Imo the sn95 is one of the best mustangs ever built and I don't understand why 94-98 get so much hate about the looks... Even tho I do like the new edges and they look sick when modded I think the early sn95s are better looking especially the cobras or with just a set of wide wheels n tires and tires and maybe a 2" drop they look sinister. Sorry for the long rant lol...✌️
Fantastic video!!! We have a 2000 gt 2001 gt and a 2001 Bullitt. These are great cars but be prepared for some internal engine work over 100k . Valve seal failure as well as timing component update while your in there. People bag on the 4.6 2v but it was truly revolutionary at its time. 281 cubes producing 260 in the gt or revised 275 on the Bullitt was great. They could solidly compete with the hayday musclecars of the 60s and 70s. I owned a stock 99 gt that ran low 14s in the 1/4 stock. The Bullitt stock can dip into the high 13s that is impressive. We just keep comparing to todays tech. The overhead cam technology is still used today and is still very efficient. Ford was way ahead of the time.
Bought a brand new 1999 Gt convertible 5 speed. It's been treated to full performance upgrades with a 93 octane tune. It's been lowered and installed Crower cams too. It's so much more fun to drive. It all goes out a off-road X-Pipe with Flowmaster mufflers.Sounds awesome too. I'd recommend a 99-04 model with the PI heads. 300 rwhp with 305 foot pounds of torque.
I've got 2 of them; A 2001 base model that I got from my Ex's mom, named Shit-stang, it had 193K-ish miles on it, since then it's at 204K, it was heavily used when I got it. Heavily used in the way that the guy who used it before me didn't get any fluid changes, it was basically out of everything when I got it, since it was my first car I didn't know if I needed to change anything, when I needed to change anything, or what I needed to change. It died in a sonic drive thru because it was bone dry on oil, got that fixed, alternator went bad after turning it on and off so much to diagnose other things, battery died after that, drove it for 6 hours then the radiator and radiator fan exploded, my dad replaced those and the thermometer, it was fine for a while, then it needed a spark plug change cause it was vibrating hard at idle, sunk probably close to 1.7K at this point into it to get it at least decent to drive but like I said the transmission is slow to change gears and a fluid change didn't change anything, so it's close to dead and transmissions for it are 1.5K so I might as well just buy a new one. Introducing the Bitch-mobile, the new mustang I bought 3 days ago for 3.5K, 2004 convertible with the premium interior package so it's got all the fancy speakers and leather interior. Best part about it? Basically brand new motor with only 6,800 miles on it, rebuilt transmission, new alternator and battery. Buncha goodies included too, USB cables wired up to charge your phone, touch screen stereo, deeper red paint, nicer wheels than the stock alloys. Beautiful car, needs some work after sitting in the sun for a while but still very nice But there's a catch, it had bad catalytic converters so the guy I bought it from straight piped it, but neglected the secondary cats that were likely the real issue. To counter the catch, shit-stang and Bitch-mobile have the exact same exhaust system, so I'll just throw the old ones on the new car and boom, perfectly road legal basically brand new in the ways that matter and I have the perfect part donor. Are they good cars? Yes, V6s and GTs are both good, I've got V6s but they're perfect city cars, good enough mpg and more grunt than a typical city car, plus the exterior styling beats anything you could get for under 4K easy, unless you've got a barn find '68 mustang that you picked up for like 500 bucks
@@noelperalta4975 good luck, but to actually answer your questions try and find a low mileage one, or take a "newer" one out of a parts car or off eBay, the 4R70W automatic transmissions for the can be had for around 500 bucks and it's not that hard of a swap to do on your own, could be worth trying a rebuild kit but youd have to get it right or youll ruin it more
Great video man. Very helpful and very informative. Also, thank you for including plain, retro/90s music befitting of the vehicle in question, instead of that horrible, annoying glitsy electronic jingle bells stuf that so many youtubers use. Can't wait to watch more of your videos!
I have a 1996 3.8 V6, Im curently in the prosses of fixing it up. I belive my VSS is broken due to me not able to shift properly and my speedometer not working properly. Ive fell in love with the way the car look and feels. My dream car is currently 2002-2004 SVT Cobra. If I cant find/own one then I might have to do a engine swap to give her a little more power.
I drove a 1995, 5.0 off the lot with 13 miles and put 250,000 more miles on it with one new clutch at 125,000 miles. I still have the car today but, it has not been driven in 10 years because it needs some work. My biggest issue has been structural rust on the strut towers. My last act was to rebuild the heads and replace the timing chain cover because of a leak. I would still like to get it back on the road and I am hopeful that will happen.
Mustang 2003 v6 , one of the best cars to ever own. Even compared to the new “eco boost” models baby is fast and she’s definitely yanking. Not bad for a v6er
I own the 2002 Mustang Convertible V6. No problems so far, 95,000 miles. Needs a new top, but otherwise, it runs like a top. Starts and runs like it's brand new.
For me it's hard to pick between my sn 95 98 gt 97 cobra and my 03 mach I do believe anything from 94 to 04 are the best years The newer ones are pricey I dont care for those designs
I enjoyed you vidio I have a 94 sn95. GT. It is 5 speed automatic. Bright Blue. I love it. 145000 miles.i have put few high performance add on's. Only way I would not get rid of it unless I get a 1965 fastback.
I have a 2000 Steeda Mustang GT convertible that I purchased new. It is a wonderful car but is currently under restoration. Only issue I've had with it was the rear axle pinion bearing failed with only a few hundred miles. Ford happily repaired it under warranty
1994 ford mustang gt convertible manual. I love it to death. Picked it up for $1700 last year. Runs, Screams and much more.....but!!!! Holy control tower rust haha getting it fixed though
I just bought a 96 Gt convertible a month ago she's sweet for an old guy like just fast enough for me daily drive it's in the shop rt now having a clutch and new cable both were original still has plenty of life for an oldie but goodie stock rims I will change them eventually after I paint it
Great video! I’ve owned 4 SN95’s including my 04 Mach 1. When they came out I had 2 Mach 1’s and one Gt. All of those were 2003’s. Maybe someday I’ll get a chance to own a 03-04 Cobra! 😎
I’ve got a 94 gt. It was stripped and carb swapped before I bought it. Honestly I really like it. Wish ford would have used a better manual transmission and braced engineered the cars better but it’s cool and prices for newer ones are ridiculous. Fun car for the money. And with tlc money just as fast.
Say what you want about the SN95 Era Mustangs but, they were well made, fun, easy to work on, highly modifiable, reliable, and best bang for the buck...then and now.
@@xrmerkur True. Although my new edge is safe, it handles like crap in the rain and snow. I’ve spun out 2 times already. Wish it was a bit more heavy for better traction.
My 02 gt just keeps chuggin along . 220k miles now and I gave it to my wife because she banged it up a little bit . Back in its heyday I put a 3.73 rear end with Diablo tune and cold air intake . I was running about 3/4 of a second faster than the other stock new edges at the track . Just drive it like a truck now though . No problems EVER . Oh yeah , I put a prochamber off road x pipe on it too .
I own a 2000 gt at 176k for the past 4 years only problem I’ve had timing chain slap but I believe that all the problems you mentioned have been repaired and the 4r70 auto is pretty solid with a second gear chirp 😂 which I’m sure has been tweaked a little
99-04 better design for sure but still love the older style as well, kind of biased opinion tho because I own a 01 GT oops. Great video by the way, very informative and well made 👍🏼
I own a 2001 V6 True Blue Mustang. Being as old as she is there's a lot of parts that needed replaced. The interior has some issues long-term. Some parts just creak a lot when you push on them and the texture makes it a pain in the ass to clean. The headlight design doesn't look aggressive enough for my tastes, car definitely looks better from behind than from the front. Those are my only complaints really. I love everything else about the car. It's a good blend between the classic styling and what was modern at the time.
sure wish I'd known the "Cobra problem for 99" before I bought mine. Not so fast, but a ultra low mile black ragtop beauty! Thanks for all the great info on these cars. I also have an 04 GT ragtop
What is your opinion on the solid rear axle vs the independent rear suspension. I'm torn between getting a 99 or 01 cobra vs gt. My concern is I do all my maintenance and I'm concerned about the IRS, even though I'd prefer a cobra
Great video, made me miss my 96 V6 I had back in high school. I also owned a 98 Red vert v6 and currently own a 2003 Torch Red Cobra. I would love to get my hands on a 96 Mystic, 2000 Cobra R, or 95 Cobra R one day.
I have always preferred the New Edge and have the 2001 Roush Stage 2 Convertible which my father bought new when I was in high school. The earlier SN95’s are growing on me though and I feel the best of the breed are the 5.0 and 5.8 Saleens from 1995.

im glad that i got a 99 mustang
While the 2V isn’t powerful, it’s extremely reliable making for an amazing daily driver. These cars have recently benefited immensely from improved technology in suspension and engine building
Then give it a TT
Also sound pretty good i think
@@ExoPhazturbos are highly overrated. They have lag that only builds power up high and they create tons of heat lowering the life of any engine. A centrifugal supercharger is the way to go. A nice Paxton would have it screaming and it's instant power from the time you blip the throttle. Plus when done right it won't reduce engine life nearly as much as a turbo.
@@EliteNugzthat’s completely backwards, the whole thing with turbos is that they’re easier on engines than any belt driven FI 💀

99' V6 was the most reliable car I ever owned.... It was a tank.
same. had an 04 v6 and it never let me down. drifting in winter, took it to drag strip a couple times for fun, constanly redlined it and never had to do anything other than regular maintenance. at one point my family had 10 cars total and there were times that was the only car running lol

I own a 2001 convertible in laser red that still has a beautiful shine. I added a chin spoiler and billet grille. No garage but it is always covered. It only has 69k miles. I drove it today. It only moves on sunny days because I have a truck for bad weather.

I own a `03 New Edge Mustang and i`m very happy with that car.

I am looking to get into a 00-03 model . Not too concerned about owning a v6 or v8. Is there anything in particular I should be aware about ?

Bbk intake manifold and 70 mm throttle body ford racing cold air intake and coils with center force clutch. 4:10 gears. And ripper shifter. Loved that car still best sounding car iv ever owned. Sold it to get a 05 gt stick with a whiple super charger, it's a lot faster but it's just not as raw and the illusion of speed is kind of missing. the kid that bought it from me wrapped it around the telephone pole he's all right but the car was totaled I felt like a friend died.
damn, sorry for your loss
@ Robert Stone - Re: "Sold it to get a 05 gt stick with a whiple super charger, it's a lot faster but it's just not as raw and the illusion of speed is kind of missing."
I agree about the sound of the 4.6L OHV V-8....
04 DSG Mach 1 owner here, love it, can’t beat the sound especially not by todays more exotic sounding domestics, that DOHC is legendary

I've got a 96 V6 that I'm in the process of swapping a 4.2 into. Been sitting for about 10 years or so so I'm still working on getting all the rubber components and such changed. End goal is a new or new looking everything. Even gonna redo the faded clear coat and keep the original paint.
that’s really cool good luck man. i always wanted to do a 4.2 swap on my v6 stang
I finally bought one last year 2021 a 1994 GT 5.0
soft top.

I have a 2000 V6 convertible with 138,000 kms. It's still basically brand new. I love this car
I recall it had no radio or speakers?
I watched this today and was going too comment the same. Surprised he missed the gts. I just picked up a 95 gts T5. Lightest mustang for that year
i belive you mean a gta not a gts altho there was a gt sport model in 1998
@@frankcarchedi737 He's not mistaken. 95gts 1 year production and his production numbers are correct. Except it had a borgwarner not a t5
I just bought a 96 GT with 150,000 miles to4 2k, i was born in 93 i always loved the sn95 design. Im excited to build.l, this bad boy up.
Had a 2001 GT - Silver with black leather and brushed aluminum trim.
I miss it.
Same, I had.
One less New Edge in a junkyard is music to my ears!! Kudos to you for rescuing yours!!
Very well executed, I have a 13 gt500, 98 cobra and 90 lx 5.0. The 98 cobra have a very special place in my heart.
I have one as well, and even though I love the car, I’m auctioning at Mecums Kissimmee in January. I’m looking to upgrade to a 2003-2004 cobra.😎
Bought my 02 GT new, loved it then and still love it today. With simple mods like drop springs, Koni shocks, rear control arms, cold air intake, intake elbow, cat back, and a tuner, they run and handle great.
My 2003 Mustang GT 5 speed:
CAI, 75 mm throttle body plenum, under drive pullies, off-road x- pipe with flowmasters, 4.10 racing gears, 285 rear staggered wheels with Koni shocks and struts, with rear tower brace.
I just inherited my father's Spring Edition. Only 17,000 miles.
I have 2001 Bullitt with 270K miles, BBK Short Heaters, BBK Off/Road X-Pipe and Flomasters Cat-Back. No a fast car for nowadays, but a lot of FUN to drive.
Not only do I like new edges but my favorite saleen is the S281E
HAVE A 2002 GT COUPE 5 SPD TRANS ONLY DRIVEN TO CAR SHOWS ! ORIGINAL OWNER AND CONDITION WITH 9,300 MILES ON IT ONLY PROBLEMS WERE THE STARTER AND FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED ! HAD THIS CAR SINCE NEW KEPT GARAGED AND COVERED.
Had an 03 coupe with V6. Great car, reliable, comfortable and great handling.
You can see the '94 concept styles in the '96 Taurus. Especially the tail lights and the rear quarter windows.
I respectfully disagree. The 1996 - 1999 Taurus and Sable were enormously unpopular designs and look nothing like the SN95 Mustangs.
I had both the sn95 and new edge mustang. My sn95 is a coupe and my new edge is a convertible and I love them!
I own a 94 GT manual with 43k miles on it......now I want to buy a convertible, same year................love this car!
I've got a 98 mustang and love it, been in my family since coming off the lot
I have a 2003 mach1 and I love it.
I own a 2002 V6 mustang. I absolutely love that car. It's a great highway cruiser.
How many miles ?
@@jxrioss21 it has 137k on her. Still drives like a dream. No problems what so ever.

07:32: that white interior is crazy sick, I have never seen one in person. .. must be a biatch to keep clean.. great video.. Thanks. 👍
These cars are awesome to work on. There’s loads of parts and they’re reasonably priced. Restoration or Modification is really fun on these cars
I drive a 98 canary yellow cobra conv.
Plan this spring to fit a kenne bell 2.2 sc… the car is already fully prepared to get the punch😋
New Edge All Day .. Just got an 03...It's Sweet..!!
I've got 2 of them;
A 2001 base model that I got from my Ex's mom, named Shit-stang, it had 193K-ish miles on it, since then it's at 204K, it was heavily used when I got it.
Beautiful car, needs some work after sitting in the sun for a while but still very nice
But there's a catch, it had bad catalytic converters so the guy I bought it from straight piped it, but neglected the secondary cats that were likely the real issue.
How can I find one without engine or transmission problems, I can’t afford all those repairs
Love my 2003 mach1 that car is bulletproof always love the sound of the V8 and the way it feels when I drive
2000 GT convertible with 5sp in silver with black top. 87K on the clock. Cloth seats and a recent premium cloth top. Love it!
My 99 v6 has power steering pump problems. From the information I’ve gathered I heard it was quite common among the 99-04 models
I own the 2002 Mustang Convertible V6. No problems so far, 95,000 miles. Needs a new top, but otherwise, it runs like a top. Starts and runs like it's brand new.
For me it's hard to pick between my sn 95 98 gt 97 cobra and my

I do believe anything from 94 to 04 are the best years
The newer ones are pricey
I dont care for those designs
1996-2003 is the most beautiful Mustang ever ❤❤❤❤
94 mustang gt 5.0 here sn95’s great grandad and has 199,898 miles so far lol fully built and fast asf for the year 😅
I just bought a 96 Gt convertible a month ago she's sweet for an old guy like just fast enough for me daily drive it's in the shop rt now having a clutch and new cable both were original still has plenty of life for an oldie but goodie stock rims I will change them eventually after I paint it

I own a 99 V6 AND a 2002 GT Premium Convertible! 💪🏾
🐎🏁 i enjoyed the SN95 feature you produced. currently i own an S550. mustang is constantly evolving.
I love the s550 I just wish it wasn’t so big. Even with the stock monster truck suspension of the new edge, the s550 is still bigger and taller.

I was running about 3/4 of a second faster than the other stock new edges at the track . Just drive it like a truck now though . No problems EVER . I own a 2000 gt at 176k for the past 4 years only problem I’ve had timing chain slap but I believe that all the problems you mentioned have been repaired and the 4r70 auto is pretty solid with a second gear chirp 😂 which I’m sure has been tweaked a little
Glad I discovered this channel !! Very good on making the videos on different vehicles
Chances are that the original owner got the problems rectified when Ford issued a service campaign.
