I think on the front camera mate 10 is doing it intentionally to make the selfie look more beautiful. Yeah I agree note 8’s camera is better but only the rear one.

JoubaMety The resolution is only like a dozen pixels per inch less. Unless you use your phone with a microscope, it shouldn't be a problem. For the lack of headphone jack, you can use the 200-300 dollars to buy a pair of high-end wireless headphones, alongside with a crap ton of accessories.

In auto mode samsung has completely nailed the photography, but the Mate 10 is more for using the manual modes etc. (I have the P10 Plus and I think the same goes for the Mate 10)

Thank you for the 4k comparison. Most comparisons to date have been in 1080p and with these two phone cameras, the difference is very hard to determine due to the compression. Nice review. I had high hopes for the Mate 10 with its Leica lenses.

Wait wut, samsung cameras are known for over exposing and making a more social media ready picture. You can especially tell in at night pictures, it looks insanely bright.
Just like the P series, the Mate 10's camera will get a lot better with future updates
I believe that everybody should include a section of photos taken with 1 specific app, to be able to judge about the quality of the lenses a bit more precisely.
Automatic mode is not the best way to show how good a smartphone camera can be.
Sometimes it's up to what can we do with it, not what it does by itself.

In other word the Mate 10 is better in daylight and has better selfie cam, where the Note 8 has better bokeh and better video stabilisation. Give it another year and Huawei will be on top of the world. I'm still rocking the Honor Note 8 btw.

- Front camera is better with mate 10
- max zoom shows better details in mate 10
- night photography is also better in mate 10
Not sure why you go for note 8..
In addition :
- bokeh is available in video mode in mate 10 not in note 8 (no one talks about it)
- bokeh is flexible in mate 10

I'm a photographer and I never considered a smartphone a true camera but the Note 8 does an excellent job as compared to a compact camera. Huawei has improved but remains way behind. In order to really improve cameras on smartphones they need to use larger sensors.

Боря Дюпон yeah smart phones are great for point and shoots and taking great pics in a controlled environment. The f1.6 "bokeh" on smart phones is the equivalent of (more or less) a f5.0 on full frame cameras. They're just there for the convenience of uploading the pics on social media.

Samsung, apple n google really nails down the low light photography. It still amazes me how lg v30 with bigger aperature still lose to s8 heck even the note 8 in low light with brighter picture and controlled noise level. Really great job samsung
aperture size only matters if you compare them to sensors with the same size
3:50, reducing exposure does not hide noise it is well known to increase noise, I think you meant it reduces motion blur.

Mate 10 slightly better at photos, Note 8 a lot better at video :D Soo the Note 8 is still better :P Mate 10 pictures don't look better than the Note 8 but they have a little more texture that's it, it has a little more detail, which you would not even notice so i would strongly go with Note 8 if i have to make that decision.

The Samsung does better video but it also over saturated all the stills... Most of the Samsung still were hazy/fuzzy... The Mate 10 had more realistic colors and depth with better bokeh and zoom. The Hauwei won hands down!

Phillip Pugh as the publisher of his video he is entitled to say what ever he would like about the phones as it is his right. It is also my right as a human and PHD in photography and cinematography to voice my opinion in the comment section. Samsung has always been known to give more artificial Color in the reproduction of the images while Huawei has always given true tone colors. I had a Huawei P10 Plus then about a week and a half ago I started using the Note 8. The publisher of the video can say what ever he would like but if you go have a look at over reviews everyone else is saying how over saturated the note 8 is compared to the Hauwei Mate 10. As this is all my opinion and we are both entitled to our opinions which is all that matter.

Yeah lets compare the mate 10 thats has pre production software, against the note 8 that has the final software.
I think the Mate 10 has sensor and lens game sown up but it needs more software work. The note is calibrated better, has better color management and is obviously more stable. I'd say the Note wins now but the 10 could win in theory in the future if it gets some work done processing side. I think I'll keep my Mate 9 for now and maybe get the P2XL instead when they drop a few $
