    Thank you for these videos they're awesome 🥰 i wanted to tell you, if you get those little bags of vase filler round stones from dollar tree and pop them in the oven for about 15mins then put them in ice water they crack and are really easy to break. They would look super cool for the sparkly part :)

    Your creativity is fascinating. I love the way you think as you create these lovely works of art. Can't wait to watch part 2.

    I FINALLY got up the courage. Finally gathered all the necessary supplies and made my first attempt at using resin and I made a geode using the things I learned from your videos. I watched for over a month. I want ro post a picture but cant figure out how to

      Oh my gosh! I would love to see it! I'm not sure if you can post pictures on TH-cam comments but a lot of people choose to share on my Facebook page. I would love for you to send me a pic there!

    Fantastic work! When you use the larger drill bit to flush the screws with the frame we call that countersinking.

      Thanks for watching. And thanks for the clarification! I didn't know that! What you saw is basically everything that I know about using a drill. Ha ha!

    I've started watching your videos. Beautiful work. I saw your green geodesic piece which was atop a gold holder. How did you make the gold holder that held the green geodesic piece. The gold piece looks solid. A gorgeous piece of work!!!! Thank you.

      Thank you so much! I'm trying to figure out which video you are talking about with the gold holder?

    Gorgeous, you're so creative, totally jellybeans... You also get extra points for jammies! Or J'parma's as they are known in my home, but I couldn't say pyjamas when I was very young, I'd apparently say J'parma's... When told this by my oh so wonderful parents, my husband (then boyfriend) laughed his butt off, and he never called them pyjamas again.

    This was just mesmerising to watch. And fabulous!😊I heard you mentioning you always burn your fingers on the hot glue. I watch a lot of craft videos where the women use hot glue guns constantly. I’ve noticed a trick a lot of them do to avoid this. Silicone spatulas to press whatever they’re gluing to save their fingers. Usually they are gluing ribbon or faux flowers or materials etc, but I reckon it should work for your stones too. Check out the Magnolia House wife’s channel she uses spatulas all the time.

      Thanks for the tip! I've been wearing my gloves that I pour in recently and that seems to give me just enough barrier that if I accidentally get glue on my fingers, it keeps me from getting burned. But I didn't have a plan for pushing things down and holding them without it getting too hot!

    Wondering if you couldn't use E6000 or the hot glue to affix the smaller canvas on the back?

    • @thefrugalresinista
      @thefrugalresinista  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you probably could as long as you then let the resin fall into the hole enough to affix it more permanently. I use E6000 on lots of projects but I would still worry that with how heavy the glass is that if my piece got bumped, the E6000 wouldn't be enough to hold it in place. It's worth a try!

    The thick paper is it card stock?

  • @chillywilly3898

    Does the weight of the geod stretch the canvas?

    • @thefrugalresinista
      @thefrugalresinista  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't seem to. When you create a 3D hole with the canvas in the back, that canvas frame holds up the canvas around the hole on the larger of the two. If I am not using a second canvas, sometimes I will stack magazines underneath the middle of my canvas so that it stays level. Once it is completely cured, it's good to go. Thanks for watching!

      I've seen some artists "shove" a piece of cardboard the size of the opening to butt up to the underside of the canvas. Leave a tab of tape to pull it out afterwards.

    Cheap dish scrapers you use for cleaning are great cheap ways to spread resin.🙂

      Note to self: have someone else do the drilling so I don't screw it up! 😂 haha

      @@thefrugalresinista they have a plethora of colours for a reasonable price considering the size of the bags. Came across your channel by accident glad I did. I absolutely love Geodes and have always wanted to try resin based crafts.

    Could you explain why you do need 2 screws on bottom piece, but don't on top. Having a brain fart.

    • @thefrugalresinista
      @thefrugalresinista  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem. It may be an issue with my editing. I did use two screws for each. I may have cut one out accidentally. Oops! Thanks for watching!
