Lol I've had my supplies for like 6 months. I've just been so scared to jump into a new (and expensive) medium. But thank you for this and all of your videos. I've been watching for awhile trying to build up the nerve, but now I feel ready-as I'm gonna be. Here goes nothin'!! Love from the beach in S.C.
So informational! Thank you. I've been making resin/polymer clay jewelry for quite some time. First time I used Stone Coat, I was surprised at how fast it actually set up.. However; I have watched most of your videos so I knew what to expect lol. Thank you for all the information you give us! 😊
Gorgeous as always! I clicked on the link for the crushed glass and this is what turned up lol Price: $19.99 + $81.99 shipping (1) Richland Glass Crushed 5-8mm 46oz Silver NOPE not for we frugals!
Well done, you explained it very comprehensively and I found it of great value. It is a pity we cannot get the range of products and the prices are way more expensive here in Australia. Keep up this type of video, regards Tony
thank you for this very informative tutorial. I have tried resin once to coat two completed paintings and messed them up so badly, they had to be tossed. I have been fearful of trying resin again. but your explanations in this video were so complete, I am definitely going to give it a try again. One question... does the temperature of the room you are using the resin in, need to be a certain temperature? I heard the room temp could definitely effect the resin curing properly. thank you!
Definitely try again! You guys see my videos of things that were successful but I definitely have pieces that get messed up and don't work the way I want them to. I think it just takes a few tries to get the hang of the resin. I know that the hotter resin is, the faster it will cure and if it is extremely cold, it won't cure correctly. I have my studio space set to 72 degrees Farenheit.
I think you mean can you pour in the same room? I believe so. The higher the temp, the faster your resin will cure so you just want to make sure that you either work fast or stick to a temp that is not too high in the room.
Gotcha! I think it would be fine. I use a blow torch right against the resin to pop the bubbles. Depending on what type of resin you use might make a difference. I use Stone Coat Countertops resin and that is approved around extreme heat. They even have a TH-cam video of them lighting a counter top on fire!
You want only a tiny bit of paint. Resin doesn't love acrylic paint. I do 1 part paint to 10 parts resin. That's enough to color it really well but not enough to make the resin the wrong consistency. Thanks for watching!
I have a question. I did my first resin geode, thanks to ur inspiration :). But I noticed when I tipped it that the paint had gone to the bottom and ‘stuck’ t the canvas. So it muddied the look. Any idea why that happened??
Hmm... I'm not sure what you mean by the paint going to the bottom. Do you mean that the paint sunk into the resin so you had a kind of color on the bottom/clear on the top look?
How much resin did you put into the cup with 1 tsp of color & did you do the hard & soft resin and the quick dry resin? Or did you do just the quick dry? Thanks, Joyce
In freaking love with this. ❤🤗 p.s. I'm uploading a video right now that I gave you a shout out in and will link your channel also. It should be done in a few hours. I hope you get a few more(aka a LOT) subs because you deserve them. 😘
I probably wouldn't. But not because it's acrylic. I've looked at our dollar stores in the area and their colors aren't that great. My local Walmart does sell a LOT of colors and they are only $.50 each! Maybe give that a try if you have a Walmart in your area?
Cannot find the quick coat resin that you used. Could you give me the site? I went on Stonecoat counter top/ quick dry coat and didn’t see it. Thanks Joyce
Just don't use alcohol to get resin off your skin. I was using it the first few times I used resin for the times I accidentally got it on my skin but then I read that the alcohol breaks down the resin so much that it makes it seep into your skin 😒 whoops!
Thank you for this. I can’t wait to try it! I bought some liquitex from Micheal’s, what are your thoughts on that? It just says it’s a pouring medium. ?
I've used Liquitex! I think it's fine. I wouldn't put it in resin at all but if you are mixing it with acrylic to pour and then put resin over the top when it is dry, it should be fine. That's what I've done in the past.
Gorgeous! Could you make a video about geode coasters? I've seen that the "1/4 slice" is rather popular. I hope you know which one I'm talking about, it looks a bit like gold leafed geode pizza slice :D
You're nicer than I am. I'm a bit snobby about it and want my name on the front. Ha ha! But I do try really hard to sign in a place that doesn't take away from the look (ie: not signing in white on black, etc...).

Another fantastic video! Thank you for the thorough explanation of every step. 🙂
Thank you so much for continuing to watch!
This is so beautiful!! Thank you for being so informative while you were creating:))

Oh no! Ha ha! I'll check that link! Thanks for the heads up. And yes, definitely not frugal! :D
So weird. It says Prime free shipping when I click on it. I am in the USA. Are you maybe elsewhere?
Thank you for this video, I’m definitely going to try this 😘
Yay! Share a pic of your creation on my Facebook page!
So excited to see a fellow michigander with such a great Channel thanks for sharing.
Yay! Hello fellow Michigander! Thanks so much for watching!
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
I love these colors! I have the same problem I have colors I'm comfortable using and it's hard to try other colors.
Isn't it hard to break out of your comfortable colors?!
Sooo hard!! But you do a great job picking colors, all your geodes look so pretty!
Thanks!
You're Welcome!
Me, too!

New subscriber here! This is the best resin geode video I’ve seen. Thank you for being so informative
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing!
Thank you so much for making this video! ❤️
Thank you so much for watching!
I love how thorough you are!

Thanks so much!
Hello! Great job thankyou for the video, quick question... can I paint with acrylics and then add the resin?
Thanks for sharing...

I'm am just learning about this. You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you so much.
One ? Can you use the resin around a furnace and water heater?
I think you mean can you pour in the same room? I believe so. The higher the temp, the faster your resin will cure so you just want to make sure that you either work fast or stick to a temp that is not too high in the room.
I was referring to the fumes from the resin and the open flame from a furnace and water heater.
I'd hate to blow myself up. Lol
Gotcha! I think it would be fine. I use a blow torch right against the resin to pop the bubbles. Depending on what type of resin you use might make a difference. I use Stone Coat Countertops resin and that is approved around extreme heat. They even have a TH-cam video of them lighting a counter top on fire!
Awesome. Thanks for taking the time to answer me.
Not sure if I just missed this. How exactly do you mix the resin with the paint? Equal parts of each resin?
You want only a tiny bit of paint. Resin doesn't love acrylic paint. I do 1 part paint to 10 parts resin. That's enough to color it really well but not enough to make the resin the wrong consistency. Thanks for watching!
Do u have a vid re ur pendants and how u do them?
My video #49 shows how I use my leftover resin drips to make jewelry pendants. I haven't done a full tutorial though. I'll add it to my list!
I have a question. I did my first resin geode, thanks to ur inspiration :). But I noticed when I tipped it that the paint had gone to the bottom and ‘stuck’ t the canvas. So it muddied the look. Any idea why that happened??

I filled the cups almost to the top. I think that would be about 3 tablespoons. I used all quick coat resin. Thanks for watching!
In freaking love with this. ❤🤗 p.s. I'm uploading a video right now that I gave you a shout out in and will link your channel also. It should be done in a few hours. I hope you get a few more(aka a LOT) subs because you deserve them. 😘

Also, I'm currently trying to do my first ocean/beach pour and I've been watching yours! I'll post your page in mine as well!
@@thefrugalresinista 😘😘😘
Can you use Rust-Oleum enamel spray paint rather than the testers?
Would u ever use dollar store acrylic paint?

can fire place glass be used for the glass vase filler?
Cannot find the quick coat resin that you used. Could you give me the site? I went on Stonecoat counter top/ quick dry coat and didn’t see it. Thanks Joyce
Absolutely! Here is the page that has both sizes available... www.stonecoatcountertops.com/art-epoxy-products
I have heard you can use alcohol to the resin when it gets tacky.. never tried that have you? Thanks for another great video!
I haven't. Sounds interesting!
Just don't use alcohol to get resin off your skin. I was using it the first few times I used resin for the times I accidentally got it on my skin but then I read that the alcohol breaks down the resin so much that it makes it seep into your skin 😒 whoops!
Hi...to eliminate plastic waste, can we mix with the small dixie cups that are waxed paper?
I think you could. I use the thicker cups and reuse them a bunch of times. That helps with waste as well.
Thank you for this. I can’t wait to try it! I bought some liquitex from Micheal’s, what are your thoughts on that? It just says it’s a pouring medium. ?

This is beautiful. How long did you wait before you peeled the tape and shaved the sides?
Thank you! I waited about 2 hours since the resin is quick-cure.
how do you know if you need to use a respirator when using resin/epoxy?
Thanks alot😘
Thank you for watching!
Where do you sell your art?
I sell through my Facebook page and also do some gallery shows and craft shows.
New sub here! You rock!!! 😃
Woo hoo! You are awesome! Thanks for watching!
Can gold leaf paint work?
Ooohhh! I don't know. That would look gorgeous if it works.
I love
Thank you!

i want to sign all my geodes but my client my like the picture upside down, than the way i see it or sideways, so i sign on back....
You're nicer than I am. I'm a bit snobby about it and want my name on the front. Ha ha! But I do try really hard to sign in a place that doesn't take away from the look (ie: not signing in white on black, etc...).
you know you're right.. i like my name visible too, they may not turn it over to see your name....i'm back to signing
on front...lol
LOL! Love it!
I wouldnt suggest using any resin without respirator or at least a mask.
I know that everyone has different ideas about the "safer" resins. Definitely only do what you feel safe doing!
@@thefrugalresinista used to study biochemistry so speaking from that point of knowledge. No safe resin especially when it is heated up :)
Thank you for letting me know that. I will start recommending masks for even the "safe" resin!
