It made way more than I thought. But honestly after seeing the numbers I started to process you put a smaller pulley on it and it's made for v6. So it does make sense that it makes more power than I initially thought.
Eaton's are used by a lot of manufacturers. Ford, GM, Dodge, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Toyota all used Eaton at some point. M62 and M90 are probably the most common superchargers on the planet.
That is insanely good power. Lets be honest here, if you boost a wrx ej25 to those numbers it'll throw a rod or blow a HG. The EZ30 is an insanely good and slept on platform.

Your interactions with the channel comments are gold. Everything you do for these projects is very appreciated, it'll be great to see what other content you put out! Motor Mount SQUAAAAAD.
Damn I love the DIY nature of this swap. I've also done an H6 Swap, 06 Impreza and I've been thinking of Super Charging it, after seeing this the decision is made.
I'm glad the algorithm sent your channel my way. I love your approach to hot rodding: just get it going and drive it! The obvious next thing to do IMO is take it to your local drag strip
ngl if you covered up the supercharger this would be a crazy sleeper. "What's that whine bro? you sure it's stock?" "Yeah it's just my timing belt it sounds a little weird bro don't worry about it."
Been waiting for this video and wasn't disappointed. Keep up the good work and the great videos! I aspire to build something crazy like this and for as cheap as well. Just amazing...
Buy a legacy spec.b 6mt if you are worried about the price of the STI 6mt. It will save you about 1-2 grand depending on where you get it. The downside is the open front differential, and the 1.1:1 center diff. However, they do have taller later gears, which a lot of people(including myself) find very enticing. They are abundant online. Anyhow, this build is very impressive, I aspire to reach your kind of fab work myself one day, since I am just a hobbyist myself. The armchair commenters are just unaware of how these things actually work and what is worth putting more effort into and what isn't.
Im a day late so you probably won't see this. But wanted to say I LOVE your content, and I LOVE your take on tuning. Getting a build actually *built* is so much more important and satisfying than hyperfocusing on all the minutia.
I had issues blowing up 5speeds. I ended up putting Lucas oil 250w gear oil in it and haven’t had any gears break yet. Its been taking over a year of beating with 500hp and 450 torque!
I think the engine setup and power are perfect. My suggestion would just slowly start feeding it STI suspension, drivetrain, and brake parts as time a budget allow. If you still like it after all that consider wheels, job done. Such a setup would probably be one of the best, most well rounded Subaru builds ever done.
Man, your builds are awesome and you build cars the same way I do and look at it the same. I love your legacy! Freakin making your own intake manifold and slap in that 3.8 super charger on it. That was ingenious and awesome keep up the great work!
I just stumbled upon your channel man, and I have to say it is extremely refreshing. Nearly every other channel I've watched gets caught up in throwing the best, top of the line, over engineered everything at something just for minimal gain. And let's be honest, your average car enthusiast isn't going to have the budget to waste money on many of these high-dollar parts. You sir, have easily earned a new follower.
Absolutely incredible content, haven’t been this thrilled with finding a car channel since I first watch donut media, you are not only knowledgeable and make interesting builds but you have incredible comedic timing and good editing, super excited to watch thru ur backlog and see the other builds, great stuff man keep it up
It isn't. Not even close. Those guys did something very very sus with the dyno software. Something went down, an M90 ain't making 400 wheel. Not ever. Has never happened on Earth. The blower whine is way too low pitched to even try to attempt a high power run- listen to it. That blower would have to have a tiny pulley and would be SCREAMING and still wouldn't make 380. That dyno is off by like 100+ hp
@@Carguylogan I didn't think so either. But I just watched Richard Holdener make 450 with a GenV M90 on top of a 4.8 Ls motor. His latest video series. Mind blown
@@sjhudon386 With a lot of pulley. This guy is running the stock pulley ratio, he says it in the video and you can hear it too. To make 387 an unported M90 would be absolutely screaming. And I still don't think it'd do it. This video is a stock M90 with the stock pulley ratio making 8 psi. There's no way it made 387 wheel lol.
Yeah numbers did seem a bit high, but I'm only as good as my tools, and the dyno is a tool. I had planned to go to the track today but it was closed due to weather. Trying to get some runs in before the end of the season
Your views vs sub count is incredible and it's cuz the content is solid. Nows the time to push the channel is going to have a growth spurt like...now just subbed stoked to see what you do👊👊
This channel is truly being slept on. It should be way bigger than it is. You have great content that most people didn't even know they wanted to watch.
That thing has such a unique engine/exhaust note. I love your attitude towards budget builds because I can certainly relate. What a cool build, you've earned yourself a sub.
I'm excited to watch this channel grow, and I look forward to each video that comes out. You're an inspiration to me, and its just the right amount of data, combined with "send it because race car". Also, MOTOR MOUNTS!
God damn this thing sounds so friggin good!!! Gives me the fizz brother, I can't imagine how fun it must be to drive. 100% subbed, especially since this follow up video came relatively quickly after the previous vid. Can't wait to see where this goes next!!
This channel reminds me a little of aging wheels. straight to the point, funny, and not overbuilding the car. Just having fun. I saw your car on a FB page and was interested in how much power, and boy I didn't realize it could make that much! now I'm second guessing my 2.5 swap into my WRX wagon... I'm glad you make videos on it.
I wish more builds were like this, cheap junk parts, DIY, going for fun rather than perfection, this is so much more attainable in the audience’s eyes and it makes it so enjoyable to watch. You’re awesome dude, thanks for the content
I just discovered this channel about an hour and a half ago, and I'm already hooked. It's like Engineering Explained and Robot Cantina had a love child.
Dude I’m supercharging my cavalier with an Eaton m62 so this process is dope to see, way more power than expected and you’re the man for sharing all your info for free
Wanting to do all this to my H6 and needed to know what ecu to run and you not only told me but showed me. Thank you. You’ve gotten my second sub ever just for that. Please don’t stop this build and thank you
Dude I love your videos! I found your channel a few days ago and watched basically everything. It’s freaking awesome that you’re using budget parts and doing it yourself. Seriously inspiring for when I start my own project
loving the videos, what you are going through now is what I went through with the 2000+ toyota celica. I was one of the pioneers in boosting and building the 2ZZ engine. I feel your pain
yep. earned a sub from me, you liiterally have the content of a channel that should have a million plus. please keep going, and if i could possibly suggest a junkyard build, it would be a j35 honda v6 inside any small honda
Dude, you're the man. This is the first video of yours that I have seen, but your overall attitude and approach is fantastic and provides great content with humor. Keep it up! Just subscribed.
I literally just discovered your channel a couple days ago but honestly you're easily one of the best I've watched, great pacing and really entertaining.
I was not expecting THAT jump in horsepower for this car, i was expecting 289hp at best, despite the fact that the engine is a flat 6. And i have found out, that you can make same power with a turbo, but knowing from your last video, you will blow it up. Great work, hope more videos come out soon.
Just found your channel, I’m not even a subie guy, but I want to say build is sick and so is your channel man! Hope to see the build grow and like wise for the channel.
My jaw literally dropped when I saw the numbers. I was guessing it would make 280, you’re seriously on to something with this build. I really underestimated the m90!! I have 4 cars with that blower and I had no idea it could do something like this if slapped on a different motor. All those different points about airflow and stuff you were talking about definitely went through my mind when watching the last vid. Keep this up man, I’m on the edge of my seat with this build. Love it.
I've just binged your entire channel. This is gold and should have 1M subs. These builds are insane, your delivery is hilarious, and production quality is awesome. 'Leaving the motor mounts to boost engagement for the algorythm.' 🤣🤣🤣 Absolute legend.
Sooo cool and very impressive. More than doubled the power! Sounds amazing too! I could imagine this setup in a 2000 2.5RS 2 door with full blue and yellow WRC decor. Very inspiring dude! Porsche power territory for low doe!!
Another comment for the algorithm. I'd love to see some upgrades done to this project, but not power upgrades. It's making great power and bordering on the the limit of the stock internals. I would like to see some thermal efficiency upgrades. I'm in Australia (g'day mate) and we have some fantastic companies down here that put alot of r&d into the supercharged L67 engine. Mace Engineering is one of them. The do a lightened rotor kit for the m90 which increases response and loweres inlet temperature. They also do air to air and water to air intercooler plates....thermal insulated spacers as well. Many other places make kits like this, I'm just using these guys as an example. I know you mentioned it was pretty knock free but any engine could benift from a cooler intake charge. Mo cold mo better. I expect the aluminium plenum is helping with a bit of heat transfer too. Would be interesting to see the intake air temps. Fenix radiators do a great upgraded radiator for the EZ30 as well. Over twice the thickness of a standard core. Benifits to be had from an external engine oil cooler ( over the factory one ) and maybe even a transmission cooler too....that might help that poor little 5 speed live a bit longer. Someone mentioned using 250w gear oil in the 5 speed...and i also 2nd this motion. A dash of friction modifier wouldnt hurt either. Keep an eye on the accessory drive tensioner pulley, they like to undo themselves and fall off. It's awesome to see you using an Aussie ECU as well 👍 I totally understand this is a budget build. Im 100% all for that. Im not trying to make you spend money, just offering suggestions and being part of the chat. Cheers 👍
Badass. Keep it up. I'm always impressed with folks who know how to do everything from CAD to tuning to fab work all on a budget. It's the direction I'm aiming towards but use my skills in just keeping hunks of shit running and fixing stuff for the folks I care about.
I love this channel. It’s awesome to see a normal guy messing with cars instead of some huge channel who can get all new and expensive parts. It’s nice to see just a normal guy do stupid stuff like this. Makes me want to supercharge my car
There's a number of these making awesome power here in Aus, I met a bloke about 11 years ago now who had a gen 3 outback with the auto, supercharged with water to air intercooler and meth. Made 400whp and so much torque, it squated the towbar into the ground. These engines are sooo slept on, been saying it for years. Will eventually build one with forged goodies but keeping the stock comp. Given 10psi through a gtx3576r on e makes 400whp, 20 psi should see 500whp relatively easily.
Thank you for reminding us about what you call micro-optimizing a project. A new version of "perfection is the enemy of the good." You can always revisit a part but just getting a rig on the road just good enough to enjoy is really the best part. Upgrade later and just get it going. I think your motivation for the whole thing will improve. I say that as my motivation for my current project is waning.
So I got a couple sets of motor mounts here I could send you... also I have been wondering if the 5speeds did work with the H6 motor. It's a swap I've been thinking of doing for about a year to my 2001 legacy wagon. And yes I blew up my transmission as well. I'm on my back up trans but I don't have a backup trans for my backup transmission in case I need another back up transmission. And yes a 6 speed swap is in my cars plans soonish
Honestly i was already sold but it was putting your intake designs up for free that made me hit that subscribe button. The spirit of hot rodding is alive and well here. Throw together what you got, get a lil weird with it, have a friggen blast doing it 👍 ill be keeping an eye on this channel (for inspiration as well, if i ever grenade my 04 fxt 😦)
Top end lubricant is important. Mystery oil or Lucas oil treatment, I prefer mystery. The heat expansion on the head plus wet rings is better. It's been the difference between a re ring and more runs than not.
I picked up a JDM transmission years ago. My techs told me the 5 speeds are made of glass. 😂 The new one ran smooth as butter. Good luck with the build.
What a cool build. It even sounds good. I'd leave it exactly as it is, and take it racing at some local RallyCross events. I bet it's an absolute riot to get sideways on dirt.
400 hp in any subaru is a lot of fun. the custom supercharger is the coolest part I've always wanted to supercharge and use the turbo on my 05 STI. Low end plus top end would be amazing. good video!!

Someone mentioned using 250w gear oil in the 5 speed...and i also 2nd this motion. A dash of friction modifier wouldnt hurt either.
Keep an eye on the accessory drive tensioner pulley, they like to undo themselves and fall off.
It's awesome to see you using an Aussie ECU as well 👍
I totally understand this is a budget build. Im 100% all for that. Im not trying to make you spend money, just offering suggestions and being part of the chat.
Cheers 👍
All very helpful info, thanks a ton! And I've been using Haltech products for years, very good stuff. If only they'd reply to my emails...
@@BlackthumbTV they probably can't read them....try flipping the screen upside down when you send it

Badass. Keep it up. I'm always impressed with folks who know how to do everything from CAD to tuning to fab work all on a budget. It's the direction I'm aiming towards but use my skills in just keeping hunks of shit running and fixing stuff for the folks I care about.
Hope that you pop off this year so u can make an even crazier build good luck man
this is sick man!!! glad I’m not the only one who kept back up transmissions.. I swapped to 6 speed tho! Keep it up man 🖤
Dude put out his Franken intake design for free, made a fun junkyard racecar. You earned the sub dude 🍻
Dude. Holy crap! I’m glad you took it cause that was way more than expected. That thing rips!
Hands down best channel ive watched ina while such simple comedy and builds but so entertaining
You pointed out the time stamp for the good parts but I doubt anyone skipped because this is quality content
I love this channel, I hope this blows up dude!
Good lord, this is an absolute monster of an H6. You seriously should applaud yourself for this project.
Fantastic.👌
I was expecting 250-270.
I do love how the car squats in acceleration.... soft front suspensions.
Well said! Keeping thing simple helps me not get bored with a project!
Follow up
Got a gen 5 M90 today for cheap... don't know where it'll go. Maybe even a 4cyl Subaru.
Im happy i came across youre channel! This build has been fun to watch. Can always optimize a few things over time, thats my plan for my bmw
Again. Here we are. Awsome episode. What fun. Really grounding to see this kind of content. Well done 👏👏👏
Awesome to have you, hope to see you back soon!
Thanks again for letting me on the dyno on such short notice!
The car sounds amazing, and that is WAY more power than I had expected! I am impressed, especially knowing that was without an intercooler!
Love the content. Working with what you got and making it work well, is refreshing to watch. I love the low buck diy!
Great build. Love the diy. More power than expected 😅
Just subscribed when you said, keeping a realistic goal. The part that you put of other people's comments or opinions is so true!!
Cool video man, The editing work is really improving :)
Good luck with the build.
you can get a 2nd gear upgrade = thicker and treated for heat and strength !
ej and fa guys be shaking in their boots over this and i love it
Loving the build keep it up man do as you like...
An exterior upgrade would suit the car , looking as good as it goes
What a cool build. It even sounds good. I'd leave it exactly as it is, and take it racing at some local RallyCross events. I bet it's an absolute riot to get sideways on dirt.
400 hp in any subaru is a lot of fun. the custom supercharger is the coolest part I've always wanted to supercharge and use the turbo on my 05 STI. Low end plus top end would be amazing. good video!!
The presentation is so good. And the skills and knowledge. Real glad I found this channel
First time seeing your channel. Absolutely love the video. Awesome work.
