I remember playing the movie game on the GameCube. I didn't have Battle for Bikini Bottom but this is the closest I got to it.

The movie game was flawed but decent. It could’ve been just as amazing as BFBB if Heavy Iron just had more time to rework some of the poor decisions. Needless to say the remake could be perfect!
I never played battle of Bikini bottom as a kid, but I did play the movie game. It was the first PS2 game I ever owned, I have fond nostalgia for it. I would love a remake of the movie game...

I honestly think a remake of Lights, Camera, Pants! would be my top priority in terms of SpongeBob remakes. That game is a very solid Mario Party clone.

One thing I liked better in the Movie game than BFBB is the soundtrack, badass soundtrack especially the final boss.
I grew up playing these amazing Nickelodeon games. I hope that they keep remaking/remastering them. The ones that I really want to see is the Nicktoons Unite trilogy and the Tak trilogy.

@@mariobroultimate1808 I'm pretty sure that the 1st 3 have "Nicktoons" in their name. Globs of Doom is a Spongebob game with other Nick characters. I know that it is also a crossover, but the title still has it as Spongebob game.
@@megafield1132 It's made using the same engine as the last three games. I think they just put Spongebob in the title so that it would sell more, considering that all the other nicktoons in the game had their shows canceled.

I honestly don't think the goober token system would need a complete over just change how much you need, maybe instead of needing 50 to complete the game you would need 40-45 making it so you wont really need to redo that many missions, also fixing the Patty wagon controls would be nice, changing the still cutscenes to fully 3D animated ones, and redoing many of the voice lines , overall I think I might prefer the movie game to BFBB and I would love to see it remade with more polish.

Ok, look. This is an unpopular opinion, but I honestly think the movie game is better than bfbb. And with that, I'D LOVE A REMAKE OF THE MOVIE GAME!! Its part of my Top 5 best 3D Platformer!
I hope they consider. SHiFT is an impressive speedrunner that is testing the game, and A LOT of their tips for the BFBB remake they're taking from him. When he saw in a live stream when they were asked about a Movie remake, he whined a lot and said the game is terrible and needs to be forgotten. I really hope he doesn't act as the devil in their ear and make them not wanna do it.

With the spongebob movie game, a hub world like battle for bikini bottom wouldn't have worked, mainly because of the structure of the film. With B.F.B.B, a hub world made sense because the game was based off of the first seasons of the television series, so it made sense to be able to visit the iconic locations from the show. But with the movie, spongebob and patrick never went back to the same place, (except when they came back to bikini bottom at the end) so if they did make a hub world, it would stick out like a sore thumb.
Maybe there could be some kind of mode where you play as spongebob and patrick at the same time where you could do all of the abilites from the gba version like the belly dash, pants parachute and butt slam

I feel like the best approach here would be to make a movie tie-in game for the newest movie and model it after the original movie game that way they can ride the coattails of BfBB Rehydrated and fix whatever issues the original game may've had with it's level design/progression system all whilst appealing to a new generation while keeping the familiar gameplay that'd draw longtime fans in...

I want a remaster of Spongebob The Movie Game, this game was SO fun and it would be so nostalgic. I have Battle for Bikini Bottom rehydrated, and have been playing it, it’s really fun and is very nostalgic, but the movie game I always liked better. I also beat Battle for Bikini Bottom but I never beat the movie game. This game was SO sick! I need a rehydration
I'm sorry, I like the game the way it is. A remake would be good. The driving levels and sliding levels I loved a lot (although I'm on board with you, I like the platforming levels more). The driving and sliding levels gave me a challenge the BFBB didn't provide. So I'm on board for a remake.
I think it’s a preference thing, everyone who loves battle for bikini bottom hates the movie game for the same reasons, and those same reasons are why people love the movie game, his first point was that the movie game is level to level, not open world, but honestly I like that way better

They should just make it dlc for rehydrated at this point. Originally, I thought it would’ve been cool if when you go into the movie theatre in rehydrated, you can sit down to watch the movie, which would basically just be the remade movie game levels.

I think it’s major weird to remake a game about a movie that came out years ago. I think they should remake Revenge of the Flying Dutchman because it’s such a classic Spongebob game and deserves new life.
I think it would work best as an expansion to Rehydrated, not a full priced standalone game. On its own its a more linear and much shorter game that relied on grind to artificially extend its length. I guess I see this game in the same way I see something like FarCry: BloodDragon in relation to Far Cry 3. Having it be an expansion would also bring some new opportunities: like maybe a mode separate from the main game where the player can bring in abilities from one game into the other using cheats or bringing characters into areas they were originally not supposed to be playable in.
I wish they would remake the Ed, Edd n' Eddy game.

Rehydrated is a masterpiece. As of now it’s #8 in the Bestselling section on the Switch eShop! I would totally buy a remake of the Movie Game mostly because it’s the one I grew up with.

I would love a movie game remake but one thing that they could fix is the amount of backtracking for goofy goober token.
One possible change could be to allow us to play all the tasks in one level all the way through instead of having to backtrack later just so we can progress through the game

here are some ideas:
1.I think the movie game would work with mutiplayer becuse spongebob and patrick do travel together and they do appear in cutscenes together
2. replacing goofy goober tokens with other objects. like in no cheese you get the manager promotion and for bbbh you get the key
3. making the frog fish fight a driving level with hitting targets to damage the frog fish.
4. UPGRADING THE PATTY WAGON. you can upgrade HP speed and different wheels and other misc things like for wheels. like a wheel that makes sliding in oil end quicker
5. replace rock slide with a falling challenge where you avoid falling debris
6. shell city dead ahead slide?
7. KEEPS MR KRABS CORRECT VOICE ACTOR
8. include a level editor so we can make coustom levels
9 cyclops boss fight.
10. I think in NTWM there should be friendly monsters and sb and Patrick should talk to them.
11 sandwitch driving 101 theme should change depending on the level by using the sound fonts from each levels

Didn't expect to see myself in this. To expand on what I said, I don't think the Movie game is great, so I don't personally think it deserves a remake. I also wouldn't really mind all that much because Battle for Bikini Bottom is the only SpongeBob game I love, so I'm kinda indifferent towards what happens to SpongeBob video game wise. I don't think it's a good idea financially though, it's based off of a movie from 2004, and once again, I don't think the game is that amazing. It's just alright to me.
They could try to make it better. I understand that it's not your type of game, but I find this to be a game for Spongebob fans who prefer linearity over explorable open worlds. I think the main reason some people aren't fond of the game is backtracking for Goofy Goober tokens. I think that's the part of the game that needs a major rehaul, and changing that alone would make the Movie game WAY better, in my opinion. Maybe also add more bosses like they're doing with Rehydrated (they're adding Robo Squidward), cause just four isn't enough for me.

Maybe Purple Lamp might make a possible original Nicktoons game like My Life as a Teenage Robot since that franchise really needs a video game. (I know it's from an obscure franchise but it would be awesome if they did it just in time for the 20th anniversary in the year 2023!)
If they do remake the spongebob movie game, they should probably add a few little bonus rewards

And the entire GBA version of the movie game with modern graphics, widescreen, remastered soundtrack and sound, an actual save system, improved controls, and voice acting in the cutscenes
Honestly I would want too many changes to the movie game, more play forming way less with driving and sliding having more exploration. Battle for bikini bottle just had more freedom. Maybe adding a hub world could help but I don’t know it if would work. The other issue is it being a movie tie in game, relevance doesn’t really matter but with it being a movie tie in game with more restriction with references and such I feel like they’d want to shy away from remaking it specifically. It’s not that I hate the game or think it couldn’t or shouldn’t and who knows maybe they’ll do a reuse assets thing and without a tie in time frame they’d have way more time to polish cutscenes and maybe add more to levels.

I grew up with the Spongebob Movie Game, so I would LOVE a remake! I actually prefer the linear structure of the levels, than the ones in Spongebob Battle For Bikini Bottom!

As a kid the movie game was great but as I got older and went and played it I realized there are so many flaws

I think the best case scenario is that after Rehydrated, THQ Nordic/Purple Lamp make the game for the third Spongebob movie. I'd also really like an extended version of ToS. It was a great game, but seemed pretty short to me.
As for remaking the original Movie game, I think it's a great game but it fits best in the PS2 era. You're right that a lot would have to be changed to have it fit modern game standards (make an overworld, adjust tokens, adjust overall difficulty, rework some levels...) I know they want to make BfBB a smoother/easier experience in terms of dealing with awkward physics and platforming, and the movie game has too much of that. I've never 100%ed the movie game but my boyfriend has, and he had an extremely difficult time with the spongeball and guitar challenges. (He's better at these kind of games than me, he thinks the Kelp vine slide time challenge is easy for reference). That kind of frustrating platforming and such might not go over too well in a modern game. But if they DID rework it, I'd love to see it.
I know why they didn't use a hub world in the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie Game, it's because it's supposed to kinda follow the movie,and in the movie, they didn't go back to Bikini Bottom till the end of the game. So to make a hub world for this game would kinda be weird. It only worked for BOBB because BOBB isn't based off of an episode or movie, so as long as props from the actual show stayed relatively the same, they can do whatever they want. If they remake the movie game, they should make a DLC level that is kinda like a hub world, and you can only get it if you complete the game.

While I would love a Movie Game remake I wouldn't be as excited because yeah BFBB is better lmao. But I'd still be excited because again it's a great tie-in game, and like you said it could be fleshed out. But tbf movie tie-in games kinda have to be linear to follow the film. Although I'll say it's pretty impressive how polished it is considering like you said it took under a year to make. Other note worthy examples I'd say are Spyro 2 and Mega Man 7, the latter taking only 3 MONTHS to make.
