  • Join me on a flying adventure as I talk about 5 things to consider before buying a seaplane. I thought these things were very helpful as a new Seaplane Pilot. I also talk about tips and tricks for making safe water landings in this amphibian seaplane. Flying a general aviation airplane can be quite exciting. Join me on a scenic flight around Lake Norman and Concord North Carolina in N2793P a Lake Buccaneer seaplane. Along the way I make several seaplane water landings and step taxi around Lake Norman as I pretend to be a speedboat in this amphibian seaplane. Get a cockpit view of a seaplane landing and taking off. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast, thinking about getting a seaplane rating, or maybe even buying an amphibious or straight float plane, I hope you enjoy this video. If nothing else, this video shows why I love general aviation amphibian flying boats! Safe Skies & Calm Seas!

Your videos have made me seriously consider going to flight school so I can get my own Lake Buccaneer or Renegade. Actually I have set it as a goal to work toward now. I was out metal detecting on one of those island beaches off the tip of governor's island a month or so ago now and saw you going through some maneuvers. Amazing what amphibious planes like yours can do and the potential of where all it could go, man what a dream!

That's great! Good Luck with flight training. I guarantee your only regret will be not having done it sooner. Safe Skies & Calm Seas!

Mss, Tina. It takes 40+ hours to just get a Single Engine Land rating, Now about $45.000 . then another $6000 for a Single Engine seaplane rating. Then a plane like mine LAKE LA-4-200, set me back $90,000. Annual cost , hanger /insurance/parts and inspection , $4,000 per year. Not trying to discourage you learning to Fly. Brown's Seaplane Training , WinterHaven FL.
Can get you started. Good Luck and never give up. LEARN TO FLY..,

Great form of entertainment and adventure. I have a Searey amphibian with a much lower operating cost whilst fully equipped. I do take exception to enjoying this sport without basic life saving equipment. My passenger and I both have our inflatable life jackets on when doing water operations. Landing on water with the gear down makes for a difficult day. Without a life jacket, a difficult day can lead to a death day. You don't have time to find and don a life jacket in these aircraft. This happened to me last year, I suffered a head injury but I was able to inflate my jacket through the brain fog, after getting out of the broken aircraft. We must remember that this kind of airplane is not simply a boat. Don't leave home without a safety briefing and a life jacket. Oddly enough, many injuries result from lack of a shoulder restraint, mostly because the old ones are too awkward to put on.

N32##. . All of my souls aboard, including myself , have an inflatable life vest. Gear up for a Ground landing is not good either.
Gear down in H2O , will get you ? Killed. Complex rating . $3000 keel repair. Ooop's. Taught me a lesson. Tatoo on inside eyelids. Gear down for a Ground landing.. Arrgh!!!!!

Fun to watch and instructive. I'm looking for a Buccaneer in Canada as one from the US would be too complicated and costly with just the exchange rate and the import paper work. I'm in Quebec and this would surely be the best plane to fly here with all the water we have. Thanks for the videos.

It always amazes me how many seaplane pilots are not wearing a PFD while flying. If something happens that caused the aircraft to invert that is not the time to try to grab a PFD tucked behind the seat while water is entering the cockpit.

Finishing up my Annual Inspection, today. 03/29/2022. Just need to put the seat rails in , seats next , passengers rear seat in.
Then all inspection plates back into place. Since I fly and live in a Saltwater environment. I have to spray the entire hull with
Corrosion-X. Really bad fumes and had to give it a few days to de-fume. So many people want to come flying in 32DQ , Going to complete it , Fire up the Engine, check for any oil leaks , 3 touch and go's around the field and back to the Love of Flying a Boat.

#1 question for anybody buying a seaplane. Has it EVER been flown into saltwater. Sweet Lake Amphib.

................Ah,....I always kind of liked that airplane,.......I dont know why,......It's not exactly ,...one of the grumman cats,...But ,.in a way it is,.....And,... it has its perks i guess,.... I always thought i could design a better one,....( egosentric as I am and all,.).....But this ones nice,...take care of it,.....Thurston,..

Maintnance costs I've realized. What I didn't think of that states would have a bunch of laws and restrictions to lake useage by aircraft... Well I guess half the lakes in CA don't even allow swimming so this should come as no surprise...

Put the Lake Amphib on floats and you will have a useful plane. You’ll be able to see logs BEFORE you hit them, you’ll be able to pull up to a dock instead of putting on waders and it won’t porpoise. Just sayin’.

Maintenance on a boat= Bend over
Maintenance on a plane= How deep would you like it?
Maintenance on a boat plane= IT PUTS THE LOTION ON THE SKIN OR IT GETS THE HOSE AGAIN!
