Definitely your best video yet Jon! I have had a dream to do a floatplane endorsement (as it’s called here in Aus) but very few places offer them let alone let you private hire the aircraft afterward. Looks like so much fun and quite technical when it comes to the step, landing, and taxying.
Beautiful video Jon, stunning intro and a beautiful production of next level proportions. I don't think you can be too hard on yourself at all, from my understanding landing a seaplane is incredibly tough in any circumstances let alone when the wind is whipping up in an unpredictable manner. Full right rudder, yet still being pulled left, engine off and trying to sail back in, just goes to show the completely different skill set required. It looks utterly incredible, but I won't be trying my hand at it any time soon! I'm glad you got to enjoy it and a special mention has to go to the rest of the crew, cameras etc for their sterling work
Excellent video Jon! It's interesting you mentioned your best T/O & alighting being the first ones. That's exactly my experience doing my tailwhhel differences training.
Really enjoying this new content, i.e. listened to the podcast in the car on the way home from work, and then tied it in with this episode on YT. Quality.
Another great video, but you know I am going to give you in to trouble! 😂 It is not a LOCK it is a LOCH, (Law Auch) ill teach you on the next live call... Happy New Year Jon and family 👋
That...was...so...cool. Personally flying a floatplane never really seemed that interesting to me but after watching this video I'll be looking forward to the next installment
I'm not a pilot but I enjoy watching your channel . That was an amazing video, so very interesting. I have taken a float plane ride in New Zealand back in 2012 and absolutely loved it. Thank you for post this.
Awesome video Jon! Really enjoyed this, as it happens G-DRAM is actually in the same hanger as my aircraft right now! Perhaps I need to add a seaplane rating to my goals for 2023!
Hello Jon , maybe one of your best vidéo, with a scotish romantic ambiance !. Great job and great seaplane experience . I've experienced too seaplane in Biscarosse ( PA 18 ) . Aviation joins nautical . What foot! 🤩...
Seaplanes are the bee’s knees. I got my rating last year, and I fly at least twice a month (at Biscarrosse in southwestern France). Watch out, it’s addictive !
The class is known officially as Single Engine Piston (Sea) for seaplane. There are two variants within the class - float is one of them - but differences training is required to fly either variant. Float or hull (flying boat)
Wonderful stuff. Great instructor, and what a beautiful part of the world to experience this magic.

This is the video I've enjoyed the most from you, Jon. It's a step-up in production value and full of value in general. Loved it!
Thank you
Outstanding. Stu Houston and Hamish Mitchell are a class act.
As most have said, one of the best so far Jon! Bravo!
Thanks Dan.

Thanks Cj. Very kind. Don't rule out the seaplane. It's such a thrill.

Probably the best video yet. Its so informative and fun to watch. What a day…
Glad you enjoyed it.
Netflix production values Jon. This was fabulous. 👌

Excellent. Very interesting
Thanks for watching Blair.
Wow what a lucky man you are.
Brilliant Jon. Another cracking video.
Thanks Paul.
Is this the chap from Arthur Williams' TV series?
Fascinating rating and video - thanks for sharing.
The aeroplane has been on an arthur williams series. I don't know if Stewart was the pilot for that.

Do it Matt.
Amazing video Jon, can't wait for the next one, and to get my seaplane rating!
Do it Joe.
Amazing video. Thank you for putting this together!
Pleasure, Alex.
Lovely video, I imagine landing on water is quite alien at first? Looking forwards to part two.
What a hoot, great fun.
I certainly enjoyed it.

Lucky you!
Instructor does everything….. like you’d be an absolute greenhorn
Great stuff Jon. I’ve got a couple of hours on seaplanes one on G DRAM it’s totally amazing flying. Looking forward to the next episode. 👍
You can't beat it.
Isn't it Russell's former floatplane you operate ?
Great video Jon! Yes please!! definitely up for that, looks brilliant fun!! And beautiful Scotland. Do they have accommodation too?
No, but there's a premier inn near the airport, and plenty of others within easy reach. I expect they'll help you with lifts, to/from too.
Great video Jon. How many Seaplane landing locations are there in the UK ?
What a nice video! Congratulations on your experience.
One question:
What do you think he meant by saying average to sub average?
These type of videos would be much more enjoyable and beneficial if the ATC was muted (for the camera capture).
Can you help me with that?
I had no clue that you could taxi and take off with these tiny wheels! But you can't land on those right? Right?
Oh, yes you can!!
"It's a little draggy".........yes it's flying boat 🙂
enjoy it so nice please can you send me this school link
It's in the video description.
I'm no expert but thats not a seaplane, it's a floatplane, seaplanes have boat hulls, floatplanes are landplanes with floats.
I agree with your first statement.
