Notes from a gnome mage who just completed after about 20 attempts: CAUTION: This is one of the hardest things you can do in Classic WoW, harder than any raid (in my opinion). Be Patient, you will need about 50g to complete it the first time, based off of major mana and light feeather. Between the 2nd and third rope works best, TURN ON RP WALK. Don't be afraid to look at the rope when you jumping, instead of strafing. Loot is pretty shitty, not sure how he expects to make 200g an hour unless running someone for a fee.
Two changes made everything a lot easier for me; 1: Use Noggenfogger to get slow fall from the start. Will still have slow fall effect for the second jump when you are mounted. 2: Skip the last croc pack before kill phase, pull the second to last with counterspell and then LIP. A little bit less XP but way more reliable since I died many times at that spot.
You are a hero i made a shammy got to 51 wasnt in a guild wasnt having fun and quit then randomly i saw your videos and got inspired to make a mage as i usually dont have many friends to play with so soloing was very attractive for me
For people having trouble with the root blink here's a tip: you have a better shot at making it when you are at the top of water (no breath indicator) and char is NOT pointed down. You must also be RIGHT at the root, if you are before it you will only blink up to the root and not through it. Hope this helps, love your content arlaeus, keep on keeping on!
I hate to add this, but there is some information that is COMPLETELY missed in this guide. 1. The serpents you swim by on the left at the very beginning can EASILY aggro to you by chance. Sometimes you will sneak past them by hugging the wall, but other times they will aggro. 2. The blink through the root is hit or miss and never explained. 3. If you can't make it to the first reset spot and miss the berserker pathing, you can wait until it pats back to its spot, but the second berserker near the tigers may not be on the right timing and you will aggro it if you have the wrong path timing.
If anyone is having problems with this, it can be split in two pulls, pull everything up until you teleport through the tree, then run up to the bridge and kill off everything you have pulled. Then pull the rest, and kill. That way you won't have as many mobs on you at the same time when you need to use lip and if you fail the timing you can still survive.
I need to thank you so so sooo very much for explaining about the female toon jump. I was freaking frustrated about not making the jump consistently. As soon as I heard what you said about the female jump I went and tried it and haven't missed a jump yet! You made this mage a happy camper. Now I don't feel derpy. Great job on the explanations.
@@justincole6639 I figured you need to swim right up into the tree and then just blink and you will go through it. And if you die before that make sure you have run increase enchant on your boots
TIPS : Care with smallies tiger, they can go away from your pack when they are low HP to seek help from other tiger in ZG (not the one you have in the pack already). 45sec after he left, He did bring me 3 tiger + 3 troll, my pull was 40% HP, rip :D

In the video of big pull in Mara with consumables you dont reccomend people trying that way to leveling because they will spend so much time on wiping. Do you recommend us to try our first ZG runs at 58? Do you thinks it's east? Even that we have to die few times
Mara is a whole other story than ZG. Learning the ZG pull is not hard. I'd suggest watching a bunch of other videos beforehand, see how other people does it even as lvl 60 with epic mount. A lot of good ideas and tips that can help you spend less time learning the ZG pull as 58.
At the tree at 6:57, if you go to the corner where the root and tree meet, there is a reset spot. It can be handy, when mobs are close and you would not survive, or when you fall off the bridge and want to reset instead of risking death.
Do you happen to have a good suggestion for a hybrid build that allows you to boost mara + zg? the gold farmers have overrun my server with mara runs and i'd like to be able to swap between the two. zg seems really nice as the solo gph seems like it's one of the best things to do as a mage.
I'm currently running a Blizzard build, with 32 points in Frost (Got Barrier, ignored Shatter) and 19 points in Arcane (Got Arcane Meditation, 5 in Magic Absorption, 5 in Arcane Concentration) I use it to boost SM and solo farm ZG, has served me quite well so far
As a gnome, I imagine I will need Elixir of Giant Growth for this. Leveling my 2nd mage now and really looking forward to try this :D I didn't enjoy ZG farming a lot on my main, but now that you explained how the patrolling berzerker works in the beginning, it doesn't seem so RNG anymore. Thanks for your videos, but there are many other details missing there (such as the blink under the tree). Also, there is a good chance that some mobs will keep coming to you over the bridge even if you are on the rope (you have to go down and up again to make them reset to the other side). I made many times, many random things happened and they just decided to kill me... (Gnome mage 58)
guys, if you're struggling with this, try break the pull up into sections. after you pull tigers you can go to bridge for a kill phase. then you can practice second half of the pull
lvl 58-60 using ZG coins turn in quest @ zg island. Fastest/Cheapest way = buy 137coin of each type that form a set, (most coins are like 20-40s, so 1 turn is about 60s-1.2g)X 137 = 82g-164g total cost to go from 58-60 in about 10minuets!! You will need an addon that answers mpc interactions. i believe its about 600exp per turn in and you get the zandalar honor tokens which you can turn in for additional rep and use for purchasing shoulder enchants/zg 2hr flasks. I did this on my Night Elf so no +10% human bonus, but most amazing feeling getting to skip over the last 2 levels.
definitely doable... my first run ever, did perfect pull, jumping back and fort on the bridge... two mobs got too close and killed me :-/ since than I can't do the pull. Tried to run in without reset, seen pass first berserk, started pull run into another berserk :D. Died on the way to safe spot ( running through mounted works 95% time ) . Preparing to jump from the safe spot down, shimmed a little to the left to adjust ... mechanostaider walks down the side on its own... :-/. Missed jump from the safe spot flown too much to the right, hit the wall and dismounted in water... ( there is no way to mount after that you will agro crocks ) ... now I'm locked out :D
I tried this today @lvl 57 (only tried 1 pack) and it was horrible bc. a) You need to get past the snakes and b) I couldn't even kill that 1 pack bc they wouldn't stack (resists) or I would fall off the bridge. Any recommendations? Male Gnome. But as always - great vid!
Magister etc isnt called "Tier 0.5". It's "Tier 0". Tier 0.5 is the upgraded epic set from Patch 1.10 (also known as Dungeon Set 2): Magister -> Sorcerer. Just Fyi :)
Great guide, learned how to do the pulls with this one BUT I can't get the blizzard phase to work in any way. I was testing clearcasting triggering methods the other day and I believe I have broken the talent with my tests as I never get them anymore. I run out of mana before any of the mobs reach 80% health.. And I always have issues with mobs ignoring the blizzard effect. There is always 1 croc per pack which completely ignores blizzard. They just speed past and get only one tick of the blizzard no matter how much I spam blizzard rank1 with the jumps to stack them up. I'm pretty sure this is large server issue and spell batching doing me over.
Hi, Buddy! Great vids, enjoying them! One question though, when I get up to the tigers, sometimes there is a second berserker there, which pulls after I aggro the tigers, the first one I've made sure is passed before I make the initial jump. Don't think this was mentioned in the video, so not sure if it's just luck or not if he's there - I've had him twice now!
if it's not a fresh instance that tend to happen, you either need to reset or use a hunter/shaman to eagle eye/far sight to check the phasing of the two berserkers.
at 7:12 make sure you have a blink ready for this so you can get past the tree root. otherwise you gana die! i messed up and found that out the hard way haha. great video btw. been watching a lot of your videos lately. awesome stuff. keep em coming :)

Just a tip: practice ledge jumping before attempting these runs ( SM Cath, ZF, ZG. Hydrospawn for the level 55 water quest ) Most deaths happen trying these jumps. And the most important: thanks @Arlaeus9491 for this terrific content. Not only do you make good guides, but you also boost our confidence as you show us, it can be done with little stuff. 😎😎😎
Hey, I'm really struggling with jumping here as an undead female... Tried elixir of growth and deviate delight, but seems human female suffer from the same issue. Got suggestions on what I could try to help out the jumping a bit? Or do I have to do CoC method for more reliable kills?
Is this worth learning on your first character @ 58? Because it will cost 8 gold+ per try to learn. Or better get first character to 60 then learn the no LIP run and use to boost new chars?
Jumping against the bamboo next to the water at 6:43 actually causes the mobs to stop. Similar to the mara elemental pull where you jump against the wall :D
Absolutely love seeing the joy this brings to your face, you're having a blast the whole time and that's only the product of hard work and deaths I'm sure! Really excited to try this as I thought you may need epic mount for this, but clearly this is not the case :). Arlaeus, i finally got this somewhat down on my geared female undead mage. However because of the camera positioning i kill the mobs on the left instead of on the bridge because it gives me more time to make the jump if i fail cuz its harder for me. Is it alot faster kiting the crocs on the bridge instead of the left of the bridge? Thanks
6:53 are you straifing against the wall?? I was running angular straight against it which somehow led to me falling into the water, what killed me twice. However i managed that part before, kinda odd that the last two runs this happened... do you have an explination for it?^^
Great video! I think you're missing 1 pack of crocs that you could pull by running up and away from the temple, slowfall jump across and back around to where you blinked through the tree root.
If you have empty trinket slots you could buy the arcanist's cookbook to get the fire resist/mp5 trinket or get the nifty stopwatch from badlands for the 30min cooldown sprint. The cookbook is mad cheap cuz it's not that good, and the stopwatch is prob like 5g for the frost oil and gyrochronatum needed to turn in.
I did not realize you could do ZG farm at 58. Definitely trying this one! If you happen to see this, how difficult would you say this farm is compared to ZF GY in mid 40s?
So i am having a LOT of trouble using Cone of Cold. When i do the jump turn move it's blasting forward missing all the mobs behind me. Is there a delay that i should be taking into account?
Great video, I can't wait to practice them all. I'm currently leveling a mage, but I'm quite struggling in the levels up to 42 to start farming ZF. Currently I'm level 33, and there are not really good farm spots at the moment. Frost/AoE spec is also quite slow when I use it to quest. Do you have recommendations on how to level to 42? Boosting is sadly not an option. I'm on Alliance.
How does he so perfectly jump on and off the bridge rope? If I use my keys my guy runs off. If I use my mouse to aim and run I can only do it facing the rope. I wanna be able to jump on and off while facing forward like he does. Any tips? New mage. First char

Secondly, when Im on that bridge facing the mobs, do you just jump and briefly touch "Q" to get on the rope and then "E" to get off? is that what you mean by "strafing"? or do I need to change how im moving? Sorry for such a noob question. I've spent like 18 hours trying, dying and repeating at 58 on this. I MUST GET IT
A berserker keeps killing me near the tiger spot @5:04, why didn't you mention that this run is only possible when it's fresh after the reset ?! I died 3/6 runs due to this berserker.
i've spent over 12 hours and 100+ gold on mats to get this down and now that i consistently get to the bridge it seems like no matter how far away from me they are, some of the mobs will just randomly not change direction when i jump on and off the rope. Whether its the beginning of the kill phase or I'm almost done, a handful won't switch and will kill me.
really wish there was some explanation on the blinking through the root, ive tried 5-6 times now, just blink in place and everything catches up and slotters me : /
This is where i'm dying too. I imagine you've either figured it out or given up since it's been 5 months, but make sure you are physically touching the tree before you blink. If you aren't, you will just blink in place.
I've been looking everywhere and haven't seen anything, is there a specific time window to start the pull in order to avoid the soulflayers on the southwest corner? I'm going sub 2 minutes and always run into them after the LIP nova.
This took me almost 15 hours to get down. And while I'm confident I do in fact have it down, i honestly believe its too fickle to do consistently. Like he said, the cubs will run sometimes, and you pretty much just have to pray that you have enough mana to arcane explosion them to death. But also I've had random crocs just not switch pathing when jumping to and from the rope. And as far as profit, I'm barely putting a dent into the gold I put into the mats required to run it. Not saying it can't be done, but I would love to see him do this 5-10 times in a row.
Could you do a short video on how to jump cone of cold. I cant seem to find a decent one and you explain things really easily. I'm currently levelling a mage on a second account. Getting ready for when tbc eventually gets released and can self boost a shaman on my main account.
He did one a while back in a mara run guide, something to do with mouse camera settings. Jump, spin while holding mouse 2, coc, then release mouse 2 which spins ur dude back around so he keeps running.
you need to change the way your camera follows your character. I believe its set to smart camera as default, but you need to vhange it to "never" so it does not automatically reset to facing forward. While running, face your camera backwards so you're looking at the pack behind you while your character is still running straight. then you jump, right click on the mouse so your character faces the pack and then you go for the CoC. as you land you turn the camera around to face forward again. he does this in his mara 1 run guide iirc
Luckily mana pots only cost 30s on gehennas. Just did my first 2 runs successfully and im stoked. Another tip for beginners: DO NOT let the mobs get too close on the bridge, they may attack you even if you get on the railing. Also, use rank 1 mage armor, as you dont need the mr.
If you dont wanna deal with boosting people and all the headache that can come with that. Is this still the best way to earn gold? Biju price is prolly around 5g now or something. and coins 50s. What is you guys experiences with that?
@arleaus. I am trying to learn this now for 5 hours straight. I just learn the pull. Finally can do the pull good. But the problem is the hooktooth frenzy is attacking me now from the river on the bridge? How to avoid this ?
Thanks, very helpful, but I'm a bit afraid to pull that many packs at once. On the other hand doing 1-2 packs at a time, which I'm doing now (undergeared mage alt) is a bit slow. Maybe someday you could do a video where you pull packs of 2-3? :)
Hey Arlaeus, I've been trying this for about a week now and everything with the pull goes pretty well now. The current issue I am having is no matter what I do when 1 or all the mobs decide to say screw it and when I jump on the rope instead of pathing away they just run up to me and kill me. Is there a fix to this? I've watched many of your vids and can't seem to find anything that touches on this. Any tips here would be appreciated.
Been doing a modified version of this, pulling 3 packs and getting great XP rested. Was getting very frustrated with some mobs hitting me from below (fish!) But Cloudkeepers just dropped, so.
I dont get it. Do you just try this stuff all day? You are THE person for figuring out how to solo farm any dungeon. Mind is blown. Subbing to you on twitch is the least I can do for saving myself days of /played

Do everything right in the pull, get to the bridge, the first dozen jumps work great and then it suddenly stops working and I just die. Thanks for the guide but looks like I'm just gonna go back to normal pulls because this one is too frustrating.
hey arleus, is it possible for a 60 mage to aggro all mobs from ZF GY, do most of the work killing, then he HS when mobs are like 20%, then the 60 mage HS (leaves instance somehow) and u finish the mobs (as a 42 mage) and get full XP?

I would like to mention that enabling RP walk when jumping is crucial. it makes the jumps 10 times easier.

I tried this today @lvl 57 (only tried 1 pack) and it was horrible bc. a) You need to get past the snakes and b) I couldn't even kill that 1 pack bc they wouldn't stack (resists) or I would fall off the bridge. Any recommendations? Male Gnome. But as always - great vid!
Magister etc isnt called "Tier 0.5". It's "Tier 0". Tier 0.5 is the upgraded epic set from Patch 1.10 (also known as Dungeon Set 2): Magister -> Sorcerer. Just Fyi :)

Great guide, learned how to do the pulls with this one BUT I can't get the blizzard phase to work in any way. I was testing clearcasting triggering methods the other day and I believe I have broken the talent with my tests as I never get them anymore. I run out of mana before any of the mobs reach 80% health.. And I always have issues with mobs ignoring the blizzard effect. There is always 1 croc per pack which completely ignores blizzard. They just speed past and get only one tick of the blizzard no matter how much I spam blizzard rank1 with the jumps to stack them up. I'm pretty sure this is large server issue and spell batching doing me over.
maybe i'm dumb but why shatter for this build? wouldn't arcane meditation be more helpful especially for sub-60s with shit gear?
Not applicable here specifically, but flamestrike+cone is a quick way to finish things off and speed things along.
Hi, Buddy! Great vids, enjoying them! One question though, when I get up to the tigers, sometimes there is a second berserker there, which pulls after I aggro the tigers, the first one I've made sure is passed before I make the initial jump. Don't think this was mentioned in the video, so not sure if it's just luck or not if he's there - I've had him twice now!

if it's not a fresh instance that tend to happen, you either need to reset or use a hunter/shaman to eagle eye/far sight to check the phasing of the two berserkers.

Just a tip: practice ledge jumping before attempting these runs ( SM Cath, ZF, ZG. Hydrospawn for the level 55 water quest ) Most deaths happen trying these jumps.

He got very unlucky there, that part is the easiest part of the run, I haven't died once from it

Hey, I'm really struggling with jumping here as an undead female... Tried elixir of growth and deviate delight, but seems human female suffer from the same issue. Got suggestions on what I could try to help out the jumping a bit? Or do I have to do CoC method for more reliable kills?

Is this worth learning on your first character @ 58? Because it will cost 8 gold+ per try to learn. Or better get first character to 60 then learn the no LIP run and use to boost new chars?
Jumping against the bamboo next to the water at 6:43 actually causes the mobs to stop. Similar to the mara elemental pull where you jump against the wall :D
Absolutely love seeing the joy this brings to your face, you're having a blast the whole time and that's only the product of hard work and deaths I'm sure! Really excited to try this as I thought you may need epic mount for this, but clearly this is not the case :). Also, as far as timing goes, do you think carrot on a stick would create any issues or just help in every aspect? I can only see it helping! Thanks again!

Arlaeus, i finally got this somewhat down on my geared female undead mage. However because of the camera positioning i kill the mobs on the left instead of on the bridge because it gives me more time to make the jump if i fail cuz its harder for me. Is it alot faster kiting the crocs on the bridge instead of the left of the bridge? Thanks
6:53 are you straifing against the wall?? I was running angular straight against it which somehow led to me falling into the water, what killed me twice. However i managed that part before, kinda odd that the last two runs this happened... do you have an explination for it?^^

Great video! I think you're missing 1 pack of crocs that you could pull by running up and away from the temple, slowfall jump across and back around to where you blinked through the tree root.
If you have empty trinket slots you could buy the arcanist's cookbook to get the fire resist/mp5 trinket or get the nifty stopwatch from badlands for the 30min cooldown sprint. The cookbook is mad cheap cuz it's not that good, and the stopwatch is prob like 5g for the frost oil and gyrochronatum needed to turn in.
I did not realize you could do ZG farm at 58. Definitely trying this one! If you happen to see this, how difficult would you say this farm is compared to ZF GY in mid 40s?
So i am having a LOT of trouble using Cone of Cold. When i do the jump turn move it's blasting forward missing all the mobs behind me. Is there a delay that i should be taking into account?
best thing to do is jump turn and wait half a second to a second mid air then cast CoC

Great video, I can't wait to practice them all. I'm currently leveling a mage, but I'm quite struggling in the levels up to 42 to start farming ZF. Currently I'm level 33, and there are not really good farm spots at the moment. Frost/AoE spec is also quite slow when I use it to quest. Do you have recommendations on how to level to 42? Boosting is sadly not an option. I'm on Alliance.

How does he so perfectly jump on and off the bridge rope? If I use my keys my guy runs off. If I use my mouse to aim and run I can only do it facing the rope. I wanna be able to jump on and off while facing forward like he does. Any tips? New mage. First char

Secondly, when Im on that bridge facing the mobs, do you just jump and briefly touch "Q" to get on the rope and then "E" to get off? is that what you mean by "strafing"? or do I need to change how im moving? Sorry for such a noob question. I've spent like 18 hours trying, dying and repeating at 58 on this. I MUST GET IT
A berserker keeps killing me near the tiger spot @5:04, why didn't you mention that this run is only possible when it's fresh after the reset ?! I died 3/6 runs due to this berserker.

Does Noggenfogger not get it done on the jumps with a 40 mount?
Oh maybe there's no actual safe way to swim past the crocs at the beginning so noggenfogger is not possible?
Honest question. How many mages do you have?

i've spent over 12 hours and 100+ gold on mats to get this down and now that i consistently get to the bridge it seems like no matter how far away from me they are, some of the mobs will just randomly not change direction when i jump on and off the rope. Whether its the beginning of the kill phase or I'm almost done, a handful won't switch and will kill me.
how often can you do ZG farm? is it like 2 times per week as per the zone reset?
really wish there was some explanation on the blinking through the root, ive tried 5-6 times now, just blink in place and everything catches up and slotters me : /
This is where i'm dying too. I imagine you've either figured it out or given up since it's been 5 months, but make sure you are physically touching the tree before you blink. If you aren't, you will just blink in place.

I've been looking everywhere and haven't seen anything, is there a specific time window to start the pull in order to avoid the soulflayers on the southwest corner? I'm going sub 2 minutes and always run into them after the LIP nova.
This took me almost 15 hours to get down. And while I'm confident I do in fact have it down, i honestly believe its too fickle to do consistently. Like he said, the cubs will run sometimes, and you pretty much just have to pray that you have enough mana to arcane explosion them to death. But also I've had random crocs just not switch pathing when jumping to and from the rope. And as far as profit, I'm barely putting a dent into the gold I put into the mats required to run it. Not saying it can't be done, but I would love to see him do this 5-10 times in a row.
Could you do a short video on how to jump cone of cold. I cant seem to find a decent one and you explain things really easily. I'm currently levelling a mage on a second account. Getting ready for when tbc eventually gets released and can self boost a shaman on my main account.
He did one a while back in a mara run guide, something to do with mouse camera settings. Jump, spin while holding mouse 2, coc, then release mouse 2 which spins ur dude back around so he keeps running.

you need to change the way your camera follows your character. I believe its set to smart camera as default, but you need to vhange it to "never" so it does not automatically reset to facing forward. While running, face your camera backwards so you're looking at the pack behind you while your character is still running straight. then you jump, right click on the mouse so your character faces the pack and then you go for the CoC. as you land you turn the camera around to face forward again. he does this in his mara 1 run guide iirc
Luckily mana pots only cost 30s on gehennas. Just did my first 2 runs successfully and im stoked.
Another tip for beginners: DO NOT let the mobs get too close on the bridge, they may attack you even if you get on the railing.
Also, use rank 1 mage armor, as you dont need the mr.
If you dont wanna deal with boosting people and all the headache that can come with that. Is this still the best way to earn gold? Biju price is prolly around 5g now or something. and coins 50s. What is you guys experiences with that?
@arleaus. I am trying to learn this now for 5 hours straight. I just learn the pull. Finally can do the pull good. But the problem is the hooktooth frenzy is attacking me now from the river on the bridge? How to avoid this ?
Thanks, very helpful, but I'm a bit afraid to pull that many packs at once. On the other hand doing 1-2 packs at a time, which I'm doing now (undergeared mage alt) is a bit slow. Maybe someday you could do a video where you pull packs of 2-3? :)

I'm doing the run but the LIP is being really inconsistent, I still get some hits in and it's enough to kill :( NB I am using cancel aura.
How did you change the color of your shield Weak Aura? I try this with NaNShield the color just doesnt change for me..
What add on do you have that show the clear casting proc and the amount of shield you have?

Hey Arlaeus, I've been trying this for about a week now and everything with the pull goes pretty well now. The current issue I am having is no matter what I do when 1 or all the mobs decide to say screw it and when I jump on the rope instead of pathing away they just run up to me and kill me. Is there a fix to this? I've watched many of your vids and can't seem to find anything that touches on this. Any tips here would be appreciated.
If it's only one mob you should frost bolt rank 1 to slow him, then let the rest of pack come to him. Then rejump blizz when they stacked up.

Been doing a modified version of this, pulling 3 packs and getting great XP rested. Was getting very frustrated with some mobs hitting me from below (fish!) But Cloudkeepers just dropped, so.

I dont get it. Do you just try this stuff all day? You are THE person for figuring out how to solo farm any dungeon. Mind is blown. Subbing to you on twitch is the least I can do for saving myself days of /played

Try to look for one called nan shield.. You can always change it from the incremental segmented look to a standard horizontal bar just like your hp

Do everything right in the pull, get to the bridge, the first dozen jumps work great and then it suddenly stops working and I just die. Thanks for the guide but looks like I'm just gonna go back to normal pulls because this one is too frustrating.
hey arleus, is it possible for a 60 mage to aggro all mobs from ZF GY, do most of the work killing, then he HS when mobs are like 20%, then the 60 mage HS (leaves instance somehow) and u finish the mobs (as a 42 mage) and get full XP?
Id just get to 44 brother alot easier

Nope, as long as the lvl60 was there during pull, the xp will be lower. Tried it on my 42 mage. Got a friend to boost him to 44, then easypeasy to 52
