  • Sailing from Rio Dulce to Roatan, Utila, Guanaja and onto the Florida Keys. This is about the journey, the weather, the boat and the adventure. We return to the USA after 4 and half months away. See us diving, snorkeling, in bad weather, cleaning the boat... AND see two other Nordhavn 62's. 6229 and 6232.... Do you know the names of those 62's? Watch the video as we catch up with them also.

    I gotta say that I truly enjoyed y'all's adventure/journey sharing them with excellent video work. I like how you show all of the daily life as a motor cruiser. You show cruising (that I like in all kinds of sea conditions) what it is like at ports or marinas wherever you were, the scuba shots, taking trips to different sites of interest, showing the towns that you visited, and the sun rises/sunsets. Keep up the awesome work. What are your future plans? 🤠

    Great videos. You mention in the video that the depth while crossing the Rio Dulce bar was 2 1/2 feet. Is that the depth under the keel or the actual depth? Can a sailboat that has a 9 1/2 feet draft be towed over that bar?

    • @MVKariwaN62
      @MVKariwaN62  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, that's the depth under the keel. It eventually became zero, but very soft mud. We were drawing about 7ft. Yes a sailboat of 9 1/2ft could make the bar. They would attach a line to mast top, and careen (pull the boat over to the side) and have one boat hauling and another keeping you tilted. There are 9ft draft sailboats up the river.

      @@MVKariwaN62 I love what nordhavn has built for themselves I'm really into Bering yachts they're built as ocean-going small ships

    • @MVKariwaN62
      @MVKariwaN62  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Nordhavn have built over 600 vessels. I think Bering haven't done 50? What I will say is that is that the block coefficient of a Bering looks to be high, ie they have a very full hull shape underwater. The Bering 65 seems heavier than a N62, with less draft. which implies a fat hull. Modern boats including some Nordhavns seem to have given up their seaworthyness and ride for comforts inside... pretty and pretty uncomfortable ....

    • @darploin5071
      @darploin5071 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MVKariwaN62 I'm not saying nordhavn sore bad yachts they are really good also bearing is less than 10 years old but they have made more mega then nordhavn. In the model N 120 there was a major court case in Canada over that one and I think the fiasco happened because too much male pride and testosterone was put in the mix and that's why I wound up in court instead of being dealt with by nordhavn it was a brand-new ship and the owner rejected it

    That is such a nice looking trawler. At 14:23 watching Kariwa from outside is a great shot and @ 11:25 looking at that awesome diesel engine - wow. Then those shots of the deck as you motor are nice. In fact, I wonder how a channel would do if you had a live feed streaming as you motored 24/7. Just a HD image with engine sounds and a front or rear video stream. You may get a lot of views as it is strangely comforting to watch and the engine has a soothing / memorizing sound. Of course you would need lots of internet bandwidth, but if it could be done you would be one of the first to offer it. There are people with millions of views doing this of their fireplace or views out a cottage window.

      Great idea. Would we do it on TH-cam?

    • @michaeltca3103
      @michaeltca3103 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MVKariwaN62 Yes, this should be doable on youtube as I have seen others stream live. If possible, the ideal set-up would be one camera facing the front, one camera facing the rear, and one with a view of the engine room with all those lovely diesel sounds. Although you may well be able to hear the engine from the rear view camera. There are increasingly popular "white noise" videos of rain or what not, and that engine would work wonders. But I am not aware of anyone so far being able to stream long form content of sailing/motoring as I suspect that the bandwidth issue has stopped them. You have no idea how many people would love to see this (remember, no music sound overs - just normal natural sounds of waves crashing, engine noise, rain etc.) and no fast forwarding etc.
