Island Greeter is an active and lightly used original owner Nordhavn 62 in exceptional condition. Two years of planning and construction, getting all of the details right, merged into fifteen years of cruising, primarily during the spring and summer months up in the Pacific Northwest. The owners also purchased and own the slip at Skyline marina in Anacortes - you can purchase a ready-to-go Nordhavn 62 and acquire the slip to give you a home base.
Hull number 34 of 39 built, she had the benefit of seeing the selections made by predecessor hulls which dramatically improved the overall package. Wide body saloon for more interior space (with two larger windows, a nicer feel than the original three). Oval vs. round portlights. Custom fiberglass dry stack mast with antennas. File drawers with metal glides. Stern bustle which adds waterline offshore and provides a convenient dinghy dock platform with the small generator inside.
Inside is gorgeous. Gloss cherry woodwork, rich and exquisite. The hallway forward connects to the engine room, owner stateroom, guest stateroom and spectacular VIP forward with an inviting island berth. Each stateroom has a convenient head and shower access. The pilothouse has a well-planned forward instrument dash, settee with table and the practical office with stool.
On deck she has a centerline hydraulic crane for launching two dinghies. The upper aft deck is ideal for getting outside, out of the wind and relaxing with a mug of coffee or a glass of wine. Her machinery is dependable. Lugger main engine with dry stack exhaust, Lugger wing engine, two Northern Lights generators, ABT active fin stabilizers, hydraulic windlass and thrusters. Lifeline AGM batteries.
The Nordhavn 62 design is a marvelous offshore passage maker. She provides a very safe, solid and smooth ride. Island Greeter has been well cared and always given the best service. She has spent many summers exploring the Pacific northwest and is ready to head right back out to sea.

Another brilliant tour Jeff, I was getting a little worried that you haven't posted anything for a while. I'm very impressed with your tours of all the norhavn's you have on your channel as you are so knowledgeable about the whole build of these boats!
John: Thank you very much. The JMYS team has been on a lot of airplanes doing a lot of surveys and listings with clients. The videos are fun, but they are by no means our primary business so we don't post to a schedule like channels featuring people out cruising, we try to post when we have something new to share. Could be three weeks in a row, then nothing for two months. Thank you for hanging with me! Nordhavn is a great brand, but not the only choice, perhaps the best resale, but not everyone needs the capability of a Nordhavn for the type of cruising they want to do.
An amazing tour of a wonderful vessel! We especially love the fact that the VIP and Owners cabin are pretty much equivalent.
If, somehow, I hit the MegaMillions $600M+ jackpot this week I swear THIS VESSEL WILL BE MINE!
Jeff, as always you do an amazing job showing these vessels to everyone. I know the editing and tech work (like the You Are Here graphic) take time and effort and I appreciate them very much.

Lovely boat. Ready to go anywhere safely and in comfort. The nice thing about the price is that you could own and operate this vessel and not loose much in depreciation as long as it was well maintained.
Anthony: Great comment, thank you. She is really in wonderful condition, actively operated and carefully maintained. The purchase price always is a starting point on the spending, but I don't think there is anything missing on Island Greeter, but if there is and you need it, would probably not be too expensive to add. She is "ready to go".
Another fabulous tour by Jeff! I've been patiently waiting (sort of) for this tour since you posted the listing on your site! As always I appreciate you including dimensions in your reviews, very helpful. This is by far the best laid out and optioned N62 I've come across. Thanks also for the look at the forward machinery spaces, something I've noticed that you focus on on other boats.
Keep these up and one day you might entice me to move up from my NT42...

I really love high gloss old style wooden interiors....it sort of has a romance about it. 15:14 she really does look like a North Atlantic fishing vessel! Some lucky lucky people are owning and enjoying these magnificent boats. What an absolute privilege!! God damn....Nordhavn, Kadey Krogen, Flemming.....just wonderful wonderful boats. The thing is, the people who own and often live on these boats seem to totally NOT take them for granted....they ADORE their boats and know how fortunate they are. Which is a wonderful thing.
Stephen: The Nordhavn 62 is ocean crossing capable and shares the good rugged looks of traditional fishing trawlers, but the Ta Shing yard in Taiwan does an extraordinary job with the interior - from the gorgeous woodwork to the careful systems installations. Agree, this is a wonderful thing for those fortunate enough to take on ownership of a beautiful recreational trawler

I do love an aft pilot house. This is the upper end of couple operated vessels
Frank: The aft pilothouse has many advantages. They moved from sail to Nordhavn and run almost exclusively as a couple. I have clients on much larger trawlers who are also owner operators - you have to slowly learn and build up confidence, it's not a step aboard and take off unless you have the experience. The Nordhavn 62 is truly a classic.
Thanks for the tour Jeff! That's a bigger boat than I've dreamed of but what a beauty! Parting with such a yacht must truly be the definition of sweet-sorrow.
As an aside, do you know if the Trawler Fest in Baltimore still on for the Fall of 22? All ticket sales bring me to an event offline page, giving the impression of it being cancelled.

I like aa Aft owners cabin. 62’ is the biggest for a couple. Even then, its a full time job. Not for the ‘faint of heart’ or the ‘Slim of Wallet’! Haha
Frank: Owner operator experience, judgement and budget factor in to the "biggest" size. Many cruising couples are handling much larger trawlers quite capably. I like your "slim of wallet" - guess you could put it on a credit card and get the airline miles!

Could the great loop be done in 2 parts on this boat by going both directions to the middle where the limited height bridge exists? I have looked at Kadey Krogan, Nordhavn and Selene. I have looked at semi displacement and full. I always, always come back to Nordhavn. I've boated for 50 years inland on small boats, but a big water boat is a big decision. If one wanted just one boat for their retirement which would it be?
Will: The dry stack fiberglass stack is not easy to disassemble and I don't know what the pilothouse roof height is from the waterline. I was told years ago that a 62 had done the Loop, but it seems like it would be an expensive modification, and frankly, this design would rather cross oceans than duck bridges. If you want a Nordhavn, what about a coastal pilot? 35 and 59 - both worth looking into. There are only 30 or so good brands to consider to it's such a huge inventory of sizes and layouts to draw from that I can't possibly answer your question via a YT comment. Does that bustle hatch take on water in following seas? Does it need sealed off during passages? Very nice boat, Jeff :)
J. Davids: The bustle hatch is dogged and gasketed. It is not "waterproof" but does a very good job of keeping the area dry (and there is an automatic bilge pump in the bustle chamber as well). The deck part of the bustle can become covered with water, but it isn't trapped so slides back over the sides. Thank you for your question and for watching.
If you have full access inside the bulbous bow it just calls out for observation ports a-la RV Calypso

You can tell the evolution of the 62 because the one year in right now looks like when the more modern Nordhavan I'm wondering with the very last model of the the very last hull and to see that one and see how much it differs from Hull number one
Dar: the 62 had many improvements over time. Island Greeter is hull 34, the last hull built was hull 38. Thank you for your note
Does having only a walkway on one side cause any big issues with docking or handling?
I'm looking to charter one in a few years. Possibly buy one if finances work out.
Reno: With hydraulic bow and stern thrusters you almost don't need any side decks! Kidding of course, but it does make it very easy to position. Two side decks was an option, but the majority of the time starboard to is preferred and the interior volume gained by pushing the saloon out the extra walkway distance provides better interior accommodations. It's a preference, a choice, but I believe most 62's are widebody (one walking side deck). Feel free to direct call or email me if you want to discuss further.
I have heard mixed reviews on stabalizers. Some people claim they are more trouble than they are worth and always need work. What are your thoughts on that?
Myron: I think the people to ask are the owners of the trawlers and I'm sure you will find a unanimous endorsement for stabilization underway. Choices are another part - passive like bilge keels or paravanes or, active using fins, gyros, water ballast, rotors, and maybe I have missed some alternatives. They are worth every penny and, like any system, require attention and maintenance.

Excellent tour as usual. This is my favorite brand.... gorgeous finishes. I just dont like the white gray sterile interiors of so many new boats.
Tom: Kadey Krogen is an exceptional brand in both quality construction and smooth ride offshore. Sometimes the more traditional, tried and true is more appealing.
Tom: My first reply was in the wrong place, thought you were commenting on our new Kadey Krogen 58 video. Nordhavn is the leader in this category. The contemporary styling on newer boats does not have the same feel as those that highlight the deep wood finishes. This 62, Island Greeter has a gorgeous interior.

Can it be used for small freight deliveries on a coastal route? That would help pay the cost of owning one.
jga: I am not aware of any owners of 62s putting their boats into service as you suggest. Most enjoy cruising. Putting a boat like this into commercial service may require some permits or licensing depending upon where you are doing this and what you are transporting.

I always wondered about this bit of nautical terminology. Its spelled saloon, but pronounced salon? Is that right?
2515: I think the traditional spelling is saloon (two o's) which is how we spell it, but I do pronounce it salon. I don't think either is wrong, but a purist may correct me. It's not worth debating. Thank you for watching.

Is it true . If the Boat cost you 3 million , It will cost you 10 per cent ( 300,000 ) a year to maintain them give or take a per cent.
Martin: The rule of thumb is 10% of the purchase cost annually. No definitive way to generalize, "it depends". So many variables and levels of care. That is a safe number for budgeting, but it is normally much less annually once you get the boat caught up with maintenance. And, by the way, Island Greeter is available for much less than $3 million

A 62 is about as big as a couple could run
Frank: Most couples don't need more than a 62, but plenty of couples are out cruising on much larger Nordhavns. Experience and familiarity with systems, navigation, etc. let you stretch the limits

I love my Jeff, I don't care for the boat one iota, top heavy, one side passage only; and crawling around in the engine room, sigh. And what's with the high gloss reflections on everything? That would be a nightmare on a night cruise. Give me my Kadey.
Mr Cobb: Thank you. This illustrates the beauty of choice. There are people who only think of Nordhavn 62's it's their end game sailaway. One 62 circumnavigated, most have crossed an ocean or two. It's personal taste, like the high gloss cherry - gorgeous in person, hard to photograph and perfectly fine underway at night, not as shiny as in the day. Kadey's are fine boats too, and provide a great alternative option to a Nordhavn.
