Was very kindly invited out by MDF Oxgirl36 on one of her permissions, decided to incorporate some beginners tips and things to be aware of when starting in the hobby.
This was really useful thank you. I haven’t bought my first detector even yet but feel this has given me a lot of good tips.. especially about the FLO, recording finds etc which I hadn’t yet considered... i just hope I am able to get a permission off some kind soul to get me started once I have taken the plunge and bought the kit! Many thanks guys
Hello thanks for your kind words, best of of gaining permissions as it can be one of the more difficult hurdles to cross in the hobby, anyway all the very best of luck, mrix
Great video thanks. Just bought my first detector. I have a friend who lives on a farm in Suffolk (I will get the permission of course) so looking forward to having a play and learning about this new hobby. I think my wife will be pleased to get me out the house;)
Hi and thanks for the smiles all the way through good and not so good finds, I'm really looking forward to giving it a go around south Lincolnshire, or when on holiday.
Hi Keith, not so good finds is pretty much the reality of metal detecting so it was very real to life ha ha, thanks for your kind words and the very best of luck when you give it a go. mrix
Great video thanks for making it I'm now starting out in this hobby so all the help is much appreciated. I've just bought a cheap detector to start with and will take it from there.
Glad I found your channel. Good tips. Also nice to see that even experienced detectorists see the need to remind each other of savety in the field 👍🏻 😉 looking forward to the next video! Greetings from a fairly recent started detectorist from the Netherlands.
Hi , I enjoyed watching your beginners tips, I have been given a detector for Xmas, never done it before in my life, so I am grateful for your valuable tips. What brand pinpointer do you recommend? I've seen them on Amazon from 29.99 to over 100.00 plus. Thank you very much.kind wishes.
Hello again Alison, I am glad you enjoyed the video, as for the pinpointer there are quite a few different brands that are very good, Garrett, Nokta/Makro, Minelab etc, even some of the very cheap pinpointers some get lucky with but that`s very hit and miss, thanks for your kind words, mrix
Hello Darron, put in Tactical air soft trousers in Ebay or Amazon, they are one of my favourite buys! they even have padding withing the hard knee pads and the adjustment to your preference is fantastic, all the best mrix
Hello and thanks for your kind words, as for your question within the UK a licence is not required to use a metal detector, however every square metre of land is owned by someone so its very important to gain permission first, all the best of luck, mrix
@@nataliaoprea9306 Its the same for forests but beaches on the other hand are different, many beaches are completely fine to metal detect on, not all as they are private but you can still ask for permission or you may need to obtain a permit, a vast majority of beaches will be fine to metal detect on, to find out which you would need to go the the Crown Estate website, just put in Google Crown Estate Metal Detecting and you will find a map of the UK and around the coast highlighted in purple are the places you are allowed to metal detect, hope this helps, mrix
Where did you get your spade bud and what's the thing called that attaches to your or pinpointer and your trousers the coil spring thing and where do you get them as well thanks
Hello the spade has been brilliant, its a spade that was produced by a company called JR Stainless which I believe is no longer trading unfortunately. the springy thing is a pinpointer security lanyard, basically so you do not lose your pinpointer, just checkout Ebay and you should see many different types, best of luck mrix
Hello Alison, it is ok to metal detect many beaches in the UK, you would first need to check the crown estate metal detecting section which shows you a map of the beaches they allow, some beaches are privately but the vast majority are not. here is a link to the Crown estate metal detecting page - www.thecrownestate.co.uk/en-gb/what-we-do/on-the-seabed/coastal/metal-detecting-and-drone-flying/ All the very best of luck mrix
Well they are one of my best buys!, brilliant in a Word! they are tactical air-soft trousers, the knee pads have a very hard shell outer but soft and comfy inside, they have so many pockets and the adjust-ability is second to known! cannot rate them high enough, they also come in other colours like camo, tan and I think black, mrix
I thought that IF you are showing tips for beginners/ YOU SHOULD USE A ENTRY LEVEL DETECTORS WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE,SO WATCHING YOU WITH THAT DETECTOR IS ONLY PROBABLY %50 info .? SO I'm still struggling; i.e. descriminator AND Auto tune please
Hello, I dont really go into much detail of actually running the machine, you would be far better off finding videos related to the running of your specific machine... all the very best of luck.....mrix

Great video but i have a question do you need a special licence to be able to use your metal detector?
Hello and thanks for your kind words, as for your question within the UK a licence is not required to use a metal detector, however every square metre of land is owned by someone so its very important to gain permission first, all the best of luck, mrix

Hello hunter
You call out some numbers 65,45. is it better to have higher numbers or lower?
Hello, check out your machines specific manual, target ID numbers can be a little different per brand of machine.
Is it ok to metal detect on beaches?
