NC is a gem. It’s definitely getting crowded in the mountains but if you put in the work it pays tremendously. We have a lot to choose from and the wildlife department has easily accessible to information.
Yep! We could have definitely avoided the pressure better by getting farther from town. But that just wasn't what we wanted to do in this particular instance. I've gone into some backcountry areas and never seen a person! Thanks for watching
I wholeheartedly agree on the rainbow trout comments you made in the video. Tribs around here are absolutely loaded with small rainbows. Unless you're above a certain elevation the brookies can be tough to come by, at least compared to other states. I've got a few spots around here where I can regularly catch a wild slam but you have to grind and cover a lot of water.
Hey Jon n Andrew, good to see Andrew back on this side of the Mississippi (the Father of the Waters to the Natives). Love and appreciate your videos, diligence perseverance, and simple honesty. Hey if it sucks it just sucks. Especially if you are behind another fisherman. But if you would like to go to some places that others don't that I know hold good to great fishing I'd be glad to show you a few. Glad to see you catch some and always tight lines. Tony
Being in my late 60’s and living in central NC I just don’t get to go as often as I would like to. By watching your videos I feel like I’m there with you. I appreciate you sharing your adventures with us all 😎
That is a very, very highly pressured creek. Even the Tribs and surrounding creeks get hit hard. The bigger fish are in there but they are wicked smart and shy. Love to see you in NC - lots of great water here especially as you get closer to GSMP.
I've been waiting for this video ever since you told me you were working on it recently. My girlfriend and I are heading up to Bryson City later in April. We can't wait to stick a few!
I carry a small roll of electrical tape, the 1/2 inch wide version which can make all kinds of repairs to get you through the day And having an extra tip guide w larger hole than the tip of each of your rods has before they break so it’ll fit when the tip is broken Couple lightweight items that will save the day in the backcountry
As a long time fan of the channel it's very cool to see ya'll fishing a lot of the holes I fish on the daily. Would've been cool to run into you out there.
My neck of the woods! I've been chasing brookies here near Asheville all year and you're right, there are so many rainbows mixed in but I have found some incredible spots for the brookies. Would love to show you anytime you're in the area again!
It's an incredible area!! The water is gorgeous for sure. I'd bet there are definitely some awesome little hidden gems in the area. Thanks for watching!
Probably safe to say the otter ate all those dink's parents in that one stream. The way it moved you could tell it was eating well. I still highly enjoyed the show, seeing new water. Breaking your $7-8 hundred dollar fly rod was obviously no bueno!
What an awesome video man, them wild streams are definitely tuff some days, I’ve had my fair share of struggles for sure, I’m glad I’m not the only one lol. I appreciate your videos more than you guys know btw, so thank you guys for the content!!! Btw what floating line do you prefer on your streamer rod?
Hi, will you ever try fly fishing with a New Zealand strike indicator? In some conditions on the river, it is a very effective method of fishing, and for example, instead of a New Zealand strike indicator, you can use a larger dry fly that also catches fish,
I mean I use dry dropper rigs quite a bit, just not this time of year. I don't use indicator rigs much only because my rivers / streams aren't very conducive to it.
I live in sylva nc would be more than happy to take you to some once in a lifetime places waterfalls with railroad tracks coming out of waterfalls from the old 1800's rail way and some giants in creeks you can jump across
@@hardmanfishing it would be a fun time I would be up to take you any time it's something only a couple of us locals know were it's at and have been there you can see the native trout just running in ever hole you step up to great for native brook
Sorry our state wasn't kinder to you but there are some good lessons in what rivers become with over fishing due to many factors, NC still has some good fishing but we loose more every day and there are more and more anglers crammed into less and less water. Rather than complain it is just a good lesson on the actual impacts of over fishing and how we can do more as individuals to be tactful about the butterfly effect of our time on the water. The fishing doesn't disappear the quality just goes way down and the next generation thinks it's fantastic cause that's all they know. Thanks for making a real video on how beautiful our area is even though good fishing ain't common anymore.
Overfishing is a weird problem… because it affects anglers but I’m not sure it does much to fish numbers. The game just becomes how do you catch a fish that’s been fished for or how do you find water that hasn’t been as pressured at the end of the weekend. Both things I do on some of my local waters but struggle to do in areas where I’m not familiar with the water. Now if you’re losing water to private land or something along those lines then that’s an entirely different issue 😂 either way I always enjoy visiting NC. Thanks for watching!!
Hey man just wondering, i know this question has probably been asked a hundred times but what rod are you using? not only does it look cool but it also looks to have great action and i see it in almost all of your videos!
I may be traveling to NC in next summer but my family says it’s to warm for trout there. Do you know what area it’s possible to fish rainbow trout and brooktrout? I love your videos and I DREAM to catch brookies or rainbows
Depends on the day. But I think I always threw a 3 wt, sometimes it was a 10 foot euro rod, other times it was an 8 foot 6 inch brookie rod. I also think I threw a 5 wt around when we streamer fished a little bit, but it's been several months since this trip!
It would be helpful to at least identify the county that you are fishing in. Also more information on the flys that you are fishing through out would be helpful. I enjoyed seeing your videos. Thanks
Looks like the rewards of fishing that first stream does not match the effort and expense of reaching it. Or the unskippable ads viewers have to endure to view it. (not to mention the built in infomercial) Its difficult to tell for sure, but that waterfall looks eerily similar to one of the 3 main waterfalls found on SNOWBIRD creek near Robbinsville NC and the Joyce Kilmer forest.
If you don’t like TH-cam’s unskippable ads then don’t watch TH-cam 😂 don’t get mad at me. Also who said the first stream was expensive or tough to get too?? I’m trying to figure out if this comment is even about this video or not😂 anyways happy Easter!! Have a great rest of your day
Whos mad? The solution is one click away! Dont blame TH-cam as you were the one that monetized this video out the ass, including a lengthy built in infomercial of your own. You mean to say that a trip to that location does not involve considerable expense and effort? A remarkable fisherman you are indeed!!!!! @@hardmanfishing
A really beautiful place but a shame about the fishing not being up to expectations. What a tragedy breaking that rod, another repair job for you to do. $700+dollars, about £600, is an extremely expensive rod. Is all fishing tackle so very costly in the USA? Your casting skills are amazing to be able to fly fish in those woods.
I love flyfishing, and I am 10 years old. I went fly fishing today at broken bow and cut like 22 I love your channel
That’s awesome!! You’re getting started early. Good luck on your next trip
Thanks
The Lower Mountain Fork in Broken Bow is one of my favorite bodies of water! Good job, keep it up!

Cought some slabs at the pond today glad I can vicariously trout fish through you
I love fly fishing in tiny streams for beautiful wild and native trout
NC holds many secrets! Great film my man.
No doubt!! Thanks for watching man
Welcome back "Rew." Yes, without a doubt, that is one beautiful places to fish.

best fishing channel ever TO THIS DAY

Yessir! That's why I love NC so much. Thanks of watching!
Good stuff! The Northeast is starting to get good as well! The midges are starting to hatch so the dry fly bite has been amazing the last week or so!
It's not how big they are, it's where they are caught. BTW Welcome to our State, Guys!
Thanks for the welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video
Cool to see you out in NC doing your thing. Awesome video!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it man
As a long time fan of the channel it's very cool to see ya'll fishing a lot of the holes I fish on the daily. Would've been cool to run into you out there.
Yeah for sure!! Either way thanks for watching and it’s cool to finally make it to your “home” water
Sweet video and beautiful scenery. Going up to NC trout fishing this month. I'm too excited! Keep em coming!
Thank you! I definitely will!
NC native, I don't want to give away spots but there is some good creeks in barnardsville. Love your videos, keep up the great work!

The rhododendron, the granite. I saw that and said "Boys are in North Carolina" even before I paid attention to the title. Gorgeous water.
Thank you! Yep NC is an awesome place for sure.
Nice work! We have to ton of wild rainbows in NC. In Pisgah and NE of there in the off-the-grid parts.
So sick! So beautiful!
Thank you!!
Awesome App 😀👍 Enjoyed, and Happy Easter
Happy Easter to you too!!
Beautiful place for an HFA East and HFA West reunion.
Couldn’t agree more! Thanks for watching

so much better than polish films about fly fishing on yt!
Thanks! Although I'm sure the polish filmmakers wouldn't be too excited to see this hahaha
@@hardmanfishing yeaah but i don’t care i’m fly fishing amator and I am fishing better then them so i don’t care😂
If you buy Risen flyrods, they will replace segments you break for life for only $25, and they fish amazingly.

Hi John and Andrew, you both are very skilled flyfishermen of tiny and small creeks. Pity of your rod John, but it could be repaired.
Yep I’ve got a replacement tip coming! Thanks for watching
Awesome video guys. Lover these longer ones. What line are you running on that echo streamer x rod? I have one on order!
Cortland’s floating streamer line! It’s my favorite for the smaller water
Epic location
phenomenal

That is a tough area to fish, without a doubt. it sees a lot of pressure and the otters don't help of course.
Yeah it was fun to fish a new area but I doubt I go back there too much, at least not during that time of the year!
beautiful
amazing

What's the difference between a class 1, 2, 3 etc. on Trout Routes?
Saya suka vidio anda mancing di air yg jernih saya dari indonesia mantap bos..🇮🇩👍💪
I know your first spot quite well!
It’s a cool creek for sure!! Thanks for watching
Is that the Thompson River ? I fished it many times 20+ years ago while going to school in the mountains. Edit 👉 you bet it is 😂😂😂
what rod are you using?
Hey man wondering if you could say the names of rivers and creeks you fish
yo what rod and reel u useing
What fly rod is that with the black handle?
Adams
What rod an be reel?
What wt rod are you using and length ?
Depends on the day. But I think I always threw a 3 wt, sometimes it was a 10 foot euro rod, other times it was an 8 foot 6 inch brookie rod. I also think I threw a 5 wt around when we streamer fished a little bit, but it's been several months since this trip!

He’s my younger brother!

Considerable time and effort is such a subjective thing….
If you don’t like the adds, buy TH-cam premium….
Or eliminate the channels that abuse the monetization. Yea I think thats the better option!@@andersed1
The only way the wild rainbows will stop being a problem is if they start ending up on the bank accidentally no matter what the size.
I love how you threw "accidentally" in there 😂 But I think it would take more than that honestly.
