Now tha is still cold but not NEARLY as cold as this blowhard is saying. Only thing he is doing here is trying to make money But PLEASE do keep those folks in the mountains in your Prayers
I think the weather nerds have always been here. We just didn't have all of the media back then as we do today. I have always been a weather nerd but back in the 80's it was mainly local news coverage or what I could find to read in newspapers and magazines.

You'd be wearing jackets in September, sometimes maybe in late August depending......and snowfalls (though not very large) were common. It used to get cold enough for long enough here that ponds would freeze over and you could ice skate on them. I remember.
I hope the folks in Texas remember their lessons from a few years ago about freezing temps and pipes. I hope they have supplies. I'm really concerned about those living in tents and or subpar conditions in TN. I hope they will be taken in or find better shelter at least temporarily.
I’ll never forget one night when I was homeless, I woke up with a pretty thick sheet of ice coving the inside of my car. Fun times. That being said, I feel no sympathy for them.

Everyone who's not used to the cold go grab a couple space heaters and some insulated pipe covers or electric heater pipe line. Make sure your socked for a couple days of food and fill a bunch of gallons of water. I'm from NY and it's no fun having negative Temps and not being prepared for it. I know a lot of homes down south are not insulated like our homes up here as we deal with negative Temps every year. Best thing is not to panic and just bunker down and stay safe. Praying for all those who are still without a home. Praying they can fine a place temporarily to stay warm and dry

I will say this, old timers here have told me that January & February are the months when either a trace of snow or ice hits. I have seen 1 ice storm and a light dusting of snow and this is only my 3rd winter. Roll the bones.
If you have to drive in this weather. Be sure to: air up your tires. Check your oil AND your windshield wiper fluid. Top off your tank. Restock your emergency pack in your vehicle with snacks, extra socks, and a change of clothes. Get chains in a handy spot inside your vehicle and not in the trunk. Honestly. With how far out this forecast is. It isn’t really worth showing what could accumulate. Im in St Louis and I have seen 1-3in to 7-12in predicted. Until we get closer, say Friday, im sure a legend would be helpful

Hell yes, I look forward to the cold so much. I have nowhere to stay and I'm in a tent in south Florida, but I got my blanket, sleeping bag and tent ready and I'm soooo ready for it. I will take 20 or 30 degrees at the dead of night over 95 degrees and raining wet at night any day of the week... Those summer nights are miserable after doing this for a year now, I will tell you.
It’s crazy because yesterday the model showed the heaviest snow over Ohio and Indiana and now it looks to shifted south with Ohio and Indiana being more on the northern edge of the storm and less of a chance this is gonna be a blow out by snowfall for us.
@@JohnWick-vh2qy no I get that but last couple models it had the heaviest over Indiana and Ohio. This model seems to think it’s shifting more southward. As we get closer the model slowly starts to show the path of the storm. Of course it can change.
I’m in Kentucky according to my weather apps we are looking at about an once of ice coming Sunday/Monday if you don’t have alternative heat it’s time to get prepared! Thankfully I have 2 buddy heaters, candles, clay pots, a 2 burner Coleman gas stove, wood stove and generator don’t wait get prepared now but don’t go wild and buy multiples just get what you need to get by so that everyone can get what they need!
Our weather is changing drastically year over year so really anything is possible, even snow in places we never seen it before unfortunately. But let's hope not. Great job keeping us up to date my friend.

It looks like the worst of this misses us in every scenario, so far. Sometimes it's good to not get mentioned when the topic is about up to 2 feet of snow, and temperatures over 40 degrees below normal.

Hear me out, I yearned for snow in the D.C area, but D.C didn’t earn an inch of snow. Please feel lucky for yourself. Lake effect snow almost always hardly touches your area. Lake effect snow doesn’t even give an inch to D.C. If D.C doesn’t get any inch of snow this year, I am moving.

Yeah, I doubt North Carolina areas don't get any. I'm between Boone and West Jefferson but Boone gets snow and us near West Jefferson, we get nothing unless it's ice. I've been sleeping in my summer nightie and leaving my balcony door open overnight for the last four days-ish. This has been completely insane. I really miss having winter. I don't mean snow because we don't usually have consistent snowy days in Central Arkansas. I mean, bring out the winter clothing and keep them in the front of the closet. I mean, leaving my heavy winter bedding on the bed without the constant putting on and removing the electric blanket. I mean having to leave the water dripping in the bathroom and kitchen overnight in order to prevent having the pipes freeze. That kind of winter!
Do you have to leave faucets dripping because you don't have a basement? I'm not far from Canadian border and only worry about the unheated garage sink.

Hear me out, I yearned for snow in the D.C area, but D.C didn’t earn an inch of snow. Please feel lucky for yourself. Lake effect snow almost always hardly touches your area. Lake effect snow doesn’t even give an inch to D.C. If D.C doesn’t get any inch of snow this year, I am moving.

In NE Iowa , ground is totally bare, in area that used to have deep snow cover beginning in mid November, haven’t had good snow for at least 5 years.
I appreciate folks doing work like this to help us all prepare for difficult weather scenarios. Hopefully most people can tune out the Chicken Littles (especially on X) who always take it too far and just understand it's important to keep a watchful eye on the developments as an event draws closer.

Local weather just called off snow for Hickory in NC this morning. Dang I hope you’re right! It hasn’t snowed in years!
Yeah, I doubt North Carolina areas don't get any. I'm between Boone and West Jefferson but Boone gets snow and us near West Jefferson, we get nothing unless it's ice. We need a good snow to clean the air. Everyone stay safe and have a blessed New Year. Old things from last year past away so hopefully the New Year folks will be more blessed and even more thankful.

I've been sleeping in my summer nightie and leaving my balcony door open overnight for the last four days-ish. This has been completely insane. I really miss having winter. I don't mean snow because we don't usually have consistent snowy days in Central Arkansas. I mean, bring out the winter clothing and keep them in the front of the closet. I mean, leaving my heavy winter bedding on the bed without the constant putting on and removing the electric blanket. I mean having to leave the water dripping in the bathroom and kitchen overnight in order to prevent having the pipes freeze. That kind of winter!
And what on earth is good about that kind of winter?? Or any winter. It's depressing and gloomy
Do you have to leave faucets dripping because you don't have a basement? I'm not far from Canadian border and only worry about the unheated garage sink.
